How to Make Your Trip to Atlanta Memorable
To make the most out of your business trip/meeting or personal trip to Atlanta, Georgia, you will want to focus on three key areas: iconic itinerary stops, unique and unforgettable cuisine and luxury accommodations.
The sheer size and complexity of the Atlanta Area mean’s that any suggestions on how to make your trip to Atlanta memorable in these three key areas will be necessarily partial, but here are some of the very best options out there:
3 Iconic Places to Visit in Atlanta
It would be a shame to spend a week or more in Atlanta and not get out and see some of the sites that this city is most famous for. Here are three iconic stops you won’t want to miss:
- World of Coca-Cola. This museum covers every aspect of the whole history of the Coca-Cola Company, and it takes 20 acres to do it. The museum is located in Pemberton Place, named after Coca-Cola founder John Pemberton and sits just a few blocks where he invented the most famous cola in the world. Visitors will be treated to taste-test Coke flavours from all over the world, watch some Coke being bottled, and keep a special 8-ounce bottle as a souvenir.
- The Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site: Atlanta was a key city in the Civil Rights struggles of the 1960’s, and nowhere can you learn more about it than here. See Martin Luther King’s childhood home and the church where he was once pastor. Also, peruse the Civil Rights Museum and learn about King’s life and passion, plus the greater context in which his efforts took place.
- The Georgia Aquarium in Centennial Olympic Park: This is the second-largest aquarium on earth, holding over 100,000 sea and freshwater creatures in tanks containing some 10 million gallons of water. Exhibits cover local ecosystems, barrier reef sea life, tropical Pacific waters, and cold water environments. See beluga whales, whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins, and more.
The Atlanta Food Scene
Atlanta still holds onto its old home-style Southern Cookin’ tradition, so expect to find plenty of places serving po’boys, grits, fried okra, Southern-style barbecued pork, pecan pie, and the whole Southern tradition in various authentic and delicious ways.
But Atlanta’s newer status as an “international city” has caught up with its restaurant scene. Look for Japanese sushi bars, old-world Italian, New York-ish Jewish delicatessens, an unforgettable taste of Greek cuisine at a place called Kyma, and a mix of Vietnamese and French offerings at Le Fat.
However, don’t neglect the good ol’ American burgers, done like you’ve never had them before, at the Vortex Bar & Grill in midtown (near The Atlantic condos) and other “authentic American” food cooked to perfection.
Luxury Condos in Atlanta
If you are looking for a top-tier luxury condo, Atlanta is a good place to be. But the Atlantic, in the heart of Atlanta’s downtown, is in a class by itself. This 5-star, high-rise condominium complex gives you immediate access to many of the area’s tourist stops, to the main business district, and to quickly transport to all other parts of the city. It also lends you a breathtaking panoramic view of the city skyline.
The building itself ranks among the tallest in Atlanta and combines Art Deco nostalgia with up to date, sleek, geometric design. As soon as you walk in the lobby, you know you are in a luxury setting, and rooms are oversized and stocked with every possible amenity. Finally, the on-site conveniences, including a fitness centre, spacious pool, and yoga room, and the full-service staff, make this the condo of choice for those who want to experience Atlanta in maximum comfort and luxury.
