Scarlett of Soho Hartnell Glasses: Review
A few years ago I had to make the switch to wearing contacts most of the time and while I’m still not a fan of having to wear them, it did open my world up a bit when it comes to sunglasses. So since then I have been putting together an ever-expanding collection of some wonderful sunglasses to see me through the summer months.
A while ago Glasses Direct got in contact and asked if I would like to review something from the Scarlett of Soho glasses collection. Now I know companies like this can’t deal with my prescription (honestly I just had to buy a new pair of glasses as my prescription changed again and the lenses alone cost close to £200 so I don’t blame them) so I asked if they could make me up a pair as sunglasses and they kindly said yes.
I decided to go with the Scarlett of Soho, Hartnell frame in burgundy as I don’t have anything that is quite this colour. Plus I absolutely adore the shape and while they are meant to be for normal glasses I felt like they would work as a pair of sunglasses as well.
This particular frame comes in three colours the other two being, olive and jet black.
Personally I think these actually look really nice with the tinted lenses, the colours seem to contrast each other nicely. This actually surprised me, as with just having seen a picture of the frames online I wasn’t sure how well they would work together.
When it comes to quality, having not had any frames from Scarlett of Soho before I wasn’t sure what to expect, however I have to say they seem strong and sturdy (after having worn glasses for around 20 years, I’ve seen my fair share of good and bad frames). The hinges seem as though they would stand up to the glasses being taken on and off a lot, which is the part that always fails for me if anything does.
So now I have a gorgeous pair of sunglasses, we just the need the sun so I can wear them.

These are really nice, although I think I’d possibly go for the olive colour for a change.
Great idea to be able to trial them at home for a few days before buying.
My main problem is my small peanut sized head & some glasses don’t sit straight on my face for some reason, I think I have one ear lower than the other haha.

The color of the frame is just fabulous, but not sure if the design will look better for everyone. I would love to have one such gorgeous pair of sunglasses & would want to check the Olive version as well.

It’s not the kind of frame that will fit all face shapes but it’s really lovely and I like the color too, awesome choice going for Burgundy. It looks really lightweight and it’s always nice to have a pair that will help you through the beach trips and all that during the summer!

I wear contacts and I must admit it makes life so much simpler when it comes to sunglasses! I now have a very large collection as I think they are my favourite accessory! These sunglasses are gorgeous! I love the colour and shape!
I love these sunglasses, I think I am going to need 2 pairs of sunglasses this year, one pair for just walking around with and a prescription pair so I can actually read things x
I love the color but not the shape of the frame. I have a round face so I like the oversized glasses. BTW your lenses are super expensive. So far my eye sight is pretty good and I’m hoping it stays that way.
They are crazy expensive, I went for the middle ones as the one higher was like £250 just for the lenses and the one lower was only £10 cheaper?! My contacts cost a lot as well I think but they subsidized by the NHS so only pay £99 towards them which is enough lol.
The idea of trying them at home for 7 days is great..all too often do I buy gligs only to regret the shape or frame a couple of days later!
It’s awful isn’t it – I stuck with the same frames for years (would just buy a new pair of the same ones) for that reason lol x
