December 1 – Life in a Lockdown #35
So we are still in lockdown 2 (just). Last Thursday the tiers we would go into come the 2nd were shared. We are going into tier 3 – which is very high alert. It means non-essential shops can reopen (I’m guessing the government want people shopping before Christmas). Restaurants and pubs are still closed unless they can offer takeaway services. Gyms can open but exercise classes are a no, inside attractions and entertainment have to close (however outdoor attractions can stay open). Do I really know what I am explaining – of course not.
There’s talk that vaccines might start rolling out this month, that will be interesting to see. I’m still at this point where I’m worried about what it could do taking it (I pretty much react to everything). However, it would also allow me to go out again, so hello rock and a hard place.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 35 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
My fatigue is still awful, most of the time I just want to sleep and do nothing else. I guess I’ve had enough of this year and winter.
I’m trying to think what I need to do before Christmas and it’s not much to be honest, which is good. We aren’t giving so many presents this year as a family, so I’m hoping to donate to charity instead. Just trying to sort out which in my head is a little confusing.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Nothing much to be honest. I’m still on the Bipolar education course, the last one is next week so been doing that every Monday.
Other than that it’s blogging, sleeping and eating.
Oh, I did talk to my physio over the phone, so I have some new exercising to try out to help my neck and hip.
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
I’m tentatively hoping that change is on the cards with the vaccine now in production and being shipped.
However only time will tell.
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
Just how people came together, even strangers and supported each other. Soup and cake left on the doorstep, things being delivered. It was all incredible.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
Check out my hat! Isn’t it awesome?

It’s from a Kickstarter from Gilles Bone. However, you can buy them from the website where there is a whole range of Best Fuwa Fuwa Hats.

Also from another Kickstarter are some pins, also from Gilles Bone, these are from the Nya Nya Neko range, from which I already own a few. These two are based on Crowley and Aziraphale from Good Omens.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
I’ve had to learn mindfulness through my different mental health courses. I think perhaps more than finding a technique that works for me. I’ve learnt that I need to keep looking for those which suit me and carry on practising them.
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
Due to all my health issues, I never thought I would be able to work again. Blogging has given me a way to earn money and allowed me to come off ESA.
I worry about the day it becomes obsolete and what I will do then.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Technology – allowing us a simple way to keep in touch with loved ones.

