August 11 – Life in a Lockdown #19
So here we are again. More places are slowly going into lockdown once again. We are OK here at the moment. Though I do wonder how long that will last.
Although I try and stay away from the news, I often see it pop up on my social media feed, or someone mentions it to me.
I guess only time will tell what the future holds for everyone around the world and if that second wave comes.
As always I have to kick off this post with saying thank you to Bex at Futures for coming on this journey of lockdown remembrance each week and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part I promise it is simple:
We do ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, with how you find the link-up! You will be able to copy all the questions from below to answer in your own world.
Then all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and pop your link in the inlinkz so we can come and read your post.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
4) What advice do you have for others?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week?
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?
8) Anything else?

So what did week 19 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
To be honest, as I type this I feel absolutely numb bar being tired.
Part of me just wants to completely rebel and just say forget all this.
I see so many people who were getting everything during the lockdown, now acting like everything is back to normal and I’m here still trying to struggle on, with no help because we are only “high risk”.
Perhaps it’s jealously, I don’t know.. I just want to be normal.
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
I signed up for a 7 day free trial of Shudder via Amazon Prime Video (affiliate link) and have been watching Supermax on my computer when my eyes have been up to it.

It’s actually really good if you can put up with subtitles. (Yes for some reason the screenshot shows the audio is in English but it isn’t). I would definitely recommend giving it a try.
I’ve also been trying to update posts on here. I know my blog is an absolute mess when it comes to old posts and them not being optimised. I am slowly hoping to change that, but it’s getting the energy to do it.
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
Nothing new here – still staying at home most of the time.
We did see a neighbour at a social distance in their garden and also went to my parents. However, that is the extent of our activity.
4) What advice do you have for others?
Don’t bottle things up – I know I am feeling like I want to scream at the moment.
So I try and talk about those emotions with friends and loved ones. It helps.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
My brain has gone blank on this one. I’m sure I did, I, however, blame the fact I took my meds at 3 am last night after forgetting them so I’m running on well I don’t know what.
6) How has your routine been this week?
Yeah, it’s been OK – I slept longer towards the latter end of the week (last night excluded).
I guess one of the issues with having ME is I never know how much sleep I’m going to get and how long I’m going to stay in bed for.
Although it’s easiest to say I sleep / I’m tired, the feeling isn’t like normal tiredness, it’s hard to describe.
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over this week?
Nope, I am losing hope that for us at least anything will change anytime soon. Making plans just to see them being pushed further back is hard.
8) Anything else.

