The “Owch” of the Party Season
It has been a long time since I wore heels, one of the downsides (or perhaps plus sides) of not having the mobility I once had. However, one thing I have never forgotten is the relief of slipping off a pair of oh so amazing looking, but horribly uncomfortable shoes at the end of the night. As let’s admit it now, we have ALL been there.
Perhaps the only thing worse than a pair of uncomfortable shoes is when a pair of comfortable shoes, become uncomfortable. I remember once I was heading off to a gig and had on a pair of low heeled suede boots, they were so comfortable, until it started to rain and the suede shrank as tightly as it could around my poor toes. I remember walking back through the NEC without my shoes on that night and being so thankful I had a lift home, rather than having to get the train as I had on the way.
Of course this time of year is party season and with it comes, new shoes, painful feet and dancing all night long and to show just how a night out goes for most of us who dare to wear heels, the lovely people over at Daniel Footwear have put together this graphic, showing the stages of your feelings for your shoes over the course of the evening.
Now is there anyone who can’t relate to that? I think it must have happened to us all, at least once, over the years.
Do you have any shoe mishap stories to share, or have you managed to pull off the almost impossible and dance till dawn in your heels?

Flats all the way these days!
Hahhaha i honestly dont know how women survive heels, sure it accentuates things and as a guy i admire that but lol it’s crazy to walk around in those things. this is brilliant tips and i love that infographic.
I always used to wear high heels for parties, but now I tend to opt for ones with a lower heel (or even flats if I can get away with it lol). I’d choose comfort over glamour any day of the week! LOL

I can relate. I took my heels off at the end of a dance filled evening at an office party. Someone thought it would be funny to take my shoes. I had to leave in my bare feet. The shoes showed up a few days later in a brown bag in my office.
I can definitely relate to the infographic when I wear heels out! Great post 🙂
This happens to me all the time when I wear heels. It’s tough when you’re used to wearing flip flops throughout the year.
I have definitely had a couple shoe mishaps over the years. This is too funny because it is true!
I haven’t worn heels for very nearly 10 years now, the last time was New Years Eve 2006, and why do I remember it so well? I spend New Year’s Day having an operation to put my ankle back together! I don’t miss the ‘ouch’ at all!
I can relate myself to such incidents so many times and heels have become the ones that I used much in the past during college life. After becoming a mom it is all about using them for parties and not much. Comfy shoes have become part of my tradition these days!
It hasn’t happened to me at a party or out on the town, but I’ve had shoe mishaps in other settings that weren’t too nice. The worst is when the tip of a heel breaks, followed by something inside a shoe rubbing up against your toes.
It didn’t happen to me but my best friend was in drag and we went to a Christmas party and you know drag queen heels are extremely tall. Well, we were about to go in and he walked across a piece of wood which was wet and went flying over and unfortunately the force of the fall broke one of the heels. He limped the rest of the night. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen though x
I’m so relate, I love high heels but after an hour I don’t like the pain on my feet
This is why I don’t do heels! It is flats for me all the way! So much more comfortable!
I used to wear heels all of the time. These days give me some flats and I’m happy. 🙂 I don’t know when it changed but heels hurt my tootsies now. Old age problems. 🙂
Hahah this made me laugh because back in the day I used to take my heels off ALL the time when I was having a night out. One time I was walking around the races with no shoes on. Yep all class over here. I can’t even remember the last time I wore heels 🙁 #mumlife
Whenever I go to a party I wear my heels and bring a pair of flats. Once the night comes to an end my feet are super happy to see the flats!
This is 100% me, I love heels because I’m short and they look so chic. But I don’t wear them often and when I do, they huuuuuurt!
The older I get the more this happens to me. I’m actually falling out of love with my heels these days!
I can certainly relate to some of these. I always look at photos before I go to bed. I love the holidays and getting lots of great family/friends photos.
I see women in these towering heels all the time tottering up the road and just wander how they do it and at what point does it hurt!
