  1. Decent ventilation if I may add! Sometimes, your computer might go bonkers even without any viruses wrecking it down, it might just be your hot-headed RAM after hours of rage. Happened to me!

  4. We have bookcases in many of our rooms, so I’m definitely with you on that one. Files and a filing cabinet also very handy!

  5. I want an organized office because it makes me think clearly. It’s really nice to have shelves and file cases to make sure you know where everything is!

  6. I love colored paper too! We have a big file with every color of paper in it. It is such a great way to keep our art projects creative at home.

  7. Shelving is a must for me. I like to have everything out in front of me so I can see where things are and having shelves allows me to also keep it out of my way too!

    1. I am so glad a lot of people work from their sofa, I honestly thought I was the only person without a special place to work from. x

  8. I am the same as you in that I am currently working from my sofa or bed room if I am have not gone to the office.
    I would definitely love all of these items in my future office

  9. Offices must surely be the most underrated rooms or spaces in our homes? I have a tiny home so allocate a corner in the bedroom for homework and office work. I couldn’t manage without small, stacking storage tubs for all those unattractive but essential bits and pieces.

    1. I think it is often quickly put together – but making sure you are happy in your work space is definitely such a bit thing. x

  10. You have to have a good storage organizational system in your office. My office is the office combined guest room, so it also has a pull out couch in there. I need to organize it more and get some updated bookcases. Mine are pretty cheap looking.

    1. Good luck with putting those finishing touches on the room, I can imagine I would be on the couch a lot if I have one in my office! Whoops! x

  11. We just bought our first house. I am so happy to finally have an office but I am in the same boat trying to figure out what to do with it!

  12. I have a Pinterest board full of how I would love my office to look, not going to happen at work, it is 3 colours of cream lol x

  14. I do the same thing. Dream of my home office. The great news is I will have one soon. Have no idea how I am going to decorate it though. Once the baby comes along I won’t have the office anymore but at least I will for awhile. Nice post!

  15. A book case is a must in my office because it holds my personal stuff, blog stuff, and our homeschool stuff. I don’t know where it all would go if I didn’t have one. I also like colored paper. Something about writing notes on non-white paper makes it more fun.

    1. Yes! I am so pleased I’m not the only one who loves coloured paper haha – totally brightens my day 😉 x

  16. When my kids moved out I was able to turn one of their rooms into a home office. I agree with all of these necessities. Anti-virus is probably the most important!

    1. It amazes me how many people still don’t have one – even if it is just a free one it is really a must have. x

  17. If only my husband was more organized. You should see his office, it’s a MESS! My office is nonexistent, I use my laptop wherever I get comfy 🙂 But Maybe i can get him to implement some ideas here.

    1. I guess that is the plus side of being able to work wherever you can always pick the more comfy locations 😉 x

    1. I would love to have my office area with everything I need – I think the closest I’m getting anytime soon though is a shed in the garden lol. x

  18. For me funny enough was just getting a desk that had drawers in it. The last desk I had did not have drawers and I had paperwork everywhere. Otherwise my desk is always clear.

  19. Great office ideas! Bookcase is a must! I recently remodeled my office with a new desk, bookcases and so much more goodies!

  20. I am in the process of starting my business. Right now, my office is a kitchen table or my lap lol. I hope to travel while working. Will need tips on setting up an office in an RV! Great post 🙂

  21. As soon as our loft conversion is done, my daughter’s old room will become my home office and I cannot wait! I am also planning away in my head, dreaming of how it will look.

  22. Hello, Bookcases are definitely helpful, but so are filing cabinets.I would definitely have lots of bookcases and pretty prints in mine!

  23. Yes! I have most of this, it is all necessary. Except for the colored paper, which if I did have, I would have had to donate to my son’s school, each class has requested it!

  24. I have a desk, but I do most of my work from the couch because my desk is such a mess. I would love an office I could organize and find things when I need them.

    1. I have to admit if I had a desk it would probably be a mess as well – I’m totally not the most organised of people. x

  25. I’m in the process of turning one of our guest rooms into my office. I, too, work from the sofa and I’m looking forward to having all my stuff in one place.

  26. Great list of things for an office. Bookcases are definitely helpful, but so are filing cabinets. You also have to think about your walls and what you want to put up on them!

  27. A bookcase is definitely a must! I have a few and as much as I love thrm…they are a nightmare when you need to clean them!
