Home Comfort Ideas
There is often no place like home, it is somewhere we all think of as comforting, relaxing and a place where we can be ourselves.
However, there are always ways we can make it feel more our own and help it show off our own personalities.
So here are some ideas for home comforts you can create over the coming week and months.
Clear the Clutter.

Now is a great time to spend some time clearing the clutter.
Make groups of things you want to keep, can sell or can donate. You might just be surprised how much you have around the home that you don’t actually use or need!
If you have a lot of ornaments you could always store some and swap them out as the season’s change. After all, it is nice to have something different to look at from time to time.
Think About The Floors.
Flooring is an utterly personal choice, for many and these days there is so much choice.
From carpets to beautiful rugs ontop harder floor choices.
Flooring can often be a focal point of the room or can be used to blend and allow other places to take the eye.
Wooden floors are hugely popular, and they have the benefit of being stylish, warm, and easy to clean. However, even within this bracket, there are a number of options, including solid timber, cork, bamboo, and floating floors – all of which have their own unique properties and aesthetic.
With such a versatile piece of the room at hand, take some time to think it over and choose what is right for you. Somewhere like Westcoast Floors is a great place to go for inspiration, and to take a look at what floor choice might work for you.
Picture Your Walls.
One thing I love is putting together items on the wall that make me happy.
These can be pictures of loved ones, painting or art pieces. It doesn’t matter, as long as when you look at them, you smile.
Personally I have a whole range of different items, from pictures of our old pets to clocks, banners with pins on and some beautiful art pieces by talented crafters.
Beautiful Flowers.

Sometimes it is nice to be able to bring something from the outside into the home.
So why not bring in some flowers.
Maybe you have some you pick from your garden to make a beautiful bouquet. Or there are a number of letterbox delivery companies now who could bring some directly to your front door.
Light Up With Lighting.
One of the most important things in any room is lighting.
Too bright and it can be too stark, to low and you can’t find the things you want.
Sometimes you can make things work by building up light using different lamps, as well as your overhead light. While fairy lights can help bring in a unique glow as well.
Dedicate a Comfy Corner.

One thing I love within my own home is my comfy corner.
For me, it’s just my sofa, but it is somewhere I can curl up and relax and spend time watching a good film, listening to a good book, or just spending time with family.
However, this is an important place within the home to me as it allows me somewhere to unwind and feel safe on bad days.
These are just a few home comfort ideas, but I hope they help you out.

