The pads themselves utilise a mix of recycled plastic for the waterproof membrane and are constructed from natural bamboo charcoal. Meaning it is free from synthetic additives and nasty chemicals.

How to Care for Your Reusable Pads

One thing that has always worried me about reusable pads is how do you look after them? Well, the answer is actually pretty simple.

Trade to Aid suggests:

• Soak your used pad in cold water for around 30 minutes, this should prevent staining. You could perhaps add a drop of tea-tree oil or a small amount of hydrogen peroxide.
• Wash as normal on a 40° cycle, do not use any fabric softeners as this could affect the absorbance of the pads. They also suggest not washing at higher temperatures as this could lead any blood stains to set.
• Air dry by hanging on the line, or in a bright sunny window. If the weather is bad then a radiator also works.

I have to admit that is a lot more simple than I had imagined!
