February 2 – Life in a Lockdown #44
So it has now been a year since the first official cases were reported in the UK. I remember sitting at my parents talking about it over dinner.
Hard to think a year later it would have been so long since I sat at that table with them. (Yes we’ve been around for dinner as and when allowed but to make sure we kept a social distance we either ate outside (in summer) or sat on the sofa as it got colder), while my parents sat at the table.
Have you been following the Gamestop / Wallstreet saga? I have to admit I don’t really get stocks but amazing what people can do when they all get together I guess!
Of course, the news that Captain Sir Tom Moore has coronavirus came over the weekend as well. I think he gave a lot of people hope last year as he walked his garden raising money for the NHS. A real national hero, so let’s hope he gets through this. EDIT – Sadly later on the day this was published the sad news that Captain Sir Tom Moore had passed came out. RIP Sir, thank you for bringing people together during this awful time.
Most of my neighbours have now had the first round of the injection, really pleased for them.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 44 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I have this issue where at times I’ll clench my jaw in my sleep and so for a couple of days I get a very painful right side of my mouth. So spent most of the week trying to remind myself not to clench.
In some ways, however, it was nice to be in pain in a different place.
I got myself a long hot water bottle (this pug one from Amazon [affiliate link] as I’m a big kid). Which is really nice, I put it over my left shoulder, so it hits my neck, shoulder blade and part of my back and while it doesn’t help the pain, it can be relaxing.
I feel like with so many people getting the injection there so bubble of hope starting to form inside me.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Not a lot, I don’t do well at this time of year, I sort of hibernate, so I guess you could say I have been doing that.
We also tried some pizza from a local company who have started doing woodfire pizzas and OH MY GOSH – best pizza ever! So if you live in the Lichfield area most definitely try out Napoli Lichfield. They deliver in a 4-mile radius on a Saturday only.
I’m still watching a lot of OOOOO app (affiliate – use refer Lifeinabreakdown to get £10 to spend on the app) lives. Some of their price drops are incredible. I got a hairdryer for shipping only, after a price drop + a wheel win.
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
I’m hoping as the vaccines are handed out we get a bit more freedom in the world around us. I know it won’t be like it used to be for a long while yet, but even just a sniff of normality will be welcomed.
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
It would be of the people who helped. I think in a year, maybe longer we will have forgotten the kindness of others. How people came together, yet that should never be forgotten.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
Nothing this week, so I thought I would share with you an older purchase alongside some bunny tails I won over Christmas.

6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
Streaming services. I mean I work from home all the time, but having not been able to cope with work so well, I’ve definitely been watching TV more than ever.
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
I really struggle with social media – it is definitely not a natural platform for me to use and something that I stress a lot over using at times too.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Heating. It has been so cold! Though it was nice to see everything covered in snow, I saw some really amazing photos from around the local area as well.
