5 Ways to Make Your Home Move Less Stressful
Moving no matter when or why is pretty stressful and while don’t have a magic wand to make it completely stress-free for you.
We would first suggest that you use a moving house checklist and cost out each stage. You can use comparison websites to compare costs for surveying, conveyancing, house insurance and of course removals.
The focus should be getting a fixed fee quote so that you know where you stand. Some websites ask for your personal details upfront before you can see pricing and others such as the Homebuyer Conveyancing website let you browse without the need for personal details. You can get a sale and purchase Solicitor local to you in just a few steps.
I can at least try and give you some pointers of ways to at least try and take away some of that away, for you and all your family when it comes around to moving day.

Hire Removal People You Can Trust
No matter the type of move you are making, there is a removal firm for you. From a small personal firm to those who run around the country. There are even those whos pack and move you!
However, you are going to want to check reviews and look to commission someone you can trust to move your personal possessions. After all, they are being put in charge of all your personal belongings.
These days you can even hire office removals who specialise in moving your workspace from one place to another.
Pack an Overnight Bag
You never know how the day is going to go, so making sure you are ready to live out of a bag for a night or two is a must.
Keep your overnight bag away from all the other items on the big day and pack in it everything you will need for a night away from your home comforts.
Including a clothing change, wash gear, ID, medications and toiletries.

Enlist People to Help
If you can then getting your friends and family to help with the move, as much as possible can really help make things easier.
I know there have been times in the past when I have been ready to throw in the towel with packing or unpacking and Ash has arrived home and suddenly everything feels so much easier to deal with.
Get Some Sleep
You know that point when you feel like it’s all too much; your feeling cranky and tried and your bed is calling?
Listen to your head and go and have a sleep. Silly mistakes happen when you are tired and it is more important to look after your mental and physical health than to finish packing just one more box.
After all, if it happens to be delicate and your sleepy brain doesn’t pack everything well, you’re going to regret it, once it comes to unpacking time.

Be Organised
When you are packing make sure you look to label the boxes.
These labels should not only include what’s in them, for your own ease of unpacking. But the rooms they should be placed in by the removal men.
This will help make everything so much simpler in your new home when unpacking time comes around.

Stressful perhaps, but certainly exciting.
I.m now helping my parents move and i have to say its been quite stressful up to now, they are downsizing, so alot of stuff has to go, some fab tips here, thanks for sharing
These are great tips, moving is so much hard work, we’ve moved 4 times in the past year and hopefully in April we will be moving for the final time
Oh wow I hope you manage to get settled down this and don’t have to move again.
Hiring movers that you can trust is so important. At the end of the day you’ve worked so hard for your posessions, you want to make sure that they remain in tact! xxx
It really is – they are going to have so many different precious things to look after so you have to know you can trust them.
Packing an overnight bag is such a good tip, you never know how much you need until you do at that moment.
100% you never know if you will make it ready to go on the same day, do you.
Great tips, I always know where the kettle, mugs and tea bags are when we have moved
They are most definitely a must find aren’t they?
Some really great hints and tips here Sarah that I have definitely used in the past while moving, I would add to the overnight bag, the makings for a brew including the kettle lol.
Oh totally you need to make sure you have something like that on hand.
I guess it depends on how big your household is. For me, I just threw everything into my car and drove off. However, for families your tips are a must have.
Oh gosh that would be nice to be able to just pack things into a car and go at times I think.
Moving house is one of my least favourite things in the world. I find it so stressful, it takes me ages to get sorted and update my address etc.
It is horrid isn’t it – it’s so so stressful, I’m hoping we don’t have to move again for a while at least.
Anything that makes moving home less stressful is a win for me. I can remember moving from our third floor flat and thanking our lucky stars that we had opted to hire a removal company.
They can make such a difference to have around to lend a hand can’t they?
These are great tips! I am moving at the end of February and I am already dreading all the packing and sorting. Plus, moving the cat, which is a job on its own, as he is a rescued attached to the house who screams for the entire duration of an outdoors trip.
Oh gosh good luck with your move – I really hope it goes well for you.
Some great idea you have here . Moving can be an absolute nightmare . Definitely rally round all the help you can get for sure
It is such a hard thing to do isn’t it – I hope I don’t have to move again for a while for sure.
Great tips here. I think many of these could be implemented for us right now as we are having some renovations done and I’m struggling mentally to deal with the chaos.
Thank you for the advice x
Oh gosh yeah anything like that happening around the home can be horrid – it just sends everything upside doesn’t it?
