Bathing With Ease?
Honestly, one thing I really struggle with, in the home is bathing.
I’ve spoken before about my issues in this area, I actually rang for another OT to come out earlier in the year which I am still waiting on. I was told as our current situation is deemed unsafe, I should sit on the toilet and strip wash.
Now if you have ever had to strip wash, it doesn’t leave you feeling particularly clean and don’t get me started on those no water shampoo hats! I tried one once and OH MY, it left my hair worse than before.
That said it isn’t a situation that has to go forever. There are companies out there offering bathing options that help people with limited mobility or the elderly generations.
Walk-in Baths.
One thing I really miss is having a bath.
Getting in with a bath bomb and just relaxing for a while. There’s nothing quite like it is there?
What is more walk-in baths have come such a long way in recent years. I mean just check out all about this one from Premier Bathrooms, perfect for those who want to work on their chakras. How cool is that?
One thing I like about the bath collection is they offer different types, for different mobility options.
From those which you can walk in and just sit in, to those which you walk into and then you lower yourself into, which look a lot like a traditional bath.
Walk-in Showers.
Walk-in showers are of course the most commonly known bathroom change for people with limited mobility, that alongside a full wetroom.
They offer a place to shower with ease and often come with a stool which means you can be safer when washing.
And sometimes all we need is a good shower, isn’t it?
What I love though is there is a choice. Something for everyone no matter what their mobility levels are, as sometimes when you can’t do things, you feel as though you have no choice.
You just need to work out what is right for your situation.

With having a disabled husband we have a walk in shower, but have to admit, i do miss having a bath
I bet it is hard – I miss being able to have a bath at times I have to say.
I’m sorry this is something you struggle with. It’s not good for anyone’s health to not have a safe, comfortable place to wash. These suggestions for adaptations are great.
Having to bath in a walk-in shower is very Relaxing and amazing I Trust it when it comes to proper cleans of my body it just does the job With a walk-in shower however you can create more of an open space and add a design element to your bathroom.
Most definitely there is so much you do isn’t there with the bathroom.
I love a good bath time. It’s just that with kids, young kids, I hardly have some private time for many years.

I suffer with chronic pain, but I can still get in the bath. Having said that I only do so when my husband is in the house, as I have a horrible habit of falling over. I hope you’re able to sort out your bathing issues soon. I know how much relaxing in a bath can help with pain.
I have to admit I only do a shower when my other half is around as I worry it’s a shame isn’t it.
I have a shower over the bath but I know the time is coming when I won’t be able to get in. 🙁
It’s so hard isn’t it 🙁 it feels like just the simple things are being taken away.
It’s true, there’s nothing like a warm relaxing bath. But what I would like is a nice rainwater showerhead installed.
I have to admit I really would love a good rainwater showerhead as well, they look amazing.
Love having a relaxing bath after a quite stressful day at work (I’m admin for the NHS!) So like a traditional bath. But a shower is good when you just need a quick wash, or you have woken up late! lol. These baths & showers are amazing x
There is something wonderful about both isn’t there. They definitely have a time and place.
I like the idea of a walk in bath. It does look so very relaxing. My grandmother had one and she had a problem with it over time, unfortunately. Maybe she just couldn’t clean it right.
Oh no that’s such a shame! I am guessing cleaning them would be hard as you would still need to bend over.
I am a shower person, not so much with the bath so I would very much love a nice walk-in shower. Spacious enough for me to sing and dance. lol
It would be wonderful wouldn’t it – I’ve stayed in some beautiful locations where I wish I could take the shower home lol.
When I worked as a carer I remember who uncomfortable strip washes were for our patients until we had a walk-in bath, everything changed.
They are horrid aren’t they – they don’t leave you feeling any better than before and just sad you can’t clean properly on top.
We have a bath although only little J uses it. The rest of us use the walk in shower which is perfect to feel refreshed and awake.
Taking a bath, especially after a tiring day is such a relief. I also love clean and spacious bathrooms just like in the photo.
I definitely miss being able to have a bath one day perhaps!
I definitely would hate not being able to take a bath. I rely on it to relax my body after a long day.
It is something I’ve sort of got used to but really do miss.
They have such beautiful products and style!! I would love to have these options in our bath!

I have seen tons of ads for those walk-in baths and I hope they are still around when the time comes for me to need one. LOL!

I used to struggle getting in and out of the bath, so I had a wet-room put in, bathing is so much easier now
I bet that is such a relief to have things a bit easier on yourself.
I love hot baths, but a shower does the trick as well. More so with the right showerhead.
The showerhead can make all the difference can’t it?
I love showers. That’s when I come up with the best solution to things.
Sometimes they are so refreshing aren’t they a nice way to unwind!

Most definitely I think it’s just one of those things we take for granted until we can’t.
I just had my master redone, it is wheel chair accessible but also a walk in shower. I wish I had a rain style shower though!

