December 15 – Life in a Lockdown #37
So people in the UK have started having the first part of the vaccine. There is a health care worker who has been sharing her experience with having it on TikTok.
We are still in tier 3 here, so not much difference. Staying home – not feeling the Christmas cheer (not that, that’s new).
I feel a bit lost on what to update with this week, my mind hasn’t been on it.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 37 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
At the moment I’m exhausted, yay for ME and it all the fatigue it brings. Christmas is getting closer which does fill me with a bit of dread, to be honest. However, that’s nothing new, it happens every year.
Screaming in a field might be a good idea right now.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Our toilet stopped working so we spent over half a day with no working loo – that was perhaps the highlight of 7 days.
Santa came to visit (or drive past), normally they collect funds for local charities but they can’t this year. So hopefully a few people donate online.
I got caught watching Santa out the window as well.
A few weeks ago I won a competition with the Women’s Prize for Fiction. There was a bit of a mix up with the prize and they kindly allowed me to donate the extra books to a fundraiser for Pathway Project.
The books went off to The Bank Coffeehouse to be offered for a donation to charity. So fingers crossed it will bring in some pennies!
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
Hopefully, the vaccine will help a lot of people, it seems like the USA OK’d it over the weekend as well. So perhaps they will be soon behind us in starting people with having injections.
I’m sure it will be a while until it gets around to us, however, it feels like a light at the end of the tunnel.
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
Humans can be unbelievably kind to each other.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
I found these via an Instagram competition which BeautyQueenUK shared with me and they are the best.

Now I can pretend to be festive while being spooky at the same time. They are from Emily x Diana who you can find on Etsy (affiliate link) or Instagram.

Also, another Kickstarter dropped through my door this week. This time it was a book by Emma Evans, who you can find one Etsy and at her Instagram. It is a story comic book about lockdown 1.
I backed a reward that had a personalised dedication included and OH MY! I cried when I opened the book it is absolutely beautiful. Check it out:

How well has she got Sal drawn? If you want a copy of the Lockdown Diary it is available on her Etsy.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
Disappearing into a silly movie or game (hello animal crossing) can be wonderful for a while and sometimes you need to take things 10 minutes at a time.
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
I spent almost a year in a mental health hospital as a teen. I met some of the strongest people there I have ever met.
I will no longer be ashamed that I did.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Somewhere warm to go to and curl up, when things are bad.

This post contains affiliate links if you buy anything via these links you get charged nothing extra however I receive a small amount from the company.

