  2. I’m a huge fan of simple fixes like you mentioned. Adding better handles goes a long way, or even deciding to paint your cabinets can make a huge difference if you don’t want to make a huge investment in remodeling.

    1. Most definitely there is little things you can do which obviously you can always call for help with too!

  3. I just moved in to my new house so I won’t be changing anything any time soon. But I do agree with the paint. That is something that could really change up a space. Depending on the mood that you’re aiming for You could easily have a cheery kitchen with a lighter paint. 🙂

  4. These tips are all really helpful, as I’m actually in the process of renovating my kitchen! I bought a “doer upper” house in December last year, and not a great deal has been done yet – but I am hoping to make more progress soon! x

  5. I cannot wait to change up my kitchen! It’s definitely outdated and could use new cabinets and counter tops! We want to re-do everything! In the meantime I have been switching out decor and accessories!

  7. Love this! I really want to update my kitchen, but there’s only so much you can do when you’re renting. I desperately need a dishwasher though, I’ve literally been dreaming about it! Haha

    1. It’s hard when you rent isn’t it – but there are a few things you can play around with thankfully.

    1. Therre are some awful paints people choose aren’t there! It is amazing what a difference changing that can make.

  9. There are so many great ways to change things up to create different moods and often very cheaply. I love changing my kitchen up for different seasons by adding autumnal vibes eg little pumpkins etc. I also love that by changing a colour scheme you can change the look as well x

    1. It is amazing the difference, you can only try and see what happens, you never know you might have a hidden painting talent.

  13. If I had my own kitchen, I’d go full on accessories! Plants, decors, candles and others! But mainly plants I guess!

    1. Comfy and cosy is great for a kitchen I think sometimes so much time is spent in there you want it to be yours.

  17. I agree with all of these but especially with number 5….a friend of mine recently changed the handles on all of her kitchen cabinets and drawers and it completely changed the whole look of her kitchen! Genius!!

    1. It is amazing isn’t it we did it in the last place and just changing them made a huge amount of difference.

  18. Small things really do make a huge difference in the kitchen. I painted ours in a different color and it looks so much more open now.

    1. Honestly we had a new one put in last year and it drove me insane everything in the bungalow was covered in yuck!

  19. While counters can be expensive, I like that these ideas are all more economical, because kitchens can be so expensive! I really want to paint my kitchen and redo some of the decor.

    1. They can cost a lot can’t they which is a shame but if you don’t want a full makeover well worth looking into.

    1. Small kitchens can be a pain – I’ve had some tiny ones in my time, but the changes they made in this one make me realise it’s about utalising the space the best you can.

    1. It is hard when you have a kitchen like that, I’ve had my fair share of small kitchens, one I couldn’t even fit a freezer (or fridge freezer in).

  23. What a great timing! We are doing kitchen renovation! Kitchen is my favorite part of the house and I want it bright and clean looking. I guess a clean looking paint will do the trick

  24. I have just had a new kitchen installed by Wren……. what a nightmare!!!
    I would not recommend using these at all!!!
    I should have used these tips instead.

  25. Oh, this makes me want to cry – we were a military family, but always ended up with a house that needed flipping. The last house we flipped was my favorite hands-down, because we tore out the entire kitchen, and I hand-picked EVERYTHING in it – it was organized for ME, because I loved cooking and baking, and made the best possible use of space. Boy do I miss my spice drawers next to the stove! Great tips!

  26. i painted my kitchen this summer, all i did was give it a fresher white color, but it made such a huge difference. can’t wait to find time to update the cabinets too!

  27. I think I want to pain my cabinets, but I have so many it would take forever and a half. I would love to see images of the updates you guys did.

    1. Oh no What a nightmare, I hope you perhaps manage it at some point.

      Do you know I don’t think I took pictures of the before, I shared some of the progress on Facebook I’ll have to try and find them again!

  28. Everything you mentioned here is exactly what I would like to do in my kitchen. I would like to update it so that we can enjoy our own personality in the kitchen. I cannot wait to tile in our kitchen.

  29. These are great suggestions. I hired contractors to remodel my kitchen two years ago and still have issues regarding what to do with the walls. I’ve looked for wall art but ended up putting one of my own paintings on the wall and it doesn’t look too bad.

  30. You chose some beautiful kitchens to highlight. I would love to do the carerra marble on my counters but mine are perfectly functional so I won’t add the expense to my household.

    1. It is hard when you don’t really need it isn’t it – ours needed rewiring so to make that happen it seemed the easiest way, mind you I think the whole place could do with it in all honesty.

  31. I need to change up my kitchen. It’s kind of dark and blah right now. We do want to re-do the flooring and cabinets at some point. We just need to win the lottery.

  32. It is amazing what just a little paint can do to really change a kitchen! We plan on redoing ours soon and paint and new cabinets will be the first things on the list to change!

  33. I am all about changing up the accessories. It’s an easy way to really change the look of the room and if you look hard, you can usually get them pretty cheap.