There really is something for everyone these days which is great.
The walk in Bath and wet rooms are fantastic, my fiancé’s parents have a wet room with a seat for my father in law who has skin cancer, diabetes and really struggles, we have a bath with an over head shower which is convenient as our children love to bath and we prefer a shower, but my fiance suffered a heart attack last year resulting in heart failure and needing a transplant so we need a walk in shower or wet room, he doesn’t like to lay in the bath, at the moment I have to help him which he finds a struggle as he’s always been so independent and is only 43 xx
It is amazing how much more independent it makes you feel isn’t it. I’m hoping I get something which helps more soon.
Oh I wish we have a tub so I can relax for a few minutes or hours, maybe? But I might not be able to use it often so I am okay with shower.
Perhaps one day your get to have a tub as well! I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Probably in my top 5 rooms within the house. I’m a shower man myself rather a bath. These do look very nice indeed.
It is a very important room within the home isn’t it!
We have an old fashioned claw foot tub and walk-in shower. The shower is great (even though it isn’t fancy,) but the tub is a little tough for me to get in. A walk-in tub sounds intriguing.
Oh now that sounds beautiful! I would love to have a really nice looking bath – not that I could use it lol.
Glad that they offer so many choices. I would love to have a walk-in shower and a tub because sometimes I just prefer a shower and sometimes I want to relax in a tub.
They do a mix where you can have a shower above as well which I think is great!

I have to be honest it never occured to me that younger people, like yoursef might also need an accessible bathing option. My Nan had a walk in shower/ bath combo with a seat and it was amazing for her, as it allowed her independence. Mich x
I honestly don’t think it would have to me bar the fact I need them.
There is nothing like having a hot shower that not only wakes you up and leaves you feeling refreshed but inspires you to take on the day ahead. The walk-in-bath does sound very attractive.

My parents got rid of their bath as my mum had mobility problems which meant she couldn’t get in or out of one. But a walk in bath would have been amazing for her x

I never really thought of what luxury it is to have a bath! I love a good piercing shower, though, but I totally agree that strip washing is not the best.
I miss a good bath, I used to be able to sit in a bath and relax for hours.
We need to redo the bathroom that connects to our bedroom. I’m loving that tiled walk in shower. We have a walkin shower, but I want it redone with tile.
They can really look so nice these days can’t they!
We are more shower people and would love a wet room style bathroom, but my daughter who is ill prefers a bath as she can sit in it and it relieves her pains for a bit, but she sometimes has difficulty getting in and out of it x
You can get seats that are placed onto baths which help lower and raise people out? Social Services can give them to you I’m not sure if that would help her?
Oh wow I never thought about all these other options. I’ve always been more of a shower person myself.
It is one of those things that if you don’t need I don’t think you really think about.

I really love the tile work with the backsplash. It is a very unique design and the overall bathroom is pretty beautiful.
I can’t remember the last time I had a bath, I’m far too tall (and fat) for mine at home. I would give anything to have the space to get a larger one, I really miss lying in a warm bath.
Ash has the same issue with ours, he’s 6ft something or other and I have to admit the first time he got into the bath he called me I cracked up laughing his knees were around his ears, I hadn’t realised how small the bath was till then.
I love bathing and I’d prefer to have a tub rather than a shower. However, these designs are really pretty and I could have such a bathroom for sure! 🙂

We don’t have a bathtub in my home and honestly, I’m okay with that. I’m more of a shower girl anyway and that’s okay.
There’s something about a shower at times isn’t there. I’ve recently found shower bombs are a thing as well.
I love having just a shower, but I also love being able to drop a bath bomb in the tub, put on some music, and relax.
It is great when you can manage both! The best of both worlds as they say.
I do love these styles! I normally take showers, but I’d love a larger one. The one we currently have is pretty small. And ugly, if I’m being honest.
The type of shower can really make a difference on how it feels can’t it?
Its so great that you are bringing to light more options for bathing those with limited mobility. I imagine a good deep soak can only help those with chronic pain issues as well. What a drastic change from strip washes. Everyone deserves to feel truly clean!
Honestly, you never feel clean when you strip wash, or at least I don’t it’s horrid :(. I find being in water helps ease the pain a bit – I guess as it supports you but it’s just so hard.
The bathroom should be a place to relax! Having a walk-in tub or shower makes this easier for those with mobility issues. A strip wash doesn’t sound relaxing at all.

I’m a shower type of girl so I love a huge, walk-in shower. If it was up to me, I wouldn’t even bother with a tub.
That would be amazing – I’ve used some wonderful ones at spas which really leave you feeling refreshed.
The bathroom is undoubtedly a place of relief, I personally consider it my small SPA, the room of the house where I try to find serenity and why we where I take refuge when I want to be alone.
It most definitely can be a place to relax and unwind.