No working toilet!! Oh no, I hope you had a decent bucket around haha. I am grateful at the moment to be able to snuggle up to my children indoors and feel safe.
It was not fun! LOL thankfully we are back to working *touch wood*.
This is going to be a very different Christmas this year, just hope these things get better in the spring when more people are vaccinated.
It is going to be so hard isn’t it – let’s hope the vaccine really helps.
I think I am doing pretty good with lockdown but really hope that the situation will get better soon.
It is a strange beast it is good you are coping OK with it.
Love those earrings, they are super cute…. Off to check what other items they sell. Lovely if you to donate your prize to help a charity.
They have some lovely things – I love the decorations as well.
it def isnt’ easy that’s for sure. I’ve been spending more time with my kids and baking wich is something that calms me
Aw those are going to be some lovely memories for you and then when they get older!
It’s really a different Christmas today. I hope everything will go back to normal. Let’s just be positive and hope for the best.
It is going to be strange isn’t it – I never look forward to Christmas but this is going to be so much tougher.
I love the look of those earrings and that comic book! I am so glad that the company you won from let you donate the books.
It was so incredibly kind of them! They were so lovely about it as soon as I told them the idea!
I will be glad to be out of this lockdown. I have gotten so much done while I have been locked up.
I think it will be very strange going back to an open world where everyone can do what they want again.
We saw Santa drive by our house too. He was on a firetruck. That picture of Sal and you is amazing!
I am glad that you are finding escape in video games. Although I did not know you spent time in the mental health hospital, I’m glad that you are not ashamed of it. The people who I know who have gotten help are some of the most amazing people I know!
My mom had a nervous breakdown when she was in her late 40’s. I am just so glad that she got the help she needed!
That is so cool – he has a sleigh here which is pulled by a car. It is incredible isn’t it, I’m trying to think of ways I can have it hung up, wondering about photocopying and then putting in a frame who knows!
It was an interesting experience, between the hospital and women’s refuge I can only say I have met some amazingly strong people, who are incredible, especially with all they have gone through and dealt with.
We all pray that the vaccine will be effective and save many people from this pandemic. I am so excited to read Lockdown Diary! I think it’s really good.
Definitely it such a hard time for everyone right now isn’t it?
I think we are all feeling the need to pull at our hair and scream. I’m keeping fingers crossed that we get better news this week
I hope so I worry for what it will be like after Christmas.
oh dear! i am so sorry you are still in such a strict conditions, I hope it will be better soon. Hugging you
Thank you so much it is definitely interesting I have to admit.
That lockdown diary book looks stunning. I love the picture of Sal with wings, it must have made you really emotional
It is amazing I can’t wait to read it, it’s at my parents at the moment so they could have look. The picture made me cry – but in a good way.
I think this holiday will be different for many of us. I honestly don’t feel like it’s even the holidays right now. Everything is so different, but we’ll make the best of it.
Definitely, it is going to be a strange one – 3 households are allowed to mix over 5 days here.
There has been a lot of talk about the vaccine and I truly hope it will help a lot of people. Hope you feel better soon as well.
Definitely, it has started to be given out locally to anyone over 80 I think, hopefully, it helps them.
Still battling with anxiety disorder though I find distraction can help. Doing crafts or getting lost in a good film can help. My daughter having cancer and my other daughter and son in law and little grandson having the virus hasn’t helped . Too much worry They are all fine now but the worry certainly hasn’t done me any good. I’ll just be happy when this year has disappeared x
Oh my goodness those little ghost earrings are adorable. I sure hope the vaccine can help people. I am ready for all this to pass and move on with the new year. Wish you the best with your toilet!
Oh wow, congratulations on winning with The Women’s Prize for Fiction. Sounds exciting!! That’s so sweet that you donated the extra books x
We are all trying to cope and still wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! I pray that the vaccine will help a lot of people on fighting this pandemic.
Definitely, hopefully the vaccine will make 2021 a better year all around!
The earrings are so cute. Sometimes I love something as cute as these.
They are adorable aren’t they – she does some with cracker hats on as well.
We’re escaping reality for awhile and heading for the beach. We couldn’t be more excited!
Oh that sounds absolutely amazing I hope you have a wonderful time!
Its really a movie season for us all this pandemic season. Christmas movies though I recommend. Fun to watch esp this time.
Ohh good idea, I should really check out some Christmas movies.
It hasn’t been easy around here, but we’re doing our best with the kids. Trying to keep sane, one day at a time.
I hope you manage to keep on going and keep things special for the kids.
Life is not like we are used to and I have gotten used to staying home. I have been having to let things go like grocery shopping and using up our stockpile of food.
I think it is going to be really strange when we can all go about our business again!
I’m actually doing a study for the vaccine here so I may or may not have it 🙂
Thank you for taking part in the study we couldn’t do it without people like you!
Thanks for sharing! Life is such a rollercoaster of emotions these days, happy there is a vaccine, then crash down when daily figures released and increasing and new strain moving faster. I find avoiding the news is necessary sometimes to avoid the panic attacks. A lesson I learnt as soon as I was diagnosed with ME/CFS/Fibro ‘do not waste energy on things I cannot control’
It is so hard at time isn’t it – everything makes you tired when you have ME be it mental or physical work.
I feel like screaming in a field right now too! I’m not sure where we are on the vaccine tier but I’m sure it’s pretty low. I think I saw it will be available to the general public in the US by August.
That is a long wait isn’t it? I think I’ll be lowest out of my family as parents are over 70 and Ash is diabetic.
I spent a good portion of the year doing nothing productive like watching an insane amount of movies but recently I’ve decided to pursue starting a blog which is something I always wanted to do.
I honestly have no idea how much TV I have watched this year. Good luck with starting your own blog!
I love watching silly movies to forget about my problems. Also, I hope you aren’t as fatigued. I know that can’t be easy.
It can really help can’t it? I love kids films for that reason, I can be a mess and the other half knows to put one on as it doesn’t take any thought just stupidness.
It’s like a rollercoaster at the moment, I think I’m getting better than something happens and it’s bad again haa! Thank you though.
I get the ME fatigue C is really struggling at the moment as are a lot of the kids from a group I am in. I am hoping the vaccine does start to work and things can start moving back to some sort of normality
Hiding in a silly computer game for a couple of hours is a great way to relax, I find.
I totally agree it can be nice to just disappear into another world.
