Bathroom Adaptions to Dream of
Once upon a time I tried not to talk about my health issues on the blog, it was happy place away from them. However, I came to the realisation as long as I didn’t talk about it in a negative manner that actually speaking openly about the issues I face can be empowering for me and helpful to others. One place I struggle with is the bathroom, while I had some adaptions made last year, I really need more to make it into a place I can relax and wash with ease.
However, if money were no object there are so many things I could and would do to make the bathroom a place of relaxing enjoyment once again.
Bathroom Adaptions to Dream of
One thing I have given up on ever having in my life again is a bath. However, I didn’t realise it was possible to buy a walk-in bath. What surprised me more was walk-in baths come in a number of different forms, both this larger upright design and a more traditional full-length bath, which can work well for people who cannot lift their legs so high.
For me, I think this high design, which also includes a shower to the side to help with hair washing, looks like the perfect mix of shower enclosure and bath. What’s more, it comes with a hydrotherapy option, which is something I think could really help my pain levels, as there is something rather pain relieving about the bubbling of water around you, at least while you are sitting in it.
I guess the only thing to do now is save.
If like me you do have issues with the bathroom, be it anything from the ability to wash to the pain you feel when you go to the toilet, I must remind you, you are not alone. While the idea of such things can feel embarrassing and aren’t something you may want to speak to anyone about, talking about it can be the first step to making your life a lot easier and of course if you want to just rant my inbox is always open.
Do you have any issues with your bathroom, or have you had any adaptions added?

I think it’s really positive that you can talk about your health and problems, and hopefully help others to speak about theirs, I’ve never seen these walk in baths, they sound amazing with the hydrotherapy, it’s just a shame they cost so much, I think that they should be available without the hefty price tag xxx
The heat is a major problem for my body, so what I dream of is a wet room. I could almost lie down to wash, without the immersive situation of a bath. I don’t think I’d have the space for a conversion any time soon, though, let alone the cash.
I wish everyone with health problems could have all the accommodations they need to take as much of the extra difficulty as possible out of their lives.
Oh I wouldf love love these ideas implemented in our bathroom! it really could use an upgrade
I guess many people will love the idea but will think twice when the cost is being considered. I hope we could find a lot cheaper but with the same quality in the future.
The link in the post will take you to a company who supplies and fits them 🙂
Massively bookmarking this because we’re in the process of building an annex for my mum and this will be so very useful! H 🙂
Aw yay I am glad I have helped in some ways, good luck in building your annex!
I had no clue about walk in baths either. Such a good idea for those who can’t get into a traditional bath.
It is amazing the things that are coming out now to help!
These are such great ideas for bathroom renovations! I’ll have to add a few to my bathroom wishlist!
Good luck I hope you get to use some sometime 🙂
Truly,I didn’t know about walking bath facility before. Thanks for this post now I know that these mobile baths exist.I checked the site and found different designs.Great idea!
It is fab isn’t it – so nice they do, do different designs you don’t just have to have the one and lump it.
I had failed back surgery so getting in and out of the tub is so painful. I’d love a walk in bath, I think it would solve that problem.
It would be so good for so many different issues wouldn’t it and means you can have that nice relax we all deserve!
We’ve been trying to make small changes to my fella’s dad’ bathroom as he struggles to get in and out of the bath bless him. He currently has a bath lift chair but a walk in bath would be a dream. I think I’d also highly appreciate a hydrotherapy setting! Once you’ve saved up for your dream bathroom I’ll have to send you some bathbombs to celebrate :).
It really is a dream isn’t it – ohh now that would be amazing, I totally miss using bathbombs, in fact i often use them in the shower or just in a tub with my feet haha!
Walk in baths are in trend now. It is actually very cool. One problem which I have is that I don’t share my bathroom with anyone. I just can’t! Lol
I had no idea there were on trend they are such a fab idea.
This is a great idea for those who have a few health issues. I couldn’t imagine not being able to have a bath again, mainly because it’s one of my main techniques for relieving pain! It’s great that these exist, I hope you get your hands on one.
It is amazing isn’t it a nice bath, something I have really missed. One day I will have them again!
The walk in bath is amazing and such a great idea for those in need. I come from a care manager background so alternatives for those who require them where always forefront in my mind.
Oh I bet it really resonates with you then, having seen how people can struggle.
