November 30th – Life After a Lockdown #87
Sorry, I took last week off, I’ll explain a bit more about why below.
Hopefully, everyone is feeling OK? What a few days it has been! I can’t believe the weather, we had a good few inches of snow here.
Of course, the bad news is that the new variant Omicron is looking like it might be ready to cause issues. There have been a few cases popping up here in England and the government has decided to bring back mask-wearing in shops and transport. Unless you’re going to have a meal or a pint, because it won’t come into the pub.
Lots of people are now having their boosters and I guess we can only hope we don’t end up in an utter mess again.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1. How are you feeling/coping?
2. What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
4. What tips do you have for others when out and about?
5. What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
6. What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7. What has made you smile this week?
8. Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 87 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’m fatigued and sore at the moment, it was a bit of a weekend. I was woken up by banging on Saturday morning and after a while woke Ash up sure something was wrong. He went next door to check but got no answer and was sure it was the wind. Long story short it wasn’t. Thankfully I did call the police and they came out probably an hour and a half later, which worked well as the daughter turned up around the same time and between them, they got in and got everything sorted.
I’ve spent a lot of the last couple of days wondering what more I could have done.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
The reason I didn’t post last Tuesday was I had a haematology appointment and for some reason, I got very worked up in the days before. By Monday I was unable to cope at all.
The appointment ended up being a bit of a “we shall wait and see again”. I’m still showing a marker that has come down a little but is still classed as high. As I’ve not had a blood clot they don’t want to diagnosis anything yet but will repeat the tests and refer me to someone else if it’s still high in 3 months.
I also spoke to my mental health nurse, which was quite good timing considering how I had been.
Then as well I also had a physiotherapy appointment. Due to how downhill I’ve gone she is referring me back to the ME clinic, to see if they can offer any new strategies from that point of view. She has also suggested trying hydrotherapy. However, I’ve asked for a “not yet” on that referral due to Omicron as the last thing I want is to get an appointment then go back into lockdown and them close down that unit again. Not exactly something you can do over the phone.
3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
Never assume you know what is going to happen next. It loves to throw curveballs at you ALL THE TIME.
4) What tips do you have for others when out and about?
Masks are being brought back, personally, I never stopped wearing them and I admit I do find them hard to wear. I find they knock my lenses about, they make me panic and are just well, yeah a mask.
I’ve seen a lot of people saying I’m not going to wear one, I don’t care. Remember it isn’t you who you are protecting, it is other people.
5) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
I actually really enjoyed putting this post together on Christmas Tips, yes it is a sponsored post but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy writing them.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Ash for keeping me in a space where things didn’t get too bad, yes I might have spent one day staring into space. Yes, I might have felt like the world was over and yes it feels like I was totally over-dramatic now. However, that’s how my mental health affects me at times.
7) What has made you smile this week?
I did put this last time I posted as well but it honestly is incredible. My birthday fundraiser on Facebook ended and I had made £160 for Pathway Project.
Pathways are the refuge I went into after suffering from domestic violence, they aren’t a big charity and probably aren’t that well-known bar from locally. So to raise them some pennies means a lot.

Wow, this takes me back with the start of Omicron and now it is dying down at last HOPEFULLY. Wait and see!
Life just love throwing us a curveball doesn’t it. Just hope people having their boosters and flu jabs and take regular lateral flows when visiting the vulnerable.
It is so hard to keep on top of things, never quite know what will happen next do we.
Having a bit of a cack time too, I have psoriatic arthritis and lower back pain is causing strive, put together with a frozen shoulder, I’m hobbling around like a granny & that’s just the physical, won’t depress you with how the old mind is (not) coping!
Oh no I am so sorry you are having a bad time – if you ever want a chat do just drop me an email – I don’t mind you moaning!
