The perfect home movie night
Neither myself or Ash are big when it comes to going out, don’t get me wrong – we love going out for the odd meal, but something like a club, well, it just isn’t really for us. Instead we are homebodies, most often content with each other’s company, a good film and perhaps a take-out or a home cooked pizza.
We try and make sure we snuggle down at least once a week and catch a film, or watch a favourite TV programme, otherwise I can end up carrying on working away on the laptop, well after he has been and come back from work.
People often look at me strangely when I say would sometimes rather wait for a film to come out on blu-ray, (unless I really cannot wait to see it), than see it at the cinema, but I have my reasons; I mean there’s the whole you have to sit from beginning to end without having a toilet break as you can’t press pause issue, then the fact often the seats are so uncomfortable you get really well acquainted with having a numb bottom. That’s without starting on having to watch adverts and the person sitting next to you who really loves crunching those crisps as loudly as possible.
Apart from comfort issues, there is the fact that watching TV at home, can be very much like a cinema, these days TVs offer a much higher quality of picture, than they did only a number of years ago, add that to the fact surround sound is available for your living room and home theatre systems are so easily come by – you may as well make a cinema of your own front room and enjoy the comfort to be able to lounge and pause at your leisure.
What about you, have you made the leap from cinema to home?

We often have movie nights – I like the cinema but I do like being able to slob and to pause for a kettle run now and then!
Movie nights at home are the inspiration behind our gift boxes and we have 10% off first orders at the moment using code FIRSTORDER10.
I like doing both, going to the pictures to see a great film on the bi screen. But it is also nice if you have had a hard day & all you want to do is lounge about in your pjs infront of your tv & watch a film.
Staying in is always more fun! The only thing you need to do to get ready is get your PJs and onesies on
Family movie nights or at home date nights are one of our favorite ways to unwind after a busy week!
while I do enjoy going to out the movie, I see some perks in staying home and watching a movie via DVD or streaming. Sometimes it’s nice to stay in.
My husband and I are like this. We love watching movies at home and have affectionately dubbed every Friday night as “Movie Night”. It’s just better to watch them at home for the reasons you’ve listed and so many more. 😉
I love having movie nights at home. It’s nice to be able to just chill in your pjs and have a good movie night.
I love going to the movies with hubby but sometimes we enjoy a movie we got from Netflix and just sit down and relax and watch it complete with popcorn.
I am a bit of a homebody as well. I do however like going out occasionally and getting my dance on…lol. But when I do stay in I love to curl up and watch some netflix.
We started doing the night in because it was cheaper. Also, I have issue with going to the theater and paying money when people around us just sit and talk. I am one who speaks out and embarrasses those people. Its so annoying.
We have family movie nights every Friday. Even though we like to go out to see movies in the theater, some movies are just not worth it and we wait until they are on Blue-Ray to watch.
We’re watching Americas funniest home videos while the kids are out playing… we should just watch a movie and call it a “date” right?
I’m pretty much a homebody too. I love curling up on the couch and watching movies!
I do love going to a movie a couple times of year – usually during the holidays. It just makes it kind of special…but for the most part, I am just like you. Would much rather watch at home and my husband makes sure we have all the latest equipment to do so.
We watch a lot of movies at our house! Rarely do we go out to the cinema.
I love watching movies at home with my husband when we both have time. It’s a perfect way to unwind and spend some special time together.
We like to go out, but we like to stay in just as much. Same with movies, we like them out but we like them just as much in. 🙂
We don’t watch many movies at home. I don’t watch movies at the cinema either though so there is that! ha! I would rather be home and comfortable though if I was going to watch a movie.
I definitely prefer watching movies at home to seeing them in theatre. The ability to pause the movie if I need to grab a drink or run to the bathroom is really great. Plus my husband works weird hours so it’s easier for us to watch movies together if we wait for them to be viewable at home.
We watch a lot of Netflix at home. Gotta love family date nights! 🙂
I have really come to love watching movies at home too. It’s so relaxing, you have potty breaks like you said, and you can easily get up for a snack or a drink.
I hate going to the movies! It is so uncomfortable and I can’t pause it when I have to get a drink or go potty! Snuggling on the couch is much better!
I’m a homebody too, though I do enjoy going out on occasion I’d rather be comfortable at home.
I am at home all day with two kids and my hubby since he works from home, so a night in is not fun to me if I have a chance to go out. That being said, we do have a home cinema with a 3D Tv so we love to wait for the 3D movies to come out on blueray instead of watching them in theaters
i love watching stuff at home, but i still prefer to go to the cinema to watch movies
My hubs & I very rarely get to go out, so we do movie nights in a lot. It’s even better when we manage to get the kids to go to bed early & have takeout. Something about eating food with chopsticks while you sit on your couch. LOL
Definitely my favorite thing to do with my husband on our night off is stay at home, watch a movie and order in. Luckily he is exactly like me and doesnt like to go out either. If we do go out it’s only to friends houses or maybe a nice restaurant. I haven’t been to the movies in years, ever since we’ve invested in a a good tv and speakers we dont feel the need to.
My husband has a membership to a local film club, so he can see movies at a discounted rate throughout the year. He often goes by himself if it’s a movie I’m not interested. I rarely see movies at the theater. I often wait to see them on blu-ray.
Hubby and I are like you we prefer to stay in. I love snuggle down with hubby and son to watch a movie or tv show. We do go out occasionally and some movies are great on big screen but snuggling at home is good to.
You and I would get along so well together LOL Anymore, we just stream movies at home on our Roku via Netflix or Amazon. It’s much more peaceful for us – we go non-stop, so we enjoy just staying at home every once in a while!
I prefer to watch at home as well
My hubby and I do like to go out sometimes, but we love a night in, too. Popcorn and a movie are a perfect night in.
