My #RehomingAngel Story by Sally
Woofles poochie pals – its Sally here today, I’ve stolen the blog from the human and I want to tell you all about my re-homing story, you see there was a time before the human, a time I don’t like thinking about, but sometimes it haunts me. I’m not a fan of men and I used to think bags were evil (though now I know if the human has one or any of the family they might contain something yummy).
Anyway back to the story, 9 almost 10 years ago I was about 5 (well that’s what the humans say, they don’t really know and I can’t tell them) and I was holed up in this place with loads of other dogs called Birmingham Dogs Home, months came and went and people would stop and look but nobody ever wanted me.
Then one day two humans came in a female and a male, the female wasn’t too excited about getting a dog, it was more the males idea and he picked me, apparently I looked like a dog he had, had previously and he had one named Sally – so apparently I was perfect. They didn’t take me home that day but came back the following week and off I went; look here I am off on my way to my new home (I looked so happy as I’d just picked up a sausage roll yum).
When we got back to the new house I had to sniff all the way around it, but the human female she just curled up on the bed and cried, I softly curled up and snuggled into her back, I just knew we would be the best friends but she didn’t cope with me well at first, she didn’t know how to look after a dog and I didn’t really know much about being a dog and the male human he didn’t care for me at all once I was home.
But slowly and steadily we worked things out together and not long after the male moved out and while things got very bumpy for a while, I’ve now been with MY human for a long time and always knew I had picked the right person, if we have had our rocky patches we are definitely BFFs.
So please if you are thinking of getting a pet look at rehoming one like me, but whatever you do make sure you go in with your eyes open and know what you’re getting into, it wasn’t nice seeing the human so sad after I arrived.

That is good that Sally has a home. I truly adore puppies and wish I could have more!
I adore this post. Sally is such a lucky pooch to have such caring owners. We would love a dog in the future and I will 100% look at shelters and try and see if we could give a dog a new home.

Both of my cats are rescues! One was supposed to be a foster but I couldn’t let him go, lol. Im a terrible foster parent 😉
What a great story Sally! I am so glad you found humans who loved you as much as you loved them! We have two kitties (no hating please) that we adopted. We love them very much!
I am so happy Sally found such a great home. It is so important to check into shelters and people looking to rehome animals before you buy a dog from a pet store.

What a beautiful story. Our dog we have now is from my boyfriend’s grandmother after she passed. I couldn’t see her put in a shelter so we took her in, slowly but surely she came around to us.
All of the dogs that I have ever had were rescues or from a shelter. I think it makes the bond between pet and human companion even stronger.
That is a touching story! Rehoming was how I came across my crazy, yet downright lovable Maltese! 🙂
What a sweet, sweet story! I love it. Have two rescued pooches sleeping on the couch next to me. As the bumper sticker says “who rescued who?” Or I guess it should say “who rescued whom?”

I love that you spoke for the doggy! that was a very cool touch. Indeed it is very important to be ready to adopt a pet. They have feelings too and need lots of love.

Such a sweet looking dog. Reminds me a bit of our dog that just passed. So incredible what they add to our lives.
We adopted our first dog from them pound. She was hiding in a cat cage because she was smaller. When we first got her, she was super timid. The pound claimed that she was found on the side of the road in a cardboard box. She is still with us today and she is super spoiled. She has two brothers (our other two dogs from different litters) I don’t think she cares for them much. She is getting older now but she is a happy girl.
This is a cute story indeed and great advice for the humans. It is always best before getting any animal to know what you are getting into. Re-homing is a fantastic idea for anyone to think about so they to can have a second chance. Thanks for sharing.
This is such a sweet story! I’ve taken in many pets over the years and they are always the sweetest things. Love this!
If I could talk my husband into it I would have a house full of dogs, but for now we just have one. I would love to rehome a dog!
Adopting a dog is a great idea in so many way compared to buying a pup from a pauppy mill. I love the story!

Yes I have adopted many dogs from shelters. My first one Sparky looks just like this sweet dog in the photos. I use to work at a high kill facility and get all the dogs out before the vet euthanized them. It was a heartbreak every time I couldn’t save one due to co workers trying to play God. I love seeing others care about the well being of animals!
What an amazing story, I had tears in my eyes. She has found a lovely person to spend the rest of her life with.
What a sweet story. Sometimes I wish dogs could talk so we would know what’s bugging them, or at least we could know what happened to them why they ended up in a shelter. Anyway, I still support the idea of getting shelter dogs. They deserve a family who would love them like they were one of their own.

Aw, such a sweet story. I have two cats that I rescued. I love them so much, they truly are members of the family.
This is such a good idea. Due to ill health my Tilly had to be rehomed because I couldn’t walk her. When she was rehomed through the dogs trust I was so upset but knew she would go to a new home. It’s been over two years now and still think of her everyday but have comfort in knowing she is running around on a farm daily. ??
Dogs or any pet in general is a huge responsibility, and it is definitely important for families to be ready and SURE. And adopting a shelter pet is a great way for a doggie that may have been euthanized to find a forever home!

We have 4 dogs in our home. We love our fur babies and they love being with us. I love good rescue stories (I’m a sucker for a needy animal).
I absolutely love that this story is told from a dog’s perspective. It’s so important to adopt whenever possible. There are tons of dogs out there who need homes.
What a good story! I know it can be bumpy at first when people and dogs need to get used to each other. We will be looking for a dog soon and we want to do something like this.

Aww i’m so glad that you were able to help rescue her. It’s always a bit nerveracking to adopt a dog without knowing exactly what you’ll get but it feels so much better than just buying.

We adopted our dog from a shelter. He was actually staying with a foster family when we got him and he was happy there, but I definitely think he’s happier with us.
