Yardley – Royal Diamond: Review

In celebration of the Jubilee (yes I know it’s over now but no need to stop celebrating all things British right?). Yardley brought out the new Royal Diamond Fragrance.

I admit – I always think of Yardley being something an older lady uses (as I am sure many of us do). So I was really looking forward to seeing what I thought of this.

Yardley goes back to the mid-seventh century in London where sadly most of its first incarnation was lost along with most of London in the great fire of 1666. It was a century later in 1770, that the Cleaver Family established Yardley London as we know them today.

Through astute business and convenient marriage, the Yardley family managed to once again become involved in the operation. As such by the early 1800s it was back in the family’s hands.

In the years that followed the business thrived.

In the 1880s the expansion to the USA followed with a range of English Lavender Soaps. The next Century was filled with expansion and a succession of Royal Warrants. Now a household name, Yardley still embraces its history with pride.

Royal Diamond is hailed as a Celebration of British Elegance.

Developed by esteemed perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou who embraced the unique opportunity to work with such an established British brand and create something completely new for them.

With top notes of; Pear, Bergamot and Honey. Complemented by middle notes of Rose, Peony and Lily of the Valley. Then finished off with base notes of Cedar Wood, Sandalwood and Vanilla.

This floral fragrance is representative of sheer romance and femininity. If anyone was to spray a spritz on me I wouldn’t ever have put Yardley and this fragrance together, However, maybe that is just down to my naivety of the brand more than anything.

I really liked this fragrance, The fact it’s presented in a vintage style flacon yet smelling so fresh and ‘now’ really makes a great contrast, which I would definitely proud to show off. Add that to the complements I have had while wearing it I’m sure many of my friends would as well.
