Ask Questions
Think about how you end a post if you ask your readers a question they are more likely to think up a response to you. After all, if you end with a blunt finishing line it can often seem like there is nothing more to add, while a question can easily help get the conversation flowing.
Set up a Quiz
If you are looking for feedback or just wondering if your blog has got people interested. A quiz could offer you the answer. This user-friendly quiz maker can help you learn more about the people who are frequenting your website, allowing you to tailor content better to their needs and in turn, offering more of a conversation starter.
Utilise Social Media
A high proportion of us frequent social media multiple times a day and if we see something pop up on our timeline we think friends would be interested in we share it. I’ve often heard blog readers say they drop a comment on the social media share of a post rather than on the post itself, as it’s just their way of connecting with people. So when someone tweets you, tweet them back!
Make Your Blog User-Friendly

Write Good Content
This one is probably obvious to most, but it surprises me the number of bloggers who still aren’t producing good content. By that I mean people still don’t do simple checks on spelling and grammar (and before anyone starts with but I’m not very good, hey neither am I! I’m dyslexic). I ask family and friends to check things for silly (and not so silly) mistakes before I hit publish. As I’m very aware that if the first sentence of any post reads badly, no one is going to read on.

Yes to all of these. Making your blog user friendly is the best way to go. You want your readers to find what they are looking for and comment/engage with ease.
These are great tips. I go through phases of putting a question at the end to not and actually, they are worthwhile and something I myself like as a reader. I think social media can be a difficult one. Yes I’m all for blog promotion etc but sometimes it can definitely be overdone and you lose sight of the person behind the blog if that makes sense? It’s definitely a hard balance to get right, I still don’t think I’ve mastered it.
I totally agree – I should learn to use twitter more to just talk but sometimes I feel so tired by the time I’ve done everything else I just can’t.

I have heard setting up a quiz really helps with getting readers to connect with you on your blog. But I just don’t know what kind of quiz I would set up and how I would use it for making changes. This post does have me thinking about it though.

These are great tips! I did quite a few avenues to get more people visit and interact before but now I get tired of maintaining it. I just rely on my Facebook page shares.
It is hard isn’t it – especially as the algorithm keeps changing.
I had to go back in this post and check what you recommended for making a quiz to learn more about what your readers are up to. Also I guess I need to engage more on my social media accounts.

Having a user friendly blog is a key thing; I read a lot of different blogs, but there are some that are very difficult to read. Poor choice of font, messy layout, photos that are too big, and then the dreaded in your face thing with pop ups and demands. Some of which are perfectly innocent, but if they keep coming at you, it can be most annoying.
Some helpful advice Sarah, little things that can make a big difference.
Pop ups are the bane of my life, I mean there are so many you just can’t find how to take down easily and it just makes me click off and never come back.

I am glad people think they are useful the question thing is so good but some people just don’t think about.
I find that asking questions and having polls is one of the best way to boost engagement. Quality content is most important, however. Because if you aren’t writing something interesting, no one will bother with it.
Quality content is a must, you can have a great title but if you don’t get that content right people will click away.
One of my main tips is to be consistent- like know what you stand for and who you write for. I also agree with you about the write good content point! Like it amazes me how many bloggers don’t focus on content and just put something out there. Great post and some really good advice in here!
I am glad you like it. It really is a big thing, to make sure you are consistent, I don’t have a niche and I do jump between topics often but I hope I am consistent in other ways.

Maybe I’ll add some quizzes. I think people are so busy in life….its hard for them to stop and comment. They read and leave. But I’d definitely like more engagement.

I have gotten a lot of interaction on my blog from the beginning. I love talking to people, so I always respond to people’s comments and then I go back to their blogs and check out what they’re up to and comment <3 I also ask lots of questions at the end of each blog post because as I said, I love talking to people, thus I love conversation!

This is definitely an area I need to work on, but I always feel like because I’m just giving an account of my experience, rather than reviewing or offering tips, it’s not relevant. I do get a handful of likes on social media. Definitely out of my comfort zone but I will have a rethink. Very useful. Thank you ??

I agree that a simple comment form is enough. I usually stay away from blogs that ask me to login or create account in order to comment. I understand they are trying to reduce spam, but there are great plugins that do just that.
Most definitely I recently had to change over to jetpack comments and I was a bit loathed to do it as I loved the simplicity of just having a name / email / url but with it showing it other users details I had to make the change, but I made sure to keep the guest option open at least.

Choosing the right topic for your target audience will definitely urge them to comment. I think these are good suggestions as well. Asking questions is really going to help.
Most definitely if you can niche yourself (something I have never managed) and get to know your audience so well you can go so far.
