Zippo Candle Lighter Review
If you are buying your Mum a candle this Mother’s Day I have the perfect item to go with it; a candle lighter from Zippo.
I personally don’t like lighting my candles with matches, it takes away some of the scent for a while, as you deal with the sulfur smell left behind.
Plus they are also awful for dropping small pieces into your candle. This can also can act as a second wick and cause burning issues.
Of course, you could use a normal lighter. However, if you’re trying to light a large jar candle it can get quite difficult to reach the wick. So that is where a proper candle lighter comes into play.
Zippo Candle Lighter.
Made especially long so you won’t suffer burnt fighters and so you can reach that otherwise hard-to-get wick. A candle lighter is a must for any candle enthusiast.
But what makes a Zippo one different?
Coming in at 6 1/2 inches in size, a Zippo candle lighter boasts a patented child-resistant safety button.
To operate you just need to push up the switch on the front, while holding down the button to the back. A much better design to any other candle lighter I have come across before.
Available in 3 different colours (gold, red and white).
This lighter is refillable so no throwing this one in the bin when it runs out of fluid.
While the flame size is adjustable using the dial to the base of the lighter.
Personally, I found the Zippo lighter really easy to use and I was impressed that it didn’t get warm as quickly, as my supermarket-bought one does.
It fits nicely into your hand and while the mechanism to get it working does take a little getting used to, once you master it you will never look back.
This candle lighter costs £13.75 and can be brought online as well as in a number of stores and if you’re wondering about the candle – it’s from Flamingo Candles and called Love Bug – a full review on that coming soon.
What do you think of the Zippo Candle lighter?

The Christmas pudding candle sounds fun and would be just great around the home,
I cannot think of anything I need to buy more at this minute – I am scared of having matches about yet we seem to always need one!
I didn’t know that ZIPPO did lighters like that , it is fantastic.
Ooh I love this, I so need one in my life. We’ve run out of matches so recently have been lighting my candles with a birthday cake candle, lighting it off the hob first! Classy! x
oh i so need to get those flamingo candles , i need one of those zippos too, i hate using lighters
I need one of these. I am always burning myself on lighters whilst lighting candles
Oh nice lighter – I love candles and I always burn my fingers when lighting them! Love this one.
They sure have changed since I last seen then
We have a lot of candles around the house and I can confirm matches are terrible for lighting them! This is so much better for the job.
I’m a candle freak and have something similar to light my gas cooker 🙂 Saves a lot of time!
I so need one of these – what a fab idea!
What a nifty gadget!
Although I’ve got a petrol Zippo lighter ;0)
OOh now this would definitely be handy, instead of burning my fingers with a normal lighter x
Oooh I do like the look of that – I have one that cost about £2 from the supermarket but it doesn’t look nearly as nice and will probably only last a couple of weeks before it ends up running out and in the bin. Thanks for sharing x
I’d like to have one of these lighters as we often seem to run out of matches. It would be useful for lighting our woodturner too.
That sounds an interesting idea. Love the candle too! Pretty flamingo!
That wold be perfect for a camp fire too
6 and a half inches, fits nicely in your hand – do you moonlight as an Ann Summers catalogue copywriter? 😉
Love Zippo as they’re products for life, a sound spend.
Interesting idea especially if you don’t like the scent left behind by matches.
I don’t often light candles but this would certainly save me from singeing my fingers when I do!
Very useful, thanks for sharing.
