  1. I think some people are better at expressing themselves through blogging, sometimes people are better at vlogging, I think it also depends what type of audience you want to appeal to, I would much rather read blogs than watch vlogging 🙂

  2. I guess there are just people who loves each of it, blogging and vlogging. For me, blogging is for me but vlogging is not a forte but I’d love to learn about it. Maybe it will boost my confidence to record myself on video.

  3. Even though I have done well with public speaking I don’t have the urge to try out Vlogging. I really enjoy writing and will stay on that path for the meantime.

  4. I love blogging and hate vlogging – I don’t like myself on camera, but I am secretly obsessed with my own writing lol

  5. I used to think we had to look a certain way and speak a certain way to be a vlogger. Over the past 3 months I have watched loads of Book Tube vloggers though and it shows that anyone can do it. Some of my favourite you tubers pause when they are speaking and make mistakes. Some are generally hilariou. Lots of them are large people but this more often than not makes them appear more realistic and watchable. Have a go!

  6. I’ve tried vlogging and I hate it. I can do it, and sometimes I find a company really wants me to create a vlog and I will collaborate not hat but I try to avoid it. I prefer writing and having the ability to talk through pen and paper (as such). x

  7. I’ve done vlogging and still do occassionally. I also create helpful videos, but blogging is where my passion lays

  8. I love blogging. I would love to do more video – but that will have to wait until all of my kids are in school this fall. You do have to adapt and change. That is the same with any business.

    1. Good luck with taking on vlogging, I agree you do have to adapt and change, I just don’t think you have to feel as though you must vlog and blog, blogging still has life left 🙂

  9. I’m so glad you have said this, I hate vlogging too, I have done it on occasion, but you know that old saying about a great face for radio…that is definitely me!

    1. I do honestly believe blogging has so much life left in it, the written world will always be a thing!

  10. I think it really depends on the skills that you have, there are people who are better at writing than sitting in front of the camera. Vlogging isn’t killing blogging, it’s just that bloggers/vloggers have chosen a platform that they’re more comfy in.

  11. Its all about the content and the passion. Its not about how you look… look in tv, there are a lot of faces that are horribly ugly and I think you are not even close to that. I hope you dont get me wrong… All I want to say is that you should go for it and do what your heart tells you!

  12. Awww lovely article! I definitely prefer blogging too because I find it an easier tool to use to create my little magical pink world 😀 maybe one day I will try vlogging, but blogging is definitely my favourite! xx

  13. I totally believe blogging isn’t over yet. What I think really singles out blogging from vlogging is that sometimes I just want to be in peace and read and take something at my own pace, with vlogging I might not want to sit through a 20 minute video where I can’t really stop and come back to later unlike reading! The two are so different but its not over for us just yet! I also get the mind fog on camera and almost forget completely how to speak english haha!

    1. I agree and there are places you don’t really want to have to listen to things as well I think. x

  14. It is interesting how B and V can change the way we blog? For me, I love B because it’s easy for me and it keeps me engaged. Whereas I have to start on V and I’ve been waiting for the right moment.

  15. I like blogging too and at the moment I too prefer blogging to vlogging. I am not confident enough to appear on video x

  16. It’s interesting, I’m been hearing that for so long now. But honestly, I think it’s something the vloggers talk about more than anything else!

  17. Great post Sarah! I rarely have an uncluttered enough background to vlog. I think it’s much easier to get my point across on video, but I like writing. Its what I’ve been doing in one way or another since I was a 5 year old with a pen. Blogging has changed a lot, but I’m not ready to let go of it yet. xx

    1. It has definitely changed so much hasn’t it – I won’t be letting go anytime soon either 😉

  18. I’m rubbish communicating through speech – so I do much better through writing. I have a slight speech impediment which come through when I speak so vlogging is out of the question for me. xx

  19. I love looking in on blogs, you learn some useful tips and find real life situations simular to you on, so hope everyone continues

  20. I love blogging but I know vlogging isn’t for me. I don’t feel confident in front of the camera and I feel I communicate better through the written than spoken word x

  21. Personally I love creating live-video content, but as you say, there is space for everyone in the blogging world.

  22. I love blogging and enjoying vlogging from time to time too. Confidence and finding time is a problem for me though

  23. I think it’s lovely to take the afternoon on a Sunday and just read blog posts with a big cup of tea… or two… or three.
Videos don’t have the same appeal.

  24. Vlogging isn’t for anyone – I don’t feel comfortable being on camera, I don’t really even like taking selfies lol x

  25. A really honest and open piece, thank you for sharing your personal story. I will not be doing vloging too, I will be sticking to blogging 🙂 x

  26. blogging or vloging it makes no difference as long as you enjoy what you do. Some people are better at one than another there is no right or wrong.

  27. I’m totally with you on the vlogging thing. I can’t do it for medical reasons, self esteem issues and I have a toddler running around that, well, due to noise it will never happen. I don’t see making a video with a children running and / or screaming in the background. I just can’t see it. I do videos when it comes to having a sponsored post or review to do with him. That is about it. Otherwise, I don’t see it happening.

Oh, my medications have caused the same issues. I had to change doctors and still losing some here and there. The doctor I go to now, changed my meds because they were not helping me or they caused worse conditions. The same “fog” came and he realized I am Bipolar 2. There are 2 different types. I am 2, which means I have mood swings, but not violent. I also have issues that I thought was anxiety, depression and other things. It all lead to the Bipolar disorder. That includes the sleep issues.

I had to go through over 12 doctors before I got one that knew exactly what my issues have been all of these years. It’s been that way for over 25 years and they just recently (2 yrs ago) figured it out.

Try to look for a new way of bringing it up to your doctor. If he / she is one that will listen and not tell you that you are wrong, like most do, you might have an alternative. I’m on what is called Lamictal (not sure if that is spelled right or not). I ended up not having to take 8 medications a day, and now on 1 a day.

  28. i absolutely love blogging been doing it for a few year now but as a hobby not as living wage, its fun and gets you busy and talkig to so many interesting people

  29. I’m not one that ever feels comfortable enough to vlog either. I love watching some of them, but it’s not my jam. I’d rather write everything out. That’s better for me.

    1. It is interesting isn’t it how we all feel different things, for a while I felt like there was a lot of pressure to YT to these days if the mood takes me I might video something, but it is all about the writing.