That walk in bathtub seems really practical and something anyone would need especially for someone older or with a disability. We would definitely change our bathroom to something similar when we are older.
Hopefully by then they might be a bit more cost effective!
I have been thinking of getting a walk in bath for my mother. She loves bath but she always has trouble getting up and I’m not always there to help. She would love it. Thanks for sharing.
No problem at all – I hope if you do go for it your Mother loves it.
I’ve always wanted one of those big stand alone tubs. They are so beautiful and look so relaxing.
They are such a lovely idea aren’t they. No matter the reason you go for one.
I think I’ve seen these tubs on television a few times. I always wondered just how useful they were. It actually looks good in the bathroom too!
I would love to see one in action, the door bit makes me think how does it not leak out lol.
I have seen similar walk in tubs here in Japan. I think I would want mine a bit bigger though
They do different types so this one was just my favourite as it had the nice shower too!
Since I have a shower cubicle in my apartment I think I need a huge tub so I can soak in, that’s the only adaptation I want but love your walk in idea
I hope one day you get your bath you are dreaming off one day!
As our population gets older, this would be so helpful. It’s hard to older people to step over a bathtub to get in.
I never realised walk in baths were a thing! I hope they come down in price so more people can get them who don’t have the motor ability for a “regular” bath
Most definitely I am going to keep an eye on them as I would love one for sure.
I have used one of those walk ins before and they are legit. They are a single person hot tub!
OK that makes me want one even more! I’m not sure I would ever even make out of it haha!
This is a great alternative for our bathrooms. I’m checking more into it.
It is such a fab idea isn’t it – I totally need one in my life.
No, I don’t have an adaptation in my bathroom and I don’t think this is my cup of tea but I appreciate the idea. You did get me thinking to the time I fell in the shower.
Luckily my Mum was there because I cut my head. She’s a retired nurse so she automatically sprang into action.
Thank you for posting this, it’s made me want to look into bars and slip resistant options.
Hey it’s never going to be for everyone – though when you have mobility issues your ideas quickly change on the things you would love too haha!
thats so interesting! I love the sound of the japanese baths that you can get these days that saves on space x
Ohh I’ll have to look into those as well – all these new things coming out to make life easier are great!
A walk in bath sounds like a dream! Designing your bathroom and choosing everything that goes inside is something i really want to get into! just need a house now ahah! xx corinne
It would be a dream for sure – one day I will manage it as well.
I don’t have any plans to adapt at the moment but I’m sure that will change. I hope you manage to get your walk in bath eventually – it sounds like you really want it.
Thank you – I have my fingers tightly crossed in hope!
I love a good bathtub and different design. This one is really different.
There is something really relaxing about a good bath isn’t there.
We’ve just had our bathroom redone and it’s so worth it!
There is something wonderful about it isn’t there, I am still so grateful for having the shower.
It took my mummy 4 months to lie down properly after her lung surgery and even now she finds bathtime a stressful and painful experience. This post has come at a good time and she really needs to think about her options moving forward. She used to really enjoy a soak too. 🙁 Fingers crossed you both find a bathroom solution x
I hope it helps your Mummy think of some ways to help her in the bathroom.
The house that we recently bought has an outdated bathrooms, it definitely needs some major lifts. These are great ideas that I need to keep in mind.
Good luck with revamping your bathroom!I hope i goes well.
Walk in Bathrooms are really so convenient. This one looks really elegant and has so many convenient functions too. Of course it must be really expensive..
It is amazing the different features you can for a bathroom now isn’t it.
My Nan had a walk in bath and it was incredible, so expensive though! x
Yeah the price is the bad thing isn’t it 🙁 I need to win the lottery I think.
I had no idea there was such a thing as a walk in bath either. My parents got rid of their bath for a double shower as my mum couldn’t get in or out of it so she’d love this as I know she misses a good bath x
There is nothing like a good bath sometimes, I love this offers both a bath and a shower as well so you can decide.
A walk in bath is something completely new to me but an awesome idea. It would be me favorite place to spend some ‘Me’ time after all the household chores.
It is such a neat idea isn’t it I love that it brings baths to those who aren’t so able.
I would love a walk-in bath, they look so handy especially with the shower on the side. I also love that they are compact and wouldn’t take much space!
That is true, they are perfect for smaller bathrooms as well!
I love a good and comfy bathroom where I can bathe and do my business without feeling uncomfortable or uneasy. I think it’s good to be able to do upgrades!
