These are a few of Sal’s Favourite Things
So I’ve been told off a little recently by Sally, as apparently she is not appearing on the blog as much as she should be (her paws must have been working hard on the iPad again naughty doggy!), anyway I promised her a post all of her own, to share with you some of her favourite things in the Sally world.
Blankets.
Honestly I’m sure Sally’s brain runs in circles going ‘blankets. blankets. blankets. blankets’ while you straighten them after she has shuffled them all around in circles and then refuses to sit on them again as they are all messed up. She has one which I gave her when she first came home, it’s half fallen apart, has a hole right in the middle and one day when I pop it in the washing machine it isn’t going to come back out – but she loves it and if you try and take it away from her she hangs onto the other end.
Brushes.
Salmonster loves a good brush, I’ve told the story many times of how, when I first got Sal I wasn’t sure what to do, I was scared, she wasn’t meant to be mine and I wasn’t meant to be looking after her and while she loved me from the get go, I only wish I could say the same in return about her. To get myself more used to her I went through many ideas and the one that worked best was brushing her, as she snuggles up to me and while these days our relationship is a lot better, she still loves a good old bush and with the amount of fur she loses – she needs them to.
Toys.
Again toys go back to when I first got her – she didn’t know how to play – in fact they were a completely alien concept to her and it took me a while to teach her playing was fun, I resorted to wrapping up cheese in a hanky and hurling it around the lounge, which progressed onto cheese rubbed onto toys, at which point we learnt she was afraid of squeaky toys and would run away and then look from afar at anything that dared make such a noise at her. These days she is well over her fear of the squeak and more often than not thinks the louder the better and you know what – I don’t mind at all, I just love to see her play.
Water.
Of course after a day of scratching at blankets, being brushed and playing with toys every dog needs their water bowl and I love this one personally, as it filters the water as it flows through the bowl, meaning I know she being well looked after.

I love the look of that water bowl but when I put fresh down for Stella she goes outside to drink out of a puddle & ignores the fresh for hours. The only time she’ll drink fresh clean water is if it’s just too hot to do any different!
Lizzie our rescue dog was the other way with toys- she couldn’t let us stroke her to start with without putting her face further and further down to avoid contact. she couldn’t have her neck or ears touched which were scarred with what looked like rope burns . she does fetch a ball though almost like an obsession, she has to bring it back again and again. She always has to eat grass around where the ball lands everytime . its a strange thing . She has to have a ball thrown towards her bowl for her to eat her dinner one mouth full each time the ball is thrown . I would love to know what she is associating this with . I know she had a bad life due to the signs of her being bred and bred from and the scars she holds, but we love her and she loves us. She is a perfect dog with children and a very important part of our family .Her favourite toy is a scruffy little rabbit that goes everywhere with her .

We had a Siamese, Metoo, who used to chew ruddy great holes in anything woolen/acrylic. Whether he was cleaning his teeth & gums or clearing out his insides we never knew & the vet was flummoxed. He was named after a little boy in one of my classes who always put his hand up & called out “and me too” if I asked a question. And the sound of the chewing was one of those that sets your nerves on edge like fingernails on a blackboard. Lovely animal, very protective of ‘his’ family, and VERY vocal – much loved & much missed.
Sal is so cute and a very lucky dog 🙂 I have a cheeky cat who is a little clown ha ha.

Aww she is cute. My dog Storm loves his basket , that’s his space when he wants some peace from the kids. His kong he loves carrying it round the house.
Aww how lovely. We were just talking pets yesterday. I honestly don’t know how to look after them and concerned I wouldn’t be able to (with already enough to do with 4 kids).

I can’t blame Sally for wanting to be on your blog more, she’s gorgeous! My boys love food the most. Above everything else…wait, no… probably their sled. They’re huskies so they live for freedom!
