The Benefits of Taking Some ‘Me Time’
The daily grind is a subtle thing that chips away at us piece by piece. In fact, it’s so subtle that many of us don’t even notice it happening until it’s too late and we’re halfway into a full-blown mental breakdown!
Our lives are quite uncertain right now and as a species that thrives on routine, that can be scary in and of itself. But with the world essentially put on pause for a few months in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, there’s never been a more opportune time to take a step back and indulge in some ‘me time’.
If you’re still winding yourself up into a knot with worry and just can’t bring yourself to find that ‘off switch,’ we’ve compiled a handy list of reasons why you should be taking some time out this year.

An excuse to plan for the future
Life can be so much more enjoyable if you have a good route map to follow. We might be living through uncertain times right now, but fats forward a few months and we’ll hopefully be on the other side of the COVID-19 crisis, ready to live our best lives. So, why not dedicate a morning or an afternoon to planning an exciting holiday for next year? It doesn’t even need to be a holiday abroad, as there are dozens of relaxing locations with Park Holidays available throughout the UK. If you fall in love, there’s even the option to purchase so you can return time and time again whenever you need some respite.
Space to re-energise
It might sound cliché, but there is something to be said for taking some time to recharge your batteries and re-focus your priorities to perhaps readjust the things in your life you’d like to change. Taking a step back allows you to not only recharge, but also helps to gain some perspective on your life. This can be found between the pages of a good book or simply from sunbathing in the garden. It’s not wasted time if it has a positive effect on your wellbeing and it might even help you to appreciate the non-materialistic things in your life.
The time to be creative
How many times have you told yourself you’d always like to write that novel or learn how to paint? With your life on pause, you’ll finally have the opportunity to do these things that you’ve been putting off for so long. Creativity is a wonderful way of giving your life a deeper meaning and the best ideas always tend to come when we’re relaxed. Because, if your mind is full, how can there be enough space to let the great ideas in?
Above all else, it’s important in these dark times to stay positive and try to be productive but not to feel ashamed when we’re not. For some of us right now, even getting out of bed in the morning can be seen as an achievement. It’s all about allowing yourself the space to chill out, enjoy your me time and find your inner peace. Because we could all use a little more of that right now!

An exciting holiday for the next year sounds wonderful for me. Trips give me a lot of positive energy!
It is good to get in time to rest and recharge. These are all great tips and things to consider.
Me time is what I look forward to all day! In the morning, I’ve been exercising for about 20-25 minutes, then at night I watch “my shows” after the kids go to bed. I love my kids but it’s my favorite part of the day LOL
I have to have quality creative time in my day. I found an app that gives you a sketching challenge every day. I don’t sketch as a rule, but this has made me think creatively and I love it.
Me time is so important especially at time like these. I always try to create some me time at the end of each day – I need it for my sanity!
My day to day life hasn’t really changed during this time, besides the worry for loved ones and humanity in general. I hope that many people are able to use this time in some of the awesome ways you mentioned! Hopefully, when this is behind us, more people will continue to be present with their loved ones and give up some of the things that stress them out. I
I’m trying to make space to re-set and re-energise. It’s harder to do because we’re all on top of each other working from home, homeschooling with a mock kindergarten at home. But trying to suck it up because I know other people have it harder.
I rarely take me time but I do try and live a healthy active life. I feel badly that I have not used the time to do something like clean or reorganize all the c in my house but there is always time.
There’s nothing wrong with that, I think sometimes we worry over clutter too much.
Even though we’re living in a hotel for the moment, I still find time to make some “me time”. Mainly that first cup of coffee in the morning ? I can’t wait to get in our house, especially with summer on the horizon. Time on the deck will be a blessing!
That is a good time to take a reflection on the day ahead!
Yes! Me time is SO important! Especially these days. I make sure to get it by reading. I tell everyone to leave me alone and for the most part, they do so I can relax.
Oh definitely it can be so hard to get “me time” in around everything else.
