The Perfect UK Break for Couples
When I was a child I was a really bad traveller and as such we didn’t really go out of the country, we stayed pretty local and it was that sort of holiday I soon came to love. In particular I fell in love with Cornwall, partly because it is absolutely beautiful and secondly because my Mum’s family all lived there and I adored going to see my uncles, aunts and cousins.
This is something I have taken into adulthood, myself and Ash love to head off to different locations and spend a bit of time, relaxing and getting away from everyday life.
Thankfully, the UK itself offers some wonderful locations to stay in and they don’t have to cost a fortune, take for instance the idea of glamping in Cornwall, something I would personally love to do one day.
Cornwall is one of those places that has something for everyone, with one of my favourite spots being Looe, which is substituted just 2 miles up the road from Trelawne Manor Holiday Park.
My Aunt and Uncle owned a little place just up the railways tracks from Looe and in my teens it became one of my favourite places, there was and is something so beautiful about this little fishing village and it is somewhere I would love to take Ash one day.
Even Sally enjoyed walking the streets of Looe, visiting the small shops, taking a trip to the beach and stopping for fish and chips on the shore. While just around the corner is the harbour, where you could often spot fisherman bringing in theres day catch.
If you take the road from the town towards the main coast line you will find the sweetest little beach, which looks out towards Looe Island. While the beach happens to be more rocks than sand, if you go there out of season you often find the whole beach is your own, piece of quiet beach heaven. Sally particularly likes jumping in and out of the rock pool when the tide is out and it could just be the perfect spot for a romantic beach picnic.
No matter the time of year, I can definitely suggest the Looe area of Cornwall of a romantic, couples getaway.
Do you have a favourite getaway location?

After a few years of taking abroad holidays, we are actually considering holidays in the UK next year for a change. We are so lucky that our country is so stunning and Cornwall is one of the best areas. I love the thought of clamping – I’m definitely not tent worthy!
Haha I could never imagine me being in a tent again – but glamping BRING IT ON! x
It is such a lovely place. My favorite getaway location and always will be is Maldives. I’ve never been there but wanting to go for quite some time.
I hope you manage to get there one day and experience it for yourself 🙂 x
This looks amazing, I love the sound of beaches and fish and chips! I have heard of cornwall but never been there, I’ve always wanted to go though. Sounds like the perfect getaway for the summer if you can’t go to somewhere expensive x
Honestly it is such a lovely place – I could tell you all sort of must see places if you ever decide to go 😉 x
We love Looe. Mum and Dad are from Plymouth which is where we spent most of our childhood holidays. Polperro is also fab.
It really is such a beautiful area of the UK isn’t it. x
This looks like an awesome place to visit! I’ve never been to Cornwall, but hope to visit one day.
It really is amazing – I totally recommend it for anyone 🙂 x
I don’t have a favorite getaway place but getting away does sound nice. =) That sounds like a great place to go.
It is a gorgeous place, definitely a must visit if you can 🙂 x
Glamping I would most definitely consider doing and somewhere like Cornwall or Devon would be perfect, the opportunity just hasn’t yet arisen x
Ahhhh glamping! That is something I have been dying to do dice the whole traditional camping thing…. Yeah not my style lol….
It looks like such an amazing experience, so much atmosphere around the places as well. x
I love Cornwall! I hope I get to go down for a couple weeks when I am off work x
Ohh good luck – I hope I manage to get down there at some point this year as well. x
What a great getaway idea! I’ve never been, but these pictures are making me want to plan a spontaneous trip for sure! My favorite getaway spot is definitely Calabria, Italy – or St. Lucia!
Oh wow now those are some lovely destinations a bit more exotic than the UK 😉 x
my boyfriend hates camping so glamping sounds perfect I am trying to twist his arm but cornwall is so beautiful too xx
t always sounds amazing and it has that romantic edge that normal camping doesn’t have I think. x
A trip to the UK would indeed be a great get away for anyone. I would love to visit Cornwall some day and to the glamping. It would for sure be a romantic time. Thanks for sharing your experiences and the idea.
No problem at all 🙂 I most definitely recommend it as a holiday destination 😉 x
I really want to try glamping, I think it’s the only way I’d enjoy camping now.
I’m the same didn’t mind it in my teens, but yeah glamping all the way from now on haha! x
I’d love to visit Cornwall one day. I’ve heard so many lovely things about it. One day… hopefully 🙂
Honestly I would definitely recommend it, such a beautiful place. x
I do love a good minibreak 🙂 There are so many beautiful places in the UK, I do try to see as many of them as I can rather than always going abroad!
There are some gorgeous places to go – I really want to see more, we seem to go to the same ones over and over lol x
I think people underestimate how beautiful the UK can be; I have always wanted to go to Devon and Cornwall, they always look so gorgeous.
Most definitely – I think often people feel as though they have to go abroad to go away. x
I love a mini break! I’ve always been tempted to go away on my own but haven’t quite built up the confidence to do so yet
I think just going away yourself could be amazing, but I’m with you I don’t have the confidence either. x
I’m not the biggest fan of busy places, but love the rugged Scottish coast for a holiday!
