Exciting happenings for Being Tilly’s Mummy

Today I am lucky enough to have a great post from the lovely Vicky of Being Tilly’s Mummy – she has a big change ahead and is sharing her thoughts on just what this year will hold for her and her family.

I always knew I would be a youngish Granny as I had my first child at 19 years old and by the time I was 22 years old, I had 3 kids under 3! So now my older kids are 22. 20 and 19 it was inevitable that I would soon become a granny. Just before Christmas, My daughter told me she had to go to the hospital for blood tests, and anyone that has ever been pregnant will know that’s where they send you for pre- natal blood tests. Besides I was her mother and you can’t hide anything from the mother! So I asked her and she burst into tears and told me she was, it wasn’t a planned pregnancy and we have not had a close relationship over the past years so she felt too scared to tell me. I have always made sure that my girls knew they could talk to me if they needed to, and that they should be open.

Anyway I was excited from the moment she told me! Tilly is 5 in March so it will be so nice for her to have another child within the family, but she can’t quite get her head around being an aunty.

Beth will be moving across the country with her boyfriend and of course we will miss being part of her little family. But I know she has to make her own start and she will make a great parent. She has asked advice about a few things which is nice and bringing us together a little bit. Sometimes when I see she has little patience with her baby sister, I wonder how she will cope being a mum. But then when you have your own child your more patient and you learn how to be a parent once your child is born. Lets face it, you could read as many books as you want about being a parent but nothing really prepares you for the moment you hold your newborn child in your arms and you don’t know what to do – suddenly everything you have learned is forgotten in seconds.

She had an early scan as she had a threatened ectopic pregnancy and they just wanted to check everything was ok and she has quite severe morning sickness but i just remind her how she used to wear horrible perfumes when I was pregnant with her baby sister, making me sicker!

She is now 13 weeks pregnant and there is no sign of the morning sickness subsiding and she is convinced she has a bump (I will let her think it, after all its exciting when you think you have a bump) and before she knows it she will know the sex of the baby. The sooner the better as Tilly asks me every day if the baby has been born and if we know if it is a boy or a girl.
