    1. It really is – we have it all over now to be honest as it’s just so easy to clean.

  1. Would never have considered vinyl flooring for a bedroom prior to reading your blog, but it is now something that I would certainly consider in the future.

    1. Honestly, I wouldn’t go back now, a nice rug makes it perfect in winter but it doesn’t get particularly cold.

  2. I am so glad I read this as I am decorating my bedroom and need new flooring. I had never thought of putting vinyl in my bedroom until I read your article but I think it’s a brilliant idea.

  3. Ohhh you put up a good argument, I always thought carpet for bedrooms, but you are right, they get so dirty! I can’t tell you how many times I have dropped bronzer or some sort of make up and it just stains immediately doesn’t it!

    1. It’s horrid isn’t it – our last one was so stained so it made sense to swap over to something easier to clean.

  4. We’ve just moved into our new bungalow and looking at weather to go for carpet that we have always had, or go for laminate. I shall get hubby to have a read of this as I think laminate makes sense. Ive definatly dropped buttered toast on the carpet too…. Nightmare!

    1. I wouldn’t change back – you get some nice rugs as well if you do want the soft fluffy feeling and they are so much easier to clean or just replace than a carpet lol.

  5. Well, I don’t see my original comment here. O_O Cause of Raynauds Syndrome, I’d prefer heated flooring if I have to deal with hard floors.

    1. Ohh that would be good – we stayed somewhere last year with heated floors and it was lovely.

  6. I think I’d like to change from carpet in my bedroom a nice floor looks calming and a nice rug by the side of the bed much easier to clean

    1. Best of both worlds when you do that. We’ve had hard floors since we moved to the bungalow in every room.

    1. I don’t think I would go back to carpet now, I mean it’s warmer but all you need is a good rug to solve that.

  7. I am a convert to modern vinyls over carpet for bedrooms. Having a multi-pet household means that it is difficult to keep carpet fur free and disinfected. Pet food manufacturers put dye in biscuits so, in the event of vomiting, a stain almost always remains on carpet.

    1. It is so simple to keep clean, isn’t it? I definitely feel better using it, to be honest.

  8. I love that these carpets don’t retain fur or smell from animals. That’s definitely something I’d want to avoid next time I buy a carpet!

  9. We are currently looking at flooring as we are renovating. We want something hardwearing but not too expensive

  10. This is such a good post – I recently moved into a rented house and although we’re not in any position to change flooring, I’m definitely not a fan of the carpets! I’m hoping if we’re good enough tenents they’ll let us make some changes haha

  11. I have never thought about using vinyl flooring in the bedroom (the bedrooms are all carpeted) but having read your blog it makes perfect sense to use it

    1. Honestly, I’m not sure I would go back to carpet now. You just pop a rug down near the bed.

  12. Our upstairs rooms are currently carpeted, but having luxury vinyl flooring sounds like a great idea as we have little kids and they often tend to mess things up and this would be a great way of keeping things clean.

    1. It is so easy to keep clean, we went for it because of Sal and even now I don’t regret it.

  13. Personally I dislike hard flooring upstairs, especially in kids rooms as its really noisy. Carpet everytime, although it can be harder to clean

    1. I can understand that – I know when I lived in a flat hard floor above caused issues. Living in a bungalow now it’s a bit different.

  14. We are looking at redecorating our bedroom soon, we used to have wooden flooring then I went into one about wanting carpet. Now I would love to go back to wooden as I am forever spilling things on it and reading this just confirms what I want to do.

  15. I really do need to get cracking with new flooring this year, it has been on my to do list forever! I hadn’t considered vinyl for my bedroom before, I can certainly see all the benefits to it, but love the feeling of a soft carpet under my feet – I’m torn! Sim x SimsLife

  16. When we moved in there was carpets but I think I’d love wooden flooring in the bedrooms. Much easier to keep clean.

  17. Our bedroom is one of the few rooms in the house that still has carpet, and I’m actually quite glad of it. But I can totally relate to alternative flooring for the kids rooms. We put laminate in one of the rooms when we redecorated a few years ago, and it was just right for their needs. Vinyl is a great choice, and we have it in our hallway. The one we chose is lovely and thick, and feels soft on the foot. There are so many choices that you will always find something to suit your needs and preferences.

    1. It is that sort of halfway choice isn’t it – works so well! I’ve never found it that cold underfoot either and of course you just add a rug too!

  18. Part of me wishes we still had carpet, its so cold in our house, we have laminate flooring everywhere, better for my allergies but not for feeling cosy in winter

  19. I totally agree with you. It’s nice to have a lovely thick carpet initially but then after a while it’s a nightmare! Vinyl sounds good.

    1. I would change back now – carpet has the first down lovely feeling but can become such a nightmare!

  20. I currently have carpet in my bedroom and I hate it. It’s literally COVERED in stains. I can’t wait until I move into my “forever” home and can decorate however I like ♡

    1. Oh no! I hope you get to have fun putting your forever home together just as you would love it soon!

  21. I agree with you that spills and stains are difficult to remove from carpets and you can keep a vinyl floor very clean with minimum effort.

    1. They are the worst aren’t they – our last bedroom carpet was such a state by the end and that was with constant cleaning.
