Transitional Must-Haves for Your Wardrobe
PR Sample – I was sent a pair of Dune Pippie Boots for consideration on my blog.
As the seasons shift, so does our wardrobe. One minute it’s sunny, the next it’s chilly enough to need a coat, so let’s welcome transitional dressing in the UK!
The fun of fashion at this time of year is finding those key pieces that bridge the gap between seasons, allowing your wardrobe to be ready for anything. Here are some must-haves to see you through in style.
Boots That Go With Everything

A good pair of ankle boots is a transitional wardrobe essential. They can keep you warm when the temperature drops, while still not feeling too heavy for those milder days.
I’m especially loving the Pippie boots in black suede from Dune right now. They’re comfy, versatile, and effortlessly stylish. The kind of boots that work with everything from jeans to skirts and dresses.
If you’ve not heard of Dune before, they are a go-to brand for footwear and bags all year round. They offer an amazing range which balances fashion with practicality and comfort. The Pippie boots are a perfect example of this: as they are classy enough for a night out, yet comfortable enough to wear all day.
Midi Dresses
Midi dresses are a dream for transitional weather. Look to pair them with tights and boots when it’s cooler, or with trainers and a light jacket on warmer days. Florals, checks, or solid colours, whatever your style, a good midi will easily carry you between seasons.
Lightweight Layers
Layering is your best friend when the weather can’t make up its mind. Think cardigans, lightweight jumpers, and shackets (the shirt-jacket hybrid that is a perfect addition to any outfit). These are perfect to throw on when there’s a chill in the air, but easy enough to carry or tie around your waist when the sun makes an appearance.
Crossbody Bags

When the weather’s unpredictable, the last thing you want is to be juggling an awkward bag. Enter the crossbody. Offered in a range of styles, they can be either smart or fun, but they are always practical and just big enough for your essentials. If you’re not sure where to start looking, Dune also has you covered, with bags that complement any outfit while adding a stylish touch.
The Trench Coat
Classic, timeless, and oh-so-wearable, the trench coat is the ultimate transitional piece. Offering a coat which is light enough to wear on mild days yet still provides enough coverage for rainy afternoons. Look to pair it with jeans and boots, or layer it over a dress; it’s a wardrobe essential that never goes out of style.
Scarves and Accessories

Sometimes all you need is a cosy scarf to make your outfit feel seasonal. Look for lightweight fabrics in early autumn and chunkier knits as winter approaches. Remember, don’t underestimate the power of accessories; they’re small details which can completely transform your look and keep you feeling warm.
Transitional dressing doesn’t have to be stressful; it’s all about having a few key items that you can mix and match. From a trusty trench coat to those dreamy Dune Pippie boots, these wardrobe staples will keep you looking stylish no matter what the weather throws your way.
What’s your must-have transitional wardrobe piece?

I have a pair of boots I wear with everything, so much so though the soles have now worn down and I’ve had to stuff a flat sock in as a makeshift insole. Wish I’d bought 2 pairs at the time.
Oh no! Could you take them to a cobblers and see if they can do anything to help? They are so good sometimes.