The bathroom has to be right I think, after all it’s a relax area in some ways.
It’s nice to make sure that your bathroom is a place where you feel comfortable. It would be nice to do an upgrade or at least update the bathroom after a couple of years!
Most definitely I think it is such an important area of the home.
I actually love the idea of the walk in bath tub. I have seen these at spas and thought how nice they would be for the home!
It is such an awesome idea isn’ t it – I think it will help a lot of people in the long run.
There are so many cool products out there – things have come a long way even in the 10 or so years I have been in my home. It would be fun to renovate with some of these.
It is great to see how things are changing and progressing as the years go on, opening all new ideas for us.
Aw I really hope that someone makes your dreams come true and gives you the walk in Bath that you have always dreamed of having. Here’s hoping!
Aw thank you! I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed haha!
You can answer me privately but why can’t you take a bath? I have creaky bones but I still take a bath once a week, this where I do my book reading. Walk in baths are a good idea for anyone with bad backs or hips.
It’s a mix of things, my fibro for the pain, my HMS for my joints going out of place and I just don’t have the strength to pull myself up and out anymore. I hate it lol.
I think walk in baths are so cool. I have some knee problems and I hate having to get out of a normal bath.
It can be so hard can’t it 🙁 I hate it.
I WOuld kill for a walk in tub. After a long day Ayckbourn work, that looks perfect
I think it is something that would help so many people for sure.
Wow a walk in bath is amazing! I love the idea that everyone can have a bath, what a great idea!
It is fab isn’t it – it’s one of life’s little luxuries.
This walk in bath would be great for people with mobility/flexibility issues and for older people too. I would seriously consider having one when me and my husband start finding difficulties getting into the tub. I know this is expensive so I guess we have to start saving for it now.
It is a shame it is so expensive, I’m definitely going to have to start saving myself.
My mother in law has a clawfoot tub and I’ve been crushing on it for years. She’s talked about updating her bathroom and I’m hoping she does so I can get that tub.
Oh those tubs are beautiful! I used to lust after those before as well.
This is definitely something that my parents have been considering because they’re getting older and it is hard to get into the tub. They have not actually pulled the trigger yet but I think they will soon.
I hope it really helps them in the long term if they do go for it!
I love the walk in tub look. I’ve always wanted to update my bathroom to a similar look.
Ohh I hope you manage to update your bathroom to include one!
It feels so much better to talk about issues that you’re dealing with in life. I think it’s a form of release. I’d love to make my bathroom even more comfy! I think it’s important to do so.
It really does, I feel so much better for doing it for sure!
I have never seen one of these walk in baths in real life! I wondered how they worked.. I’m sure this will be a great update to your bathroom one day.
I really am hoping – I do miss a good bath!
My dad ripped out the fiberglass tub years ago, and opted for a walk in shower. It’s made things so much easier for my mother at the time. Even though she is now gone, he is glad he did it, because with his aging, it has made things easier on him.
Having something you can access easily really can make such a difference to people.
I really wish I could update my bathroom soon! That tub looks super convenient! My bathroom needs a nice updating.
I hope one day you manage to update to the bathroom of your dreams!
That walk in tub looks really cute and convenient, not forgetting time saving when it comes to space saving.
That is so true, amazing that it really does take up less space.
A walk in bath would be interesting! I do want to upgrade my bathroom. Better sinks and fixtures. And flooring. It looks dated. At some point we want to do it!
I hope you manage to do the upgrades you are dreaming of as well soon!
Still have my doubts about walk in tubs. Know they are growing in popularity. Do you have to sit in the water waiting for it to drain before you can get out?
I would assume you would have to and sit in while it was filling as well or the water would come out the door area.
My Mom looked into walk-in baths a couple of years ago and learned they were very expensive. She’s got bad knees and can’t get into their current tub easily.
I think that’s why so many people just have a seat that rises and lowers into there own bath or like us has a shower put in I hope they come down in price at some point.
A walk in bath would be awesome. My parents looked into putting one in for my mom, but they are wicked expensive so they decided against it.
It’s a shame isn’t it – I dream they will come down in price one day.
The walk in sit down in the photo looks like it would be incredible!!!! Can you imagine a nice hot bubblet bath. Wow. And if i win the lotto then i will get one for you and one for me.
It would be amazing wouldn’t it – a hot tub of your own.
