5 Exciting Activities to Enjoy This Summer in the UK

Summer is finally here and now is a perfect time to make the most of the sunny days and warm evenings. No matter if you are a thrill-seeker or a culture enthusiast, there is something for everyone to enjoy within the UK.
Today I look at just 5 places you might like to explore this summer:
Explore the Stunning Coastlines
We are so lucky in the UK to have some beautiful coastlines that can take your breath away when you stop for a moment and take in the view. The hard part is working out just where you want to go.
From the charming fishing villages and surf havens in Cornwall, the beautiful Jurassic Coast in Devan, the fun of Blackpool and the rugged coastline of Scotland there is a seaside adventure waiting for you.
Attend a Music Festival
Summer in the UK is synonymous with music festivals. While many of the big ones might be behind us such as Glastonbury and Download, there is still more to come!
For those who love heavy metal Bloodstock is a must, while for families Camp Bestival is well worth checking out and Leeds and Reading are all still to come in August just to name a few.
Visit Historic Castles and Gardens
Step back in time by visiting some of the UK’s most iconic castles and gardens. Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, is a must-see this incredible castle was founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century and has since been the home of 40 monarchs.
For garden enthusiasts, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and the Eden Project in Cornwall offer an incredible variety of plants and stunning landscapes.
Other locations such as Warwick Castle offer incredible family days out and it is worth keeping an out for events they have on such as jousting and birds of prey.
Enjoy Outdoor Theatre and Cinema
Experience the magic of outdoor theatre and cinema under the stars. Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in London offers a unique theatre experience in a beautiful setting and at the moment is showing Fiddler on the Roof.
For film buffs, many cities host outdoor cinema events during the summer, so it is worth keeping an eye out for advertising near you! I personally found that the Shugborough Estate is due to show a range of movies in September from Dirty Dancing to Sing!
Go Hiking in the National Parks
The UK’s 15 national parks are perfect for a summer hiking adventure. The Lake District offers dramatic scenery and challenging hikes for experienced walkers. Or if you prefer something less strenuous, the Peak District has plenty of gentle trails with stunning views.
For a truly unique experience, hike up Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, located in the Scottish Highlands. While you can’t forget Pen y Fan in Wales which is suitable for children too.

I never went to UK… Guess there’s some very nice places to see.
Definitely worth coming over here and having an explore, we have some amazing locations.
Some really great ideas here, always make the most of the warm weather before it start to get cold again.
I have to admit I like the autumn and spring best for weather, I don’t do too hot or cold.

We looked at a few of the festivals this summer and they seem to all be really expensive, especially if there are 4 of you to pay for!
That’s such a shame – you would hope at least some would be affordable for a family.
We always go out of season as well – makes things a lot easier to do.

I love visiting castles, stately houses etc. We are lucky to have so many in the UK.
There’s something amazing about seeing an old castle or house isn’t there? All the history behind them.
I like visiting the gardens of a country house such as Chatsworth near me
The gardens of these old country houses are incredible aren’t they?
I am lucky that where I live in Pembrokeshire we have several castles and a stunning coastline with lovely beaches. The only thing we lack is continuous fine weather. We get a lot of rain!
It is amazing all the locations there are, I really need to try and look into going to some different places.
