September 28th – Life After a Lockdown #78
So this week the main news has probably been about fuel. The UK has gone into a panic that we are running out of petrol and diesel and have been panic buying after a handful of petrol stations didn’t get a delivery.
This has of course led to a real issue with people getting fuel. A local supermarket got a delivery at midnight and it had gone by midday.
Stop buying fuel you don’t need.
We actually got lucky and we did top up on Saturday, which is good as we have to be at the hospital multiple times over the next week and a bit. So running out would have been an issue. However, I’ve seen a lot of local people in real need of fuel and just not being able to get any.
I guess at least people aren’t panic buying toilet rolls at the same time.
Anyway..
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1. How are you feeling/coping?
2. What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
4. What tips do you have for others when out and about?
5. What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
6. What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7. What has made you smile this week?
8. Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 78 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’m OK – I had a blood test and I’ve found that having blood taken now absolutely wipes me out and makes me very shaky. I’m not 100% sure what’s being checked for this time but had to give up a good 7 vials. Hopefully, it might lead to some answers, but I don’t get to know until late November as some of the tests take a while to come back.
The weather has definitely taken a turn and hands up I’m not looking forward to winter. I have been finding it harder and harder to deal with mentally and my mental health help goes a bit like; ring up when it is awful over the winter, finally see someone in summer when it is not quite so bad, get discharged ready for the winter slump.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
Last week I had a busy start, we originally tried to wash our curtains. However, it went very wrong. So then I had to order new curtains and get those up.
I had my hair done and a pedicure as well, which all happens in the back garden. It is nice to feel a bit pampered.
After that, I was pretty wiped out and did nothing. Go me!
3) What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
Honestly, with the fuel situation, I think it is a great time to remind people not to panic. We cause more chaos with the “panic” than we would ever have struggled with should people have stayed calm.
4) What tips do you have for others when out and about?
Try different places, you never quite know how different places will be set up. You might be surprised by the difference in locations and find somewhere which feels much more comfortable for you.
5) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
Bit of a cheeky plug – I did a competition with Printster last week and they sent me some gorgeous pieces with Sal’s little face on.
If you want to find somewhere which offers a great range of personalised products then check out that post. Plus you could enter to win £50 to spend with them.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
The local fish and chip shop, they do delicious chips. If you are ever in the local area then go and check them out. Then even have 4 benches outside to relax on and eat your tea!
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

I’m just lucky that I don’t drive myself
That is good, I guess it is a plus side when a fuel crisis happens!
So annoying when people panic buy. Last week there was a queue nearly half a mile going to the petrol station.
It is crazy! We got caught up in traffic as people were queuing to get into petrol stations a few times!
Yes, the fuel situation is completely crazy, I thought we’d have been back to normal by now!! Sorry to hear about the curtains I washed my sons last week and ruined them!! ekk
At least it isn’t just me having such disasters! I can’t believe the fuel situation is still going on I have to say.
The whole fuel issue has been an absolute nightmare hasn’t it . I was so sick of hearing about it , hopefully fingers and toes crossed that’ll be the last of it now
It really is and it doesn’t seem to show signs of getting much better. I thought it would be over after a couple days.
The entire fuel fisco is just ridiculous. I thought it will only last for a couple of days, but to the day there still are crazy queues and some of my local petrol stations are closed. There is even a local facebook group with information only about where to get fuel. People just need to calm down, there is no shortage, they are creating it.
I thought the same, got to be over and done with after the weekend, but it doesn’t seem to be ending which is crazy.
The panic buying over fuel has astounded me. This kind of situation always tends to show the worst side of human nature.
Glad you’ve enjoyed visiting your local chippy – I love mine too!
It is crazy isn’t it – I can’t get my head around it.
The people who work at the chippy are so lovely as well.
I definitely agree with the not panicking! We gave in yesterday and queued up for fuel because otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to get the kids, take them to their clubs or even potentially move! It took an hour to get there and there was a limit but I was just so relieved to get some!
It’s crazy, isn’t it? Top up when you need to of course, but otherwise, just leave it. I’ve got 3 hospital appointments and need to get my Dad to the hospital to for one for him so we went and topped up to be safe as they are important, otherwise I would have left it.
C is the same when having blood taken, on one ocassion we ended up with her having to lie down with feet raised as her lips turned blue. I love a chippy we have a great one near us we all love. I desperately need my hair cut
Oh gosh, that is scary! It really made me notice how bad it makes me feel, I spent the whole next day a sleep as well and I’m sure it is all linked.
Ug! I hate it when people panic buy and have a surplus so that others have to do without. So sorry about the fuel situation!
It is crazy – it has driven the price up as well – which doesn’t help people who might be struggling as well.
There really is nothing better than chip shop chips! 🙂 Hands down the best food ever, no matter what time of year, the perfect comfort food with lashings of gravy! Nicely done on having your hair down and a pedicure, a pamper session works wonders! Sim x
It is so good isn’t it – I love a chippy I could probably eat one daily though I would feel AWFUL for it 😂
