Life in a Lockdown #14
Happy Tuesday – here’s to another week gone by.
This week saw pubs and restaurants re-open. I admit it will be a while until we go to either again and sadly the local police recorded as many 999 calls as they did last New Years.
Although I am sure it went smoothly in many places.
Of course, as ever I have to kick off this post I must say thank you to Bex at Futures for coming on this journey of lockdown remembrance each week and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part I promise it is simple:
We do ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, with how you find the link-up! You will be able to copy all the questions from below to answer in your own world.
Then all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and pop your link in the inlinkz so we can come and read your post.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
4) What advice do you have for others?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week?
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?
8) Anything else?

So what did week 14 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Bad bad bad bad. Although that has nothing to do with the current environment of the world.
I stupidly forgot to take my meds one-night last week.
It was a strange experience as it is something I have done before. Normally I spend one day feeling like the whole world hates me and have my head down the toilet. Then it is over.
This time was slightly different, I, of course, suffered from insomnia on the night I forgot them. However, I was able to talk to Ash about how I was feeling across the day, instead of bottling it up. Which let me fight those demons.
Since then my pain levels have shot up and my fatigued jumped up, with a whole lot of brain fog. However, I feel a sort of contentment at having battled through the mental side well.
To try and stop this happening again I’ve ordered a couple of weekly pill organiser (affiliate link). Which mean if I’m awake at 3am wondering if I took my meds or not, I can check!
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
As it’s been a strange week I have to admit I’ve not done much. Just surviving.

We have been rewatching Misfits on Britbox, and watched Artimus Fowl on Disney+ which I wasn’t wonderful, to be honest.
I may also have spent way too long watching other peoples on videos on TikTok (you can find my account here).
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
Worried for the most part. Worried that we have another spike on the way, be that sooner or when autumn / winter arrives.
I admit my anxiety around it all isn’t too great, however, it was something I was expecting to happen.
4) What advice do you have for others?
Same as I’ve been saying for the past few weeks really.
You need to do what feels right for you. Follow your own head and heart.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
I got told off by my Dad last week, as he reminded me we have been getting some different bits from local businesses.
First off there is Candy Land UK who deliver sweets. Ash had a real craving last week and we ordered him some sweets and me a cream tea at 10pm on Thursday and they arrived at 4pm on Friday!
Next is Chapel Porth Bakes who have kept us in cakes! Honestly, if you want any cakes and live nearby, then give them a message because they are wonderful.
Last are two restaurants; Howard’s Kitchen and The Plough. Both of these turned to delivery options over the past months and are places I hadn’t been to before. It is worth mentioning the Howard’s Kitchen also offers a large menu of vegan and veggie options. Both are places we will be visiting once it feels safe to do and taking others with us, as we feel they have gone above and beyond.
6) How has your routine been this week?
Pretty much as per question 1 it’s been all over the place.
It’s amazing how forgetting meds can send you into a spin.
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over this week?
Still no, waiting to see how things go, to be honest. I don’t want to risk things too soon.
8) Anything else.

This lockdown has made my mental health bad, my mum was sheltered and was told she had terminal cancer at 83yrs old and that she has 6months, i then had to make a decision whether to visit and look after her, its absolutely floored me, im struggling mentally. This lockdown is something i will never forget
Oh my goodness what an awful time for you I am so sorry.
Begining to feel better now everything to starting open up again. Just hope people art sensible and realised this is a phased process and not an event and that they still have to cautious.
Definitely I think some people think it is all over when we still need to be very careful.
I am in the United States, and to say this situation worries me is an understatement! We have been forced to reopen. And I just think it’s all too soon!
We are the same here – we opened everything in England. Scotland who stayed locked down for longer has done much better.
My mental health has gone down to an all time low since we started this lockdown, now we can go out and about i dont feel i want to, but ive got to get into a positive mode
I am so sorry – I think it has had a huge impact on so many peoples mental health (mine included).
