October 5th – Life After a Lockdown #79
So another 7 days have passed. People are still panic buying fuel. Apparently so much that the army is going to be drafted in, to deliver it!
Sarah Everard sadly lost her life earlier this year at the hands of a police officer, he used his ID, handcuffs and COVID laws to kidnap, rape and then murder her. He has been sentenced to a whole life term. However, in light of this, a police chief had the audacity to suggest she shouldn’t have submitted to being arrested.
While another police officer from the same unit has been remanded in custody after a rape charge.
Personally, I have had good and bad experiences with police, especially around the times I was experiencing domestic abuse. However, this just highlights how women don’t know when they are safe and who they can trust.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1. How are you feeling/coping?
2. What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
4. What tips do you have for others when out and about?
5. What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
6. What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7. What has made you smile this week?
8. Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 79 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Apart from feeling exhausted, I’m OK. Plodding along, hoping to have a few quiet weeks to try and rebuild some energy stores.
I’ve started slowly thinking about Christmas. We didn’t do a lot of presents last year with everything going on. I’m not 100% sure what is going on yet but hopefully will found out soon.
Definitely not a fan of the colder weather and darker evenings.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
I feel like I’ve lost track of what I’ve done when at the moment. I had to take my Dad to hospital for some tests, which makes a change from him taking me.
While I also had physio and call with the mental health team. They said they are going to have a chat with some of the others on the team about my sleep issues, so it will be interesting to see if they come up with anything.
3) What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
The news never stops talking about the pandemic and sometimes you need to take a step away from that news. That is OK, sometimes we need to stop listening to the things that can drag us down.
4) What tips do you have for others when out and about?
Take things at your own pace. One person might be ready to go out dancing the night away, while you only feel OK in the garden with friends and that is OK.
5) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
I normally go and nose through the UK Bloggers list of posts we have at this point. However, as I type this on Monday night Facebook is still down.
So I am going to go with this fab giveaway and update on her kitchen from BeautyQueenUK.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Warm clothing – it has got so cold! I really am starting to feel the cold more as I get older I think.
What has made you smile this week?
I really enjoyed watching Free Guy (which if you have a Disney+ subscription is on there, don’t go paying for it elsewhere).
Sometimes I find switching off with a silly movie can do the world of good.
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

It’s been hard coming out of lockdown as I’ve lost my job and it’s difficult getting used to talking to actual human beings again. I feel like I’m having to relearn social interaction, it’s bizarre.
Oh no I am so sorry you lost your job. It is very strange being close to others again at times isn’t it?
The pandemic can get you down, and now boosters are on the way my Mum has been called for hers and my dads had an email as he is vunerable. Now my Mum is worried as had her shingles jab yesterday and has to wait a month before having booster. Your comment about watching silly movies this is C she can go from watching more serious stuff and next moment on Disney watching something
Oh no I am glad they are able to have them I’ve seen a few people who have been called around here as well. I hope it all goes OK for them having their boosters. It is strange my tastes are all over the place.
I find it so strange that people are still panic buying fuel, esp when people don’t need it. I am very excited for Christmas this year, hopefully we’ll be able to see the people we love this year x
Yeah it is crazy – I don’t get it all – we filled up once because we needed to and haven’t since as we don’t need to.
The fuel ‘crisis’ is crazy, isn’t it!? I live on a bus route that goes past our local petrol station and one day we were sat on the bus in a queue of traffic for almost 45 minutes. I didn’t know at the time what was going on, but it turned out that we’d had to sit in the petrol station queue until we were *almost* at the pumps because it wasn’t safe for the bus to pass the cars! It made me super late for an appointment in town, and I was really late getting home that night as well. I’ve avoided using the buses since as it’d probably have been quicker to walk. LOL
Louise x
That is crazy! It is silly as well that is just making others late – we got stuck in a queue which was right by the hospital as that’s where we were coming from luckily. People were going out the wrong way onto the roundabout to try and get past the queue it was absolute madness and felt so unsafe!
