Dormeo Mattress Review: Memory Deluxe

Mattress buying can be so stressful. Do you want a soft one, or a firm one, do you want springs or memory foam? There are so many choices that it can be overwhelming. So to help you figure things out, I’ve put together this Dormeo mattress review.

In our home choosing a mattress was a nightmare. Ash wanted memory foam while I was a bit worried about it. I had heard they were notoriously hot and, while I have always been prone to overheating, with my fibromyalgia I would over heat and then keep going as my body is no long able to regulate its temperature at all. So the last time we bought one we compromised and went one of the hybrid mattresses. This mattress is half pocket sprung, half memory foam mattress.

However a little while back we were offered the chance to review a memory foam mattress and I almost instantly emailed back thank you but not for us. However I thought it best to have a chat with Ash and decide what to do between us and I admit it was him that spotted this little gem of a mattress we decided on.

I read some of the previous reviews of the mattress and we decided to wave goodbye to foam springs and go for it.

Dormeo Memory Deluxe

Dormeo offer foam based mattresses of Italian design and heritage with this particular deluxe version containing 4cm worth of memory foam split into two layers of foam. The first 2cm has been stitched directly into the cover, while the second 2cm rests below it – offering a deeper, plusher, softer mattress. These mattresses feature a sanitised, anti bacterial protection with anti dust mite technology. Other Dormeo mattresses contain 2cm of memory foam so this offers double that.

However what drew us to this high quality mattress in particular was the fact that it offered a cooler night’s sleep. It has a patented Ecocell foam core which can help reduce the build-up of heat and humidity that can often cause overheating during sleep which is something experienced by many people.

Of course the proof is in the trying. The mattress turned up while we were in the middle of the small bit of summer we had this year and I have to admit I was worried about trying it out during the warmest part of the year. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t remember over heating during those first few weeks and if I did, it definitely didn’t wake me up.

I have had a few nights since then where I have woken up due to overheating, but that is hardly surprising with how my body works. The fact that it has helped in any way at all when it comes to keeping me cooler has been a real bonus as I was just hoping it wouldn’t make things worse. I never dreamt it could actually make things better.

As for comfort, well,  you really haven’t slept in my mind now until you have tried a memory foam mattress. This one is a medium firm hardness which is both comfortable and supportive. I of course suffer with lots of aches and pains, but I have found that this mattress helps support and comfort every part of my body making for a more comfortable nights sleep and offering pressure relief.
