A Face for Blogging
There are a number of questions which keep popping up in the blogging world such as; is blogging over, should we all concentrate more on vlogging?
Of course, these questions got me thinking, could it be the end? Of course, the answer is yes one day the blogging world may come crashing down, but I personally don’t believe that will happen anytime soon. Yes, it is an ever-evolving world, it is certainly very different to how it was when I first stepped foot into over 6 years ago, but that isn’t a bad thing. It has allowed both bloggers and the companies who look to work with them to expand and change the ways in which they interact with each other, bringing readers a much smoother and more honest experience.
For companies, bloggers as micro influencers offer a great stage to bring products and services to their smaller, yet very often engaged audience, there are many bloggers out there who have an audience that returns with every post to see what has been happening in their world.
Of course, many people blog and vlog very successfully together and while I have tried making the odd video and probably will carry on doing so from time to time, blogging is most definitely my passion.
After all, I am not that confident in how I look, my health issues mean I was never slim thanks to the medication I was on, but add on top going from active to having mobility issues I, of course, put on extra weight which makes me very self-conscious.
I also stutter when I get flustered and brain fog kicks in, with words going straight out of my head, it’s a bit of an ongoing joke between Ash and I some of the things I can come out with when I forget a simple word and thingy, whatsit and hoohaa are definitely words I use way too often.
So no for me vlogging is never going to be my forte, but I do believe both have their places and much like music and the old issue of radio vs the music video I do believe over time they will find the perfect way to exist in harmony.
What are your thoughts on blogging and vlogging?

P.S. Bex and I have set up a Facebook group for all things bargains, competitions and just for a general chin wag – please do come and join us in Futures & LIABD Lifestyle Community.

I think it really depends on the skills that you have, there are people who are better at writing than sitting in front of the camera. Vlogging isn’t killing blogging, it’s just that bloggers/vloggers have chosen a platform that they’re more comfy in.
I totally agree and that’s the main point I was hoping to get across with this post 🙂
Its all about the content and the passion. Its not about how you look… look in tv, there are a lot of faces that are horribly ugly and I think you are not even close to that. I hope you dont get me wrong… All I want to say is that you should go for it and do what your heart tells you!
Aww thank you so much, your comment made me smile 🙂
Awww lovely article! I definitely prefer blogging too because I find it an easier tool to use to create my little magical pink world 😀 maybe one day I will try vlogging, but blogging is definitely my favourite! xx

Thank you so much <3 I am so pleased it has resonated with others as well. x
I totally believe blogging isn’t over yet. What I think really singles out blogging from vlogging is that sometimes I just want to be in peace and read and take something at my own pace, with vlogging I might not want to sit through a 20 minute video where I can’t really stop and come back to later unlike reading! The two are so different but its not over for us just yet! I also get the mind fog on camera and almost forget completely how to speak english haha!
I agree and there are places you don’t really want to have to listen to things as well I think. x
It is interesting how B and V can change the way we blog? For me, I love B because it’s easy for me and it keeps me engaged. Whereas I have to start on V and I’ve been waiting for the right moment.
It really is, I can’t imagine ever vlogging like I do blogging at all.
I’m too nervous on camera to vlog so blogging is perfect for me – im better behind the lens
I like blogging too and at the moment I too prefer blogging to vlogging. I am not confident enough to appear on video x
It’s interesting, I’m been hearing that for so long now. But honestly, I think it’s something the vloggers talk about more than anything else!
Great post Sarah! I rarely have an uncluttered enough background to vlog. I think it’s much easier to get my point across on video, but I like writing. Its what I’ve been doing in one way or another since I was a 5 year old with a pen. Blogging has changed a lot, but I’m not ready to let go of it yet. xx
It has definitely changed so much hasn’t it – I won’t be letting go anytime soon either 😉
I’m rubbish communicating through speech – so I do much better through writing. I have a slight speech impediment which come through when I speak so vlogging is out of the question for me. xx
I stutter these days and trip over words or forget them completely it’s so hard.
I love looking in on blogs, you learn some useful tips and find real life situations simular to you on, so hope everyone continues
Hi, well i can relate to this, my last couple of vlogs have been of my hands!
I love blogging but I know vlogging isn’t for me. I don’t feel confident in front of the camera and I feel I communicate better through the written than spoken word x
Personally I love creating live-video content, but as you say, there is space for everyone in the blogging world.
As long as you feel happy and comfortable, that’s all that matters 🙂
I love blogging and enjoying vlogging from time to time too. Confidence and finding time is a problem for me though
I love reading blogs one day I hope to have my own
I think it’s lovely to take the afternoon on a Sunday and just read blog posts with a big cup of tea… or two… or three.
Videos don’t have the same appeal.
Vlogging isn’t for anyone – I don’t feel comfortable being on camera, I don’t really even like taking selfies lol x
A really honest and open piece, thank you for sharing your personal story. I will not be doing vloging too, I will be sticking to blogging 🙂 x
Thank you so much 🙂 I am glad others agree it felt good to get it out 😉
blogging or vloging it makes no difference as long as you enjoy what you do. Some people are better at one than another there is no right or wrong.
I’m totally with you on the vlogging thing. I can’t do it for medical reasons, self esteem issues and I have a toddler running around that, well, due to noise it will never happen. I don’t see making a video with a children running and / or screaming in the background. I just can’t see it. I do videos when it comes to having a sponsored post or review to do with him. That is about it. Otherwise, I don’t see it happening.
Oh, my medications have caused the same issues. I had to change doctors and still losing some here and there. The doctor I go to now, changed my meds because they were not helping me or they caused worse conditions. The same “fog” came and he realized I am Bipolar 2. There are 2 different types. I am 2, which means I have mood swings, but not violent. I also have issues that I thought was anxiety, depression and other things. It all lead to the Bipolar disorder. That includes the sleep issues.
I had to go through over 12 doctors before I got one that knew exactly what my issues have been all of these years. It’s been that way for over 25 years and they just recently (2 yrs ago) figured it out.
Try to look for a new way of bringing it up to your doctor. If he / she is one that will listen and not tell you that you are wrong, like most do, you might have an alternative. I’m on what is called Lamictal (not sure if that is spelled right or not). I ended up not having to take 8 medications a day, and now on 1 a day.
i absolutely love blogging been doing it for a few year now but as a hobby not as living wage, its fun and gets you busy and talkig to so many interesting people
I’m not one that ever feels comfortable enough to vlog either. I love watching some of them, but it’s not my jam. I’d rather write everything out. That’s better for me.
It is interesting isn’t it how we all feel different things, for a while I felt like there was a lot of pressure to YT to these days if the mood takes me I might video something, but it is all about the writing.
It’s a great way to express yourself
I don’t have my own but I love reading others
You never know one day you might join us 😉
