August 18 – Life in a Lockdown #20
Happy week 20!
Slowly more and more things are opening over here. It is interesting to see how different businesses are opening.
This week we have decided to change the questions a little, it something we might play with over the coming weeks until we feel we have got them right.
So if you’ve been taken part do check out what they have been edited to. Plus if you have any ideas on how we can expand then do let us know.
As always I have to kick off this post with saying thank you to Bex at Futures for coming on this journey of lockdown remembrance each week and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part I promise it is simple:
We do ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, with how you find the link-up! You will be able to copy all the questions from below to answer in your own world.
Then all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and pop your link in the inlinkz so we can come and read your post.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What are your priorities at the moment, have you changed what you will / won’t go out for?
4) Have you found anywhere doing a really good job of catering to social distancing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week?
7) What have you learnt over lockdown (this doesn’t have to be a skill, it could be about yourself, your family, or something else).
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 20 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I had BDT and then a phone call with my CPN last week, I find things like this just completely zap my energy.
Honestly, I feel like I could curl up and sleep for a very long time.
I think the weather changing doesn’t help as well.
Let’s see what the next week holds.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
I’ve been trying to work on updating / deleting old posts and slowly by surely I’m getting there.
Other than that exhaustion and pain has overtaken everything really.
3) What are your priorities at the moment, have you changed what you will / won’t go out for?
We are staying the same as we have been. We are only going out when we have to.
I’ve had to make and opticians appointment, it’s been almost a year since I had my CXL and my hospital appointment was cancelled so I thought it was best at least someone looked at them.
I’m a little worried about it, to be honest with you. However, I know with my vision problems it is a must.
4) Have you found anywhere doing a really good job of catering to social distancing?
I’ve been surprised by the places we have been to and how well they have been doing.
We popped into Lichfield the other day as Ash fancied a Chinese. It was something I had been worried about for a long time, but they had everything so well set out.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
I went searching on Etsy for a hagstone which I wanted for outside the front door and came away with a candle + hagstone.

It came from the fantastic LunarescentWax (affiliate link).
They are a shop who specialise in vegan fragrance and offer candles, diffusers and room sprays.
I already have another candle on my wishlist to buy from them.
6) How has your routine been this week?
A bit all over the place.
I’ve been waking up and staring at the ceiling for hours at a time. I’m not sure if it’s depression, the heat or a mix of a few things.
I do know that the DBT is making me try and face up to everything I’ve buried. The times I know I should grieve but just go numb instead.
Hopefully long term it will help.
7) What have you learnt over lockdown (this doesn’t have to be a skill, it could be about yourself, your family, or something else).
This is hard for me as I don’t know if I’ve learnt much. I guess in some ways I’ve been strong than I thought.
However, in other ways, I worry that I’ve just hidden everything, down in that pit of numbness.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Having people around to speak to, who keep me going.
I can’t imagine what it has been like for people who live alone during this time and have issues which mean they have had to be alone for so long. As humans, we are social beings.

You are doing ever so well and you are strong. Ive been away so I haven’t saw or read your progress but you are doing everything you should do to stay safe. Somethings can’t be avoided, such as appointments. I’m sorry your still tired and in pain. The stress of the situation isn’t helping I bet. Keep doing what you are doing. Your doing great x
Thank you – it’s hard isn’t it – sometimes you just need to push yourself through everything and get going on. Definitely wish I could just be normal again.
I hope you will be better soon. Just keep going, fighting and praying. Everything has a reason.
Thank you so much, I definitely agree – we can all get through this.
I just feel so sad about this lockdown or pandemic, all I hoped is for it to end soonest and that other people learnt their lessons too.
Definitely I would love things to just go back to normal – thought I struggle to remember normal now.
I am glad to hear that some businesses are starting to operate again. It’s a great help for all of us. That candle + hagstone looks soo cool.
It’s nice that people are being able to go back to work – so far the 2nd wave hasn’t hit us *fingers crossed* so I hope things keep being positive.
This lockdown has made me realize a lot of things and thought me to be grateful. It’s not been easy.
It is hard isn’t it – sometimes just trying to stay positive can feel like you are hanging on by your finger tips.
It is an interesting time because Covid numbers are low here in NY, but we had to make a decision about school and to go remote with our kids. It is really hard to plan on anything and I don’t like having so many things we are unsure about.
It sounds like NY is being really sensible for now! Though they were really hit hard at one point were they?
Thinking of you and hope you are able to see the doctor soon. School starts next week here.
Thank you – I hope the back to school time goes OK for you.
I don’t think the hot weather has helped anyone, I found it difficult to relax as I was so hot. Hope you get your appointment with the doctor quickly. We are hoping to eat out tomorrow for my son’s birthday although not many place are open
I hope you manage to find somewhere to go for your sons birthday and he has a lovely day.
I am wishing you to set or get an appointment with your Doctor as soon as possible and I am praying for your fast healing.
Thank you so much that means a lot to me.
Well our area is back to lockdown but doesn’t make much sense. I live in Yorkshire where Bradford has had an increase in cases my town has not and no cases in our hospital . The council haven’t done a good job. It’s back to not seeing my grandson in the garden yet you can eat out and go to the pub and beer gardens . Our gardens are large so I don’t think it’s fair . Feeling pretty down
I can’t understand these new lockdown rules as, as you say they make no sense at all?! You have less chance of passing it on in a small family group than with strangers in a beer garden.
Our family is still living in lockdown type mode. It was interesting to read your story about how you are dealing iwth things under these strang and different circumstances.
It’s hard isn’t it – we are doing the same, I can’t see that changing anytime soon either.
I can’t imagine how tough it must be for people who live alone/ don’t have anyone with them. Hope you’re doing okay x
The same here, I just feel so sorry for them, I couldn’t imagine having got through this without Ash.
I definitely agree with the sentiment of wanting to curl up and sleep for a while. I am so darn worn out. Hope you feel better soon!
It’s hard isn’t it – it’s such a weird tiredness going around at the moment I think.
Fingers crossed the opticians appointment goes okay – I need to book one myself at some point! Definitely going to check out the company you got the candle from!
Thank you so much – I’m not looking forward to it at all.
We need opticians appointments as well, more so C as it was them who found her IIH problems, I have contacted them but not heard anything regarding an appointment yet
Oh no – I hope you can get something done soon, I’m not sure if I got lucky because of my eye issue or if most are open as normal.
20 weeks! Wow! I can’t believe it! Right now where we stay we need to respect rules, wear masks but we feel better. Maybe because it’s summer, who knows!
Definitely, if everyone wore a mask transition rate would come right down I think.
Our routine is still abit all over the place, we are preparing for the kids to go back but who knows, we are still limited in things we are doing and places that we can go, hopefully it gets better soon..
I hope everything goes OK with the kids going back it must be so worrying for parents.
It’s so important to take it one day at a time.
Definitely I think it helps with coping doing it one day at a time.
I’m sorry you are in pain. I hope you feel better soon and are able to get that appointment set up.
Thank you so much – thankfully I spoke to my physio who was helpful.
Ooo I love that candle. I might have to get one. I love Etsy.
I find going out to food has gone well. Restaurants are safely set up.
Etsy is fantastic isn’t it – I have to admit it smells amazing, I have their tea tree one next on my list.
We have been lucky because we have stayed healthy through all of this. My daughter left for school so I am hoping she will be ok.
I am so glad you have all stayed healthy I hope all goes well for your daughter.
Keep going. We will all get there in the end xxx
Thank you and you as well – one day at a time!
Just gotta keep going, one step at a time! well done!
Definitely – we can do it just need to keep talking, keep going and stay healthy.
