The Best Streetwear Trends of the Decade
The past decade has been revolutionary for the fashion industry when it comes to both trends and technology. The way people sell, buy and market products have been completely transformed as online shopping and social media platforms have become the norm.

Musicians like Kanye West and Pharrell have transcended into fashion designers, and surprising collaborations between the likes of Supreme and Louis Vuitton emerged. Virgil Abloh, a renowned streetwear designer and DJ, became creative director at Louis Vuitton, sparking one of the most fascinating crossovers in fashion.
The past decade has also seen a huge affinity for the growth of men’s streetwear, along with a resurgence of 90s fashion and logomania trends. It’s safe to say that the last 10 years have been busy, but what stands out the most?
Athleisure
Athletic wear has been creeping into mainstream fashion over the last decade and is now seen almost everywhere you look. Technical and athletic clothing has become the norm for almost all occasions, with sweatshirts, trainers and tracksuits seen everywhere from the gym to the office.
One possible origin of this was thanks to the NBA in the US, with a rule that sought to encourage players to dress smarter when arriving at games. Players quickly began styling their suits with custom trainers and wearing high-end sportswear brands.
Endorsements for sportswear brands have been plentiful too, and not just from athletes. Celebrities like Rihanna and Beyonce have put their name to sportswear collections, with Puma and Ivy Park respectively. Athleisure was quickly becoming just as popular off the basketball court as on it, and it remained that way throughout the last few years.
Millennial pink
The colour pink swept across the fashion industry in the mid-2010s thanks to a number of influences, including a rose gold frenzy that was fuelled by the iPhone in 2015.

A peachy, pastel shade of pink was soon seen everywhere, seeping across social media and big designers. It quickly became known as millennial pink and was used to design everything including Air Jordans, retro track jackets and high-end luxury fashion. Perhaps led by a surge of women in streetwear as well.
Exciting partnerships
Collaborations between brands and big names were once innovative and now have become almost necessary for brands to continue being successful. The past decade has seen some of the most interesting and exciting partnerships, some of which have blurred the lines between streetwear and high fashion which has split opinions.
Probably the most prolific partnership of recent years is the one between Adidas and Kanye West, with its line of Yeezy products that still sell out instantly. Other collaborations that have turned heads include Supreme and Louis Vuitton. This year will see Pharrell Williams come together with Chanel, and Dior has just announced a highly anticipated collaboration with Shawn Stussy for 2020.

Unisex dressing
Gender roles in fashion have been changing for some time now, with fluidity and neutrality becoming a huge trend. A number of brands have begun offering styles that can be worn by all, instead of marketing to male or female audiences.
This is something done fairly easily through streetwear, as many of the styles like tracksuits, sweatshirts and trainers can lend themselves to both genders.
