Poppy Collection 2016 Enamel Brooch
Remembrance Sunday will soon be upon us, this year it is the 13th of November and of course, as with many years before this one, much of the nation will come together to remember the fallen. Last year I spoke about the 2015 Poppy Sparkle Brooch and this year I am following it up with this beautiful enamel brooch from the Poppy Collection.
In last year’s post I spoke about how the poppy’s quickly sprung back up on the fields of war and how the poem In Flanders Fields, inspired the Royal British Legion back in 1921 to hold their first Poppy Appeal. Where by selling silk poppy’s, which sold out instantly, they raised more than £106,000. Since then it has become an annual event, not only raising money for those who have served our country, but allowing us all as a nation to come together and remember the fallen.
For many years Remembrance Day and the Poppy Appeal have brought to the forefront of our mind the First and Second World War and while The Royal British Legion, of course want us to never forget those who gave their lives for us all those years ago. They also want us to remember those who still are and as such, for 2016, they have called the campaign Rethink Remembrance and want us all to remember, not only the old generation of soldiers, but the new as well.

As I said near the start of the post, the Poppy Appeal started with just the silk poppy and sold out instantly, since then the collection has grown and there is now so much choice, from the well-known paper poppies, to dog collars, jumpers and more.
In particular I think these brooch’s are gorgeous, they only cost £14.99 for a medium which is 4cm x 2.5cm in size and comes in either a gold or silver tone and of course can be brought out year and after. They even come in a gift box, which can be used to store them in between use and really are such lovely quality.

Wow this looks very pretty and you’re right the stories are so emotional and I am already a supper emotional person that cries even during sad movies ( hubby makes fun of me all the time) I am just a person that feels and have a lot of sympathy and emotions towards others.

How pretty is that poppy, I’ve never seen any like that before. I normally get a few of the basic paper like ones for the kids to wear each year.

How beautiful is that?!?! I love the fact that the money does go to the British Legion, and it is so much better than wearing paper ones which I lose all the time! I love the whole range that is on the website, especially the dresses!
It is lovely isn’t it – I’ve pinned it on my jumper so I can’t forget it. I either lose the paper ones, or put them through the wash in a pocket where they have fallen off and I’ve put them quickly. x

I used to buy poppies every year but would end up losing them, so I started buying enamel ones which last longer.

I have been noticing loads of different poppies recently, some are huge! This one is really pretty and compact too, so you’re less likely to whip it off when you take your scarf off! With the ones that are used year after year, do people just make a cash donation each year?
That’s what I was wondering – I assume most would buy a paper one at least, I know I want to buy a wrist band as well and I’m keeping an eye out for a dog collar on the website in the hopes they get a medium.

I was pleased to see that 100% of the profits go to the British Legion, I think in the last few years people have been selling similar for profit, which isn’t the point of it at all.
No I find that very sad 🙁 I probably should have pointed out this is most definitely all official and anything sold on the Poppy Shop 100% of the profit goes to them and I have to say I think everything is so reasonably priced, I feel like I would pay easily £5 more for this brooch and still feel like I had got a good deal. x

Such an amazing cause. In my old job I used to run an online lottery for the Royal British Legion. Just been and looked at the poppy shop and I am loving the shopping bags they do!

My daughter memorized the poem In Flander’s Fields when she was in second grade. This poppy brooch is such a great way to honor those who gave their lives.
It is such a poignant poem isn’t it, I visited some of the battle fields and grave yards of WWII in secondary school and I’ll never forget the feeling in those places.
This looks amazing, I been living in London for three years and loved to see how everyone was wearing this ones or the paper ones! Sadly this year I’m in Spain.