Lockdown has felt like such a long haul but better to be safe and for everyone to be well
Definitely I think we have to remember it is all about keeping everyone safe not just ourselves.
I am trying to avoid the main town near me that places have opened up a bit more. I am finding my anxiety is spiking more that things are open, and that if you go outside things are going back to normal but a different normal. I currently feel like I don’t want change at the moment and would rather stay at home and just see a few people who are close to me.
I am definitely the same as you – I can’t imagine going to the shops yet – I understand some people need to but for me, it’s too soon.
Like yourself I’ve been pretty off it with the generalised anxiety disorder both physically and mentally . Feel tired bored and fed up . Think I’ve missed my grandson for too long now. Really don’t need a second wave of this . Pretty awful times let’s hope this goes away soon
It’s so hard isn’t it – just trying to keep your brain on the right path and not going off into its own world where it makes everything 100 times worse.
My anxiety has been a bit crazy lately, people acting as if its all over just a bit scary
People seem to think it’s all good now don’t they – it is worrying how close people are getting.
I really do need to look at Tik Tok I keep seeing people talk about it, I have been up and down this past week as well x
It’s quite fun – I’m not very good at it though haha!
I forgot to take my meds too and its taken ages for them to start working properly again. Artimus Fowl is brilliant, isn;’t it
Oh gosh not good 🙁 I’m sure I’m still struggling after forgetting them it’s such a pain!
No pubs in wales yet ? not till the 13th
I would feel safer for that to be honest, already been some which have had to reclosed due to confirmed cases having been in the building.
Wow. what a nightmare the last few months have been. My 86 year old Nan has had to isolate for weeks on end. She’s such a sociable person so it hit her hard and she’s had no help maintaining her home & garden. She also lost three friends in care homes. My daughter who gave birth to my first grandchild eight months ago has been couped up indoors with a grumpy, teething, bored baby and is at the end of her tether. My Mum has been ill for months and her hospital appointments have all been cancelled. My sister lost her job and I have become very depressed.
When it is all over I hope we will remember not to take our family, freedom and our lives for granted.
Oh your poor Nan, I think it has been awful for those who have had to be so alone during this time, we have a neighbour who’s not seen family in so many months because of it and honestly, those people are so strong, I couldn’t do it.
I’m glad you’re getting a pill organiser, that should help a lot. It can get very confusing. This way, you just need to spend 10 minutes per week and done. It is frightening how so many people are not taking COVID 19 seriously. I guess they haven’t had someone close to them that has had it. xx
Thank you – I get Ash to check it after to make sure it is empty, but I think that perhaps has more to do with being so fresh in my mind forgetting it all.
I am with you there – I struggle to work out how some people think.
I love hearing how other people are doing – although that must have been so scary to have not taken your meds and not been 100% sure whether you had or not. It’s good to find nice places to eat though.
It really is – I absolutely hate how it leaves me feeling, I’m hoping now I have the dosettes it won’t happen again.
Summer is so tough – the weather is beautiful and we are stuck inside. My kids have been going to the pool and my daughter has also gone to some field hockey goalie trainings, since it can be socially distanced. It’s something!
That’s so nice to hear that things are reopening where you are! Here in LA it only seems to be getting worse and scarier 🙁
I think I need to visit you when this is all over. I want to try the candy, the cakes and the two restaurants!! How are you finding Britbox?
Yes!!! 100% Howards are still doing delivery for now exciting! I’ve fallen out with it – I couldn’t get season 5 of misfits to work.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a rough time with the meds, insomnia and fatigue – hope you have a better week next week. I’m glad you’ve found some good places for take away food – we are trying to support our local independents when we can.
Thank you! It’s so nice to be able to try new places and support independents when you can.
Im so over with this lockdown lately we decided to live normal. And be cautious at the same time we resume travelling again coz that’s what my family enjoy the most.
Definitely – I think it will be a while until we go far, but I have to admit I look forward to seeing somewhere new.
