Naanster: a treat for your tum!
Some days I am unable to do much when it comes to making things to eat, so having something I can rely on as being tasty filling and not take-out is a must.
I came across Naansters, one afternoon as I was booking the shopping to be delivered when they were on offer 2 for £3 (or an offer like that) and I thought ohhh they look interesting; I’ll have some of those.
I wasn’t expecting too much, just that it would make a nice alternative to slapping together a quick cheese sandwich, so I was pleasantly surprised after popping my Naanster into the microwave for a mere 90 seconds, waiting for it cool enough to eat, then taking a bite – my it was tasty.
There are 4 different flavours of Naanster available at the moment:
- Balti Chicken
- Chicken Tikka
- Beef Madras
- Vegetable Tikka
Each of which has its own merits.
As I was sent a couple of each flavour, I gave a few packets to my parents, while myself and Ash took the rest – I thought it would be interesting to see what they thought, as they don’t really do fast food at all.
To cook a Naanster you pop it in the microwave as is (all packaging still in place), give it a 90 second spin and then you are ready to munch. The cardboard packet can be folded back at around the half-way point to allow for eating quickly or of course you could remove it and pop it on a plate. Personally I put it onto a plate as I found the cardboard along with the food had got hot and it was a little too warm to be holding onto.
I decided to be around the first time my Dad tried one so I made him one the day they arrived and he definitely looked a little worried as I handed him his Balti Chicken on a plate.
Perhaps more than I when I first tried a Naanster, my Dad was as well surprised by how tasty the Naanster was and actually went on to make sure he got to try at least one of each himself.
Cooking it with the plastic wrapper helps keep the moisture in and while they cook fine without it, they do tend to be a bit dryer. The main ingredients of the Naanster are centred on the naan and so you can find the first bites around the edge may not include them.
Naanster for us all are a great addition to the fridge, while they aren’t something I would say is everyday eating, they are most definitely worth keeping around for bad days (for me) or for busy days for others.
If you fancy trying a Naanster yourself they can be brought from Tesco and Morrsions stores now!
What do you think of the sound of these snacks, something you might try?