Hopefully lockdown will be over soon and no more tier systems! Hopefully it won’t be much longer now and everyone will have there vaccines so life can return to normality 🙂
I hope things start looking up soon. The cases in Lichfield have been going down daily, so maybe we will be out of Tier 3 soon!
Fingers crossed – I know it got quite bad in the area for a while didn’t it? Even the village was having daily cases.
I can’t believe vaccines are pretty much a possibility now – will you be having one? I am so fed up of this all now!
I know! I can’t believe how quickly it has been done. Yeah I think so – though I will talk to my doctors first of course.
I can’t wait for January this year! But I hope we’ll have a beautiful family Christmas!
I am with you on the fatigue. My brain just can’t handle all of this!
I honestly don’t know much what to say. I had plans that didn’t worked, my depression got worse, I’m broke, I actually draw, I have plans, but no money to make it go forward as my art tools are ending, I also don’t have a laptop /pc since 2013, sometimes I wish the world would end at the end of the year.
I am so sorry things are so bad for you – keep battling on and looking for that light at the end of the tunnel.
I hope the exercises help you! My husband has RA, and living with chronic pain is so sucky.
I don’t think I’ll be able to get the vaccine until this spring or summer. I’m hoping that my son, who is a health care worker, can get one soon. He has been working on the COVID floor of the hospital.
Having health issues, as well, I do look forward to the vaccine as a hope to return to a life outside my four walls. I am so glad that you found blogging as a way to create an income for yourself despite your struggles. Wishing you all the best through this next season
Definitely, I’ve got quite bored of my bungalow this year, I mean we didn’t get out much before but at least we had the option lol.
I’ve just heard about the vaccines which will be rolled out next week so looking forward to it and yes for change and to get back to normality. I do hope the exercise helps you feel better
That hat is awesome!! Good that you managed to come off ESA thanks to blogging – I have a part-time job now as I found that blogging can be a bit hit and miss – especially this year
It’s been such a weird year I think that’s what has made me think about the “what ifs” more.
OMG, I love the hat! It is so adorable. I need to get one of those. I have been doing pretty well since this whole lockdown started. I really do hope the vaccine does come out soon.
Isn’t it so much fun even my Mum was like I love your hat haha!
I don’t have high hopes for a vaccine that has been made within a year , but hopefully things start to look up soon
It will be interesting to see what happens, I understand how it has been made so quickly, it is such a shame that not everything gets so much support to allow it to be made quicker.
Thanksgiving Week was really hard. I was mad, disappointed, upset… then it was over. I think that if I had to, I could even cope with Christmas, having done Thanksgiving… I know what I need to do differently.
We are under the same mandates. Working from home already helped me adjust but I miss travel and family so much. I really believe my kids and our animals have helped me remain as calm as possible. I have had unhealthy ways of coping too. Food! I think we just have to do the best we can!
It is so hard isn’t it – I can’t even remember the last time I hugged my Mum and that hurts a lot.
I can’t believe how bad it has gotten these last few weeks. We’ve been sticking to staying home lately, its been tough, but its so scary right now.
It is hard isn’t it – I don’t blame you for keeping yourself safe.
I am trying to be optimistic about the vaccine as its been too long since I have seen my parents and nana. Its positive news we need this year.
Definitely, we all need something good to happen at some point.
Glad to hear that you’ve still been able to do your course and keep up physio, even if it’s online only. I’m just so tired and overwhelmed, the nation needs a collective holiday!!
It is hard – to be honest, the courses being online is easier as I don’t have to go anywhere in person I struggle with that.
I love the hat! The vaccine does hold some level of hope, which is a positive as we enter the festive season 🙂
Glad that the blogging is keeping you in better spirits. It’s been an awful year for us all. My grandson and his mum and dad have had the virus. They’ve recovered but it was very worrying . x
I have bought some socks ( soft topped, suitable for diabetics, etc). Also some other items in preparation for Christmas. Made use of local small shop/s.
Do need to get prepared for Christmas, especially now that we are in December. I think for some of us we needed to know just how we were expected to behave in regards to Christmas this year :- Before we could really get into the mode / mood for the Celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Goodwill is the Season. We need to determine how we will express that this year.
Best Wishes! Merry / Happy Christmas!
Glad to know you’re okay. In our place, we’re still in a kinda “not so okay” stage.
Yeah I have a feeling this month is going to make things a whole lot worse the government want to get people spending before Christmas though.
Im glad you have found blogging, you must be so busy with all your fab blog posts. Fantastic that you dont need to help have from benefits either as you can do this even with your illness.
I dont understand this tier system either, not that it means anything to me at the moment as we are housebound until 14th Dec now as my partner has tested positive.
It has made me feel somewhat useful again when I was sure I was on the scrap heap for life.
Oh no I am so sorry about your partner I hope you both stay well.
We have moved down a tier from before lockdown 2.0 but if I am honest I don’t think our lives will change at all.
It is good to hear some places have gone down, I hope everything goes OK for you.
I’m so glad that blogging has given you an outlet and income despite your medical issues that I pray are okay!
Thank you – it gives me something to keep my brain working as well which does help.
I’ve been reading a lot and watching shows I wouldn’t normally check out to help keep me sane during the pandemic.
Feeling really optimistic about the vaccine coming out. Trying to stay positive and focus on enjoying the holiday season with my family.
I hope it all works well and it definitely starts to bring an end to this pandemic.
I love that blogging has offered a source of income for so many.
It is amazing isn’t it – it’s made me feel so much better than just sitting around doing nothing.
It is getting more and more difficult to stay positive in these trying times but together we’ll get through this. Sending you blessings and light
It is isn’t it – I don’t do well in winter anyway so I’m just feeling so overwhelmed.
I’ll take my chances with the virus. Not feeling this vaccine – it came out too quickly.
I understand how its come out so quickly, the whole process of it being made makes sense. They had a LOT of money, none of waiting for peer reviews as the peers are ready and waiting, people who were very willing to trial it – all of which are hurdles in normal vaccine creation which means we often do wait years and years for them.
It’s more for me how I would personally react I mean even my TB jab gave me TB on my arm LOL.
Good to hear you don’t have too much to do before Christmas. It can be a really stressful time. Ha, I’m the same, blogging, sleeping and eating – although I need to add looking after the mini people.
It can be awful – I find after Christmas the worst, we normally go to Ash’s parents so we have something to look forward to but obviously that’s a no go this year.
Happy that lockdown will be over tomorrow although tier 2 doesn’t make much difference, going to have to brave shopping at some point as so many gifts I still need to get for peopl!
We are three here – so yay, mind you I do feel like it’s not that strict for tier 3 all the shops will be open.
I need to think seriously about Christmas I keep talking about it but not doing anything. I do love your hat my Daughter would love it I might have to get her one
It’s just hard to get into the mindset it is December now I think.
I am so hoping things will be back to normal next year. Or close to it. I have several trips planned that only can happen if the pandemic is nearly done with.
And I am also thankful for technology. It allows me to talk to Tom when he is deployed.
I definitely have my fingers crossed things will get better for us all.
That is such a good point, I can’t imagine how hard it was before technology progressed.
What a lovely community leaving cake on the doorstep! Those are the neighbours everyone needs! I’m with you, totally on the fence about the vaccine, there isn’t enough research into the long term effects, as you say though, time will tell! I don’t think blogging will become obselete for a long time, at least I certainly hope not! Sim x
It was amazing – we woke up to it and I may have cried I couldn’t believe someone had been so thoughtful. I definitely hope blogging doesn’t become obsolete!
I am getting so used to this style of life but I am so glad tht the vaccines are coming out. It seems like you are coping wel and the light is at the end of the tunnel.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for sure – what a year hey!
Like you, I’m feeling slightly optimistic about the vaccine but we have a long hard winter ahead of us.
At least we can go 24 hour shopping and get our hair cuts though hey! Lol it’s a muddle hey x
I hope it all comes through in the end but it just feels like it will never end doesn’t it.
Such a strange and hard time for all of us!
Isn’t it just here’s to a better 2021!