I was glad to have more freedom this week with a trip to the pub and the hairdresser!
Aww I hope you had an awesome time getting out a bit more.
So sorry to hear about your anxiety and pain levels too…try and keep strong hun. However great news about the restaurants and the sweet treats too yummy xx
Thank you, oh I know right love a good sweet treat – delicious!
Many places seem to be starting to open back up again. I’m glad that they are all taking safety measures though. It’s nice to finally be able to get back to some of these stores too.
Definitely it’s a shame it hasn’t worked in some places, but hopefully we can only learn from the mistakes.
The second wave of this pandemic really gives a lot of troubles in people’s mind. I, personally have fear of going outside because I’ve seen a lot people going and being outside of their house even if it’s not needed. But even if I have fear I choose to stay positive for my family and for my kids and wishing that this pandemic will end and everything will get better soon.
I think we have to use the fear to keep us and those we love safe, while still trying to be as positive as we can.
I am so glad, we are slowly getting back to the new normal. You’re right about doing what feels right for us every time.
Definitely I think everyone is going to feel safe at different times, we are both high risk so it makes more sense that we are more careful than someone who isn’t.
I think we’ve all been feeling a little more anxious this week with everything opening and just not knowing what to do .
I’m hoping in 2 weeks everything will be fine, like it has before when everyone has said just wait and see what it is like in 2 weeks.
Life in lockdown is so hard but we need to be patient for our own good and keep us safe. I love this topic and I realized more this time. Hope next year will be a better and good year for all of us.
Fingers crossed – the only way is up right with this year?!
I hope you will feel better soon and that everything will be well. This is really a challenging time for all of us.
Thank you – hopefully we will never have to see times like this again.
This period is hard for everyone in a way or another! But we will do everything possible to get over it!
Definitely I hope we come out of this with a new outlook on life.
I’m glad you’re getting a pill organizer, that should help a lot! I have terrible problems remembering that sort of thing, so I use one when I’m on medication.
It is frightening how so many people are not taking COVID 19 seriously.
Thank you – I’ve sort of put it off as I’m normally OK, but normally isn’t enough I guess I need to remember all the time!
It really is – I hope so much that things don’t come back but I don’t know. I fear the worst, especially when winter hits.
A lot of our restaurants have opened up as well. I haven’t dined in yet though.
We are still doing takeout – Howard’s is staying delivery, which is sad for them but I’m also really pleased in a way too.
I hope you get back in your rhythm, it sucks when you miss a day of meds… I would get horrible headaches every time and I still forget sometimes!
It’s crazy isn’t it? Even after having these issues for so many years, I still get surprised when I miss a day.
A second wave would surely be a disaster. Here in the states someof our states are at there worst levels so all bets are off.
Oh gosh that is scary – we have regional lockdowns happening now, so hopefully it will work.
These lockdown posts are a fabulous way of recording history online. I’m anxious about another spike too. I think we’ve opened the pubs etc too soon.
I was reading earlier at least 3 pubs have already re-closed as someone has been found to have the virus since the weekend!
I’m worried about another spike too. Fingers crossed people are able to follow regulations so it goes away and stays away.
Definitely – I’m staying in as much as possible for now and just hoping.
I was particularly bored last week and the weather just isn’t helping my mood. Just hoping for a bit of sunshine this week so I can get out to do some painting!
It is really weird isn’t it – the weather can’t make its mind up at all.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a tough week – I hope you feel less anxious soon. Sweets being delivered sounds amazing – what a clever idea!
Thank you so much – honestly, it was nice, I enjoyed my scones as well.
I am all about having sweets delivered. That sounds pretty awesome. I’ve also been watching lots of shows!
Haha there’s nothing quite like it is there – got to enjoy some sweets.
My anxiety is all over the place lately too. It’s great to see things easing up now but like you, I am also fearful about the prospect of a second wave and another lockdown.
Yeah it’s a bit worrying, isn’t it? Hopefully, nothing will happen and it will all go smoothly.