I can totally feel you! I’m just trying to hold myself keeping my sanity alive!
It’s so hard isn’t it – I sometimes feel like I’m holding on with my fingertips.
Another week gone by. I think I am getting quite used to it, but it all changes this week for us. Hang in there x
Ekk I hope the changes go OK for you! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed.
When the initial lockdown happened, I honestly didn’t think it would go as long as it has. I’m finding it draining.
It’s crazy isn’t it – I thought it would be over in a month or so.
I can definitely relate with you but I am keeping myself strong for my family. I hope everything will be well soon. I will check out this 7 day free trial of Shudder via Amazon Prime Video!
It is quite good – I liked the Host a lot it was interesting as all gone in lockdown via zoom!
Oh hun, I can definitely relate to the feeling numb! I go through phases of trying to stay positive, then guilt for the kids who are beyond bored after 5+ months at home and then just numbness. I dont think I want to believe that this “normal” is in fact the new normal. I so regret moaning before when we had all that freedom which I totally took for granted!
I think it will be normal until we have a way to control the virus, at least that’s what I keep telling myself – it’s only for now.
I have to check out that Shudder subscription. I’ve never heard of it before, but I love movies!
It’s all horror movies so as long as you love horror it’s OK – I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it up long term but might be something I dip in and out of.
Last few weeks I started to rebel. I’m sick of this lockdown. I got to the point I just don’t care. I just want to get out and have life. BUT I know it’s still not safe. I know I have to be responsible. Hang on. We’ll get trough this.
It is hard isn’t it – we know what we should / shouldn’t do and I am being good, but oh my the want to not is huge.
This lockdown doesn’t end. I think we need to live with it for the moment, to be always prepared!
Definitely I think it will be our normal for a while to come to be honest.
We have finally started leaving the house more often but we still stay away from other people as much as possible.
I think we all need to get out sometimes, being indoors all the time isn’t good for us at all.
I was doing ok up until recently when the first day of school was finally announced. Guess I have to stop avoiding it. Bring on anxiety!
Oh gosh I hope it all goes well with the kids going back!
Working in a supermarket I see so many people behaving like nothing is wrong and going about their business as if nothing has happened, although we have enjoyed days out, we are still social distancing
I can’t imagine how hard it is working in a supermarket and coming across that.
I am trying to update some old posts too – it takes so much time doesn’t it? It is so important not to bottle things up.
It’s so hard I want to give up already haha! I just hope it will make some sort of difference.
Sounds like it has been a tough week and you are right, sometimes we just need to talk, via text, sms, whatsapp, chat, email whatever that works so that you feel like there are others there with the same plight as you. Hope this coming week feels much better.
Definitely I don’t think it’s normal for anyone no matter how anti-social you are to stay away from others for so long.
On gosh it’s horrid that it’s going on so long . Just wish it would go away now. I’ve been feeling rebellious too . It’s so hard
It’s so easy to just feel like you want to go and do everything you shouldn’t but also scary.
We tried the free trail of Shudder, but didn’t think that much to it, so cancelled after the 7 days.
I’m still on the free trial I’m really not sure if I’ll keep it going.
I’m getting more and more frustrated with the situation, in the supermarkets they have now decided a one way system isn’t needed because of the mask rule, but not everyone can wear a mask, and social distancing is still supposed to be happening, mask or not, but they’ve turned into a free for all. I just wish people would think more about why we are having take these measures and less about their freedoms and liberties, there’s no freedom when you’re on a ventilator!
It seems silly – a one-way system with masks would make things so much easier and you would still go past everything in the store.
My sleep pattern has been all over the places because its too hot, the reality is many people arent following the rules which frustrates me on a daily bases, especially at work when i see people not giving a damn, but they will be the first to moan when we get back into lockdown, Amazon prime is great BTW.
Exactly – I don’t get why people think it’s all over you just know they will be complaining when / if things go downhill again.
I totally understand how you feel. I hope everything goes well for all of us.
I will check out that 7 day free trial of Shudder via Amazon Prime Video today!
It’s interesting if you like horror – not sure if will keep me going for long.
Even though some places are having another lockdown, I do like to think that things are definitely getting better. Will we have a second wave? Only time will tell, but I have a feeling that this virus is running its course. Stay safe!
I think it’s wait and see as well – I was sure at first now I can only hope that we don’t.
Hang in there! Things are slowly opening up here but we’re not in a hurry to get back to “normal”. We’re still very cautious. But hopeful.
We are the same I can’t imagine us going back to normal for a long time to be honest.
Thanks for the update. Ready for normalcy like most people.
I think normality will be a long time coming.
We have been heading out more recently but we are doing so whilst till keeping our distance as much as possible from others.
I think if you can get out it is worth getting out and about for sure.
Another week gone by! I am so tired of the pandemic, and hope we can find a way to make it go away soon. Hang in there!
I have to admit I am tired of it and absolutely tired from it as well. What a year.
I understand wanting to be a rebel and just go for it. Sometimes when I am out in my backyard I can forget for a few minutes we are in the middle of a pandemenic.
It is hard isn’t it, I always seem to want to rebel against things lol.
I totally get the ME and tiredness part you can not describe it. I totally get the feeling of wanting to rebel and just going for it. We have sort of but not fully as too aware of the what ifs. Last week we picked my mother in law up when we went to see my granddaughter, as we pulled up I had to toot her as she was across the road chatting to new neighbours, C just said well that isn’t social distancing
It’s horrid isn’t it – impossible to describe. I think you are right on just having to do some things.