Scotland is one place I haven’t been but I really want to! x
I do love glamping. I had it few times. Would be fun to do it in Cornwall.
One day I will manage it – I totally want fairy lights where I stay though haha! x
Wow what a beautiful place to visit! I need to get here ASAP – I have a super travel bug and getting everywhere I can has become essential!
Ekk I hope you have an amazing time if you make it – there are some gorgeous places to visit there. x
I like the idea of glamping since it gives you the wonders of nature yet maintain a level of comfort. This would really be an excellent to do in UK.
Totally why I like the ideas as well – not sure I could deal with just camping anymore. x
I would love to go on a UK break with just my hubby but it isn’t possible at the moment with the 3 mini ones. Fingers crossed we can when Squishy gets bigger.
Aww I hope you manage to do it sometime with your hubby! x
I’ve only been to Cornwall once and it was a few years ago now, but it’s a beautiful part of the country and I’d love to go back one day! 🙂
It is so stunning and there is so much to explore there as well. x
What a great getaway. I think my husband and I could compromise on this vacation. He likes to camp, but I could definitely get into glamping.
It could definitely be the compromise you have been looking for 😉 x
A relaxing glamping trip would be super nice. Enjoying the outdoors without leaving behind some of the comforts of home would be perfect.
I think it sounds so nice and some of the cabins they use are so beautiful as well. x
Sometimes a good UK break can be just as fun as one abroad! I really like glamping, I went in Kent last year and it’s usually pretty affordable too!
Most definitely nothing wrong with exploring the UK I don’t think 😉 x
Sounds pretty awesome! would love to head to the UK for a break, who wouldn’t? Never been before and it sounds wonderful.
Aww I hope you get to make it over here one day to see it 🙂 x
I’d love to visit England. My mom is from there originally but I have only been to Heathrow on the way to Italy. It’s definitely on my list.
Ekk I hope you get to make it here one day, it’s a lot more interesting than Heathrow 😉 lol x
I’m going glamping soon in the Brecon Beacons. It will be interesting as I’m not a camper. I love Wales, Cornwall and Scotland in the UK and the USA as well as Europe.
Ohhh are you going to blog about it? Be interesting to know what it is like 🙂 x
ive never been to cornwall but i would love to. its just so far away haha
Aw perhaps one day you never know 😉 x
I’ve never been glamping before but would love too. The only place me and my partner have been more than once is to Liverpool!
Do you know I’ve never been to Liverpool – it’s somewhere I have never made it.x
I love Glamping, I am not much of a tent kind of girl!! This looks like the perfect place to get away to!
There’s something about Glamping that seems to remove it from the whole camping idea. x
I’ve never been to Cornwall, but the husband loves it.
Would never do glamping though; I’m more of a home comforts girl! I love a good beach holiday with air con, cocktails and lost of shopping.
It is a gorgeous place if you have the chance to go (Glamping or more hotel like) go for it 😉 x
This looks lovely! I’ve never been “glamping” I’ve always done the traditional sleeping bag, tent, beans in a can, lanterns, type of camping haha But this looks like a fun little change!
There is definitely plus sides for both I think and definitely camping is a must do experience at some point. x
It looks like a beautiful place to explore if I ever get out that way I’ll have to check it out. I was the opposite of you I love to travel still do if it was up to me all the money I would make would go towards traveling.
It is absolutely amazing – well worth spending time there, such history as well. x
Cornwall looks like a great place to visit and glamp. I love glamping. It’s the only way I will camp.
It is beautiful – honestly think everyone should go there at least once 😀 x
I love Cornwall but it is a little too far away to get to very often. I like to visit St Andrews when I can as it’s such a beautiful place.
I’d love to go glamping, or go to a cottage in the forest or a treehouse or something like that. Cornwall looks like such a lovely place so hopefully I’ll be able to head there soon x
A treehouse is another one I’d like to do, I’ve done forest lodges that is definitely a favourite. x
This sounds like a beautiful place to visit. I’d love to take a vacation with my husband. This UK location looks so scenic and romantic.
I hope you manage to make it here one day 🙂 it is definitely a beautiful place. x
I adore Cornwall. We didn’t go abroad until I was 15, all our holidays were in the UK. I think it’s sad that more people don’t holiday here in the UK as there are so many gorgeous places just waiting to be explored and enjoyed. So much history too. Your trip looks incredible.
I was the same, went to France once when I was around 10, Florida at 13/14 the rest of the time all UK. x
I love glamping and would definitely recommend it. You get all the luxury but combined with the great outdoors 😀
I will manage to go one day – it is on my bucket list! x
Absolutely love Looe, although it’s been about 20 years since I was last there, had a teen romance with a local boy though, so happy memories.
Aw sounds like such a nice memory to have – it is a lovely place. x
Oh I could seriously use a mini break with my OH at the moment! It’s not often we get the chance with three kiddos! H x
Ohh here’s hoping you manage to get yourself off on one at some point. x