Great home comfort ideas!
I love displaying photos of my travels on my walls.
love the comfy corner idea
I think what makes a home cosy is the personal touches that reflect who you are as a family I love nature so that is reflected in my home. My freind always comes into my home and says why is yours so cosy and mine isnt because she follows trends and not her heart.
In lock down I have been sorting out cupboards and slowly tackling the painful task of sorting out my late husbands things a clean home is a happy home.
I’ve been keeping myself busy by doing lots of projects at home, including having another go at re-upholstering a chair that I started work on over a year ago! In our house it’s just me, my husband and our 2 elderly cats, and it’s a bit quiet, so when I’m working I put on a playlist of songs that bring back memories that I can sing along to as I work on a creative task. I find this is better than the radio as I don’t really want to be listening to doom and gloom on the news bulletins.
That sounds like such a fun project, best of luck with it!
Superb, These are great ideas! We have a lot of time now, so this is perfect. Thank you!
Hopefully, it gives some people some ideas to DIY at home.
Good ideas – love the idea of a comfy corner that sounds fab!
Doesn’t it sound nice – there’s nothing like having your own space.
Lots of good ideas here. I suppose now is the perfect opportunity to spice up my home a little bit, seeing as I’m in lock-down.
Definitely – get your creative head on and have some fun!
I think the key to having a comfortable and cosy home is keep things simple. Warm colours, not much clutter and I agree, warm lighting.
Sounds like you have things down! Love it!
Some really great ideas here 🙂 I love pictures on the wall for a cosy feel . Also candles are a great way of setting a room
There is nothing like a good piece of wall decor is there?
Could use a good clutter in my home while on lockdown and I have just changed my favourite room where I like to be added a mustard throw to my sofa and some new shades of purple cushion covers looks kind of springtime plus I won some lovely sunset canvasses from you they are so bright and cheerful so they’ve gone up . X
Ohh it sounds like you are adding some lovely touches!
I agree – having photos on the wall and fresh flowers around make your home feel so cosy and personal to you 🙂
It really does make all the difference sometimes doesn’t it – reminds me of happy times.
Clutter is something that I can’t bare to sit and look at. I need things tidied away or stacked neatly in piles.
It is hard isn’t it – I always feel uneasy around clutter, but also create so much of it.
I really want to swap out the flooring in my house. I’m not a fan of carpet anymore and I’d rather have something more durable in its place. We have bad allergies so carpet is not allergy friendly. Our allergies were better when we lived in a home with all laminate floors.
We have all laminate now and it is so much easier to keep it clean I feel.
I really do need a de-clutter, but find it so hard to start, having lived in the same place for nearly 27 years. I do love playing with lighting though, and I do change the photos and pictures on my walls periodically.
It is so hard isn’t it – I often look around and think what could I get rid of but everything has a memory.
Those are some great ideas and would definitely try them out. I’m always up for having more beautiful potted flowers inside our home.
There’s nothing like having flowers or plants in the home is there?
Nowadays, we really need to stay at home for our safety. But admit it, staying at home might be a little boring. These home comfort ideas are really helpful. Thanks for sharing.
It really can be a bit boring can’t it! I hope these give some ideas to make a little easier though.
These are great ideas! We have a lot of time now, so this is perfect. Thank you!
We have got to stay busy haven’t we?
I have a lot of decluttering to do. I’m working on catching up on some blog work and my kids school work, then I had plans on doing some decluttering. I know we have a lot to get rid of around here.
It sounds like you have a good plan to work with – best of luck with it!
Lots of great ideas. I have resorted to a lot of these. I wish the flowers would start blooming outside because, right now, I’m trying to not go anywhere unnecessarily so unfortunately, no fresh flowers in the house. Decluttering feels cathartic right now
I am the same, there is something so uplifting when you see flowers start to bloom isn’t there?
Decluttering makes a big difference, but I also really love adding plants to my life. Plants are one of my “guilty pleasures.” I know technically that I could spend my money on more practical things, but they give me such a lift.
It seems to be something so many people love to have in the home – I’m loving seeing mine grow!
I’m definitely spending some of this lockdown time updating our lounge and making it even more comfortable and a place we can all feel totally relaxed. Mich x
I’m trying to think about what we can do to get the place more cosy and nice a deep cleaned lol.
Love this! Thanks for the push to declutter/clear some space since we have a little bit of time on our hands. Next on my list? Having a comfy corner!
There are things we can definitely do to take up some time isn’t there.
These ideas are awesome! I need some color in my home!
There is nothing like having some colour around the home is there!
This is an especially good time to make sure your home feels comfortable. These are great ideas for maximizing time at home.
It really is – it gives you something to do at this time as well.
We had so many plans to declutter due to this enforced isolation but they have closed the tips, so have no where to move stuff too #sob
That is an issue, it’s a pain isn’t it when you need something like that but it’s closed.
Would you believe we don’t have any pictures up in our home! No idea how that happened but it’s a good idea to get some up and add some colour or a focal point to some of the rooms.
Get some up there you go your lockdown challenge!
These home comfort ideas are awesome! Me and my wife are thinking of decluttering, too. Thanks for sharing this.
Ohh it sounds like you have some good plans – I hope all is well with you.
Pictures on the wall really TIE homes together!!! My husband and I put a bunch on the walls and made our house super cozy!
They really make a difference don’t they – I love having things up on all the walls.
We have been working on clutter! I would like to get some flowers as well. We could use more color.
I think we all need a bit of colour in our lives right now don’t we!
I am planning a declutter and perfect time with having to stay in. Once we have done that I have so many plans and already looking at those little finishing touches x
It gives you something to do doesn’t it? I think I need to do the same for sure and just get on with things.
I love adding candles and various scents around my home. Especially throws, it really makes for such a relaxing atmosphere.
Hands up I am the same I love a good candle around the home it makes so much difference.
I’m planning to do a decluttering while I am at home. Also, planning to deep clean the house. I feel like both of those things will make everything cozier.
This is such a good idea – I need to think about doing a deep clean.
I do love being home maybe a little too much. I like to collect things and never throw out my kids school work. I know it leads to clutter but I need these keepsakes.
Aww but they are lovely memories! I don’t blame you on keeping things like that.
