Top Tips for Taking Care of Your Skin When the Weather Changes
AD
As the seasons shift, so too does the way our skin behaves. Whether you’re moving from the warmth of summer to the chill of autumn, or braving the dry, frosty air of winter, it’s important to adjust your skincare routine accordingly.
To help you with this change I decided to put together some handy tips to help your skin stay healthy and radiant, no matter what the weather throws your way.
Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise!

Changing temperatures often means that your skin can lose moisture more quickly. Investing in a rich, hydrating moisturiser is crucial to keeping dryness at bay.
Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, or ceramides, which help your skin retain moisture and create a protective barrier.
Don’t be afraid to take the leap to a richer cream as it could be just what your skin is craving.
Gentle Cleansing is the Key
The cleanser you use can make a significant difference in how your skin responds to seasonal shifts. During colder months it is best to look for a gentle, nourishing cleanser which works to avoid stripping away the skin’s natural oils.
For instance, a Face Cleanser from Caudalie is a wonderful option here. Its creamy texture works to cleanse the skin without causing irritation or dryness, and it’s packed with antioxidants that help soothe and protect your skin from environmental stressors.
Their Vinoclean range is a favourite of mine and offers a gentle foaming cleanser which is perfect for a soft, caring yet cleansing experience.
Don’t Ditch the SPF
You might think because the summer is long behind us, it is time to stop the sunscreen however stop. Please don’t. The UV rays which damage our skin, are present year-round, and yes they can damage even on cloudy and cold days.
Incorporate an SPF of at least 30 into your daily routine to keep your skin protected from harmful rays and prevent premature ageing.
Exfoliate – But Be Careful

Exfoliating your skin helps to remove dead skin cells and improves product absorption. However, be mindful not to overdo it, especially in cooler weather when your skin might be more sensitive.
Look to buy a gentle exfoliant, and also limit use to once or twice a week to avoid irritation.
Targeted Treatments for Dry Areas
If certain areas of your skin, like your lips or cheeks, become particularly dry or irritated during weather changes, use targeted treatments like lip balms or heavier moisturisers in those spots.
Look for products rich in nourishing ingredients like shea butter or lanolin to repair and soothe and remember consistency is key!
Hydration from the Inside Out

Hydration also comes from the inside and as the temperature changes it can be easy to forget about drinking water and switch to hot drinks all day long.
Herbal teas or infused water can be a great way to boost your intake and keep your skin looking plump and radiant.
Hopefully, these ideas might help you take care of your skin as the weather changes, after all if you are anything like me it might just be easy to carry on with the same routine all year around, and forget our skin needs something more across the colder months.
