Keep Warm this Winter with Simply Hike
I have to admit that as each winter comes around, I seem to feel the cold more and as someone who always ran hot, it is quite a disconcerting feeling.
Towards the end of last year, the lovely people at Simply Hike got in touch to ask if they could treat us to some new outdoor accessories. So with Christmas was almost upon us I thought it would be nice to treat my parents to some new gear.
Who Are Simply Hike?
Simply Hike are part of the Simply group. Which also includes Simply Scuba and offer a wide range of outdoor kit.
From things for those who hike, to those who ski and camp and even those who just like to head out on an easy trail for a walk.
Simply Hike pride themselves on offering items which include the latest technology and features, putting them perhaps a cut above the rest.

What brands do they offer?
Simply Hike offer a huge range of brands on the website. Many of which you are bound to have heard of, no matter how much you’re into being outdoors; such as North Face and Osprey.
North Face at Simply Hike
Starting with North Face my Dad decided to go for the Apex Flex GTX jacket in dark grey.
This particular jacket is made for hiking and is not only rainproof but windproof and breathable (thanks, Gore-Tex).
One reason my Dad went for this particular jacket is it looks quite smart, offing a stretch-woven exterior, which allows more mobility than some other options. While the inside provides an ultra-soft knit interior to help keep you lovely and warm.
For those who love a good hood, the Apex Flex GTX offers an adjustable hood. It is also worth mentioning there are openable vents, that offer extra ventilation in warmer moments.
Overall my Dad was really impressed with this jacket. It gave him something he can wear when he needs to look a little smarter, yet without having to compromise on durability.

Montane at Simply Hike
My Mum decided to go with a different brand Montane and went for the Phoenix Jacket ThermoPlume Jacket in Saskatoon Berry.
I should probably first mention ThermoPlume this has been created with PrimaLoft. It is the next step in synthetic down.
It is there best insulation to date and has been made of 60% recycled materials. Which helps to mimic the fluidity, feel and aesthetics of goose down closer than ever before.
We all expected this jacket to be quite puffy due to the lining, as you would expect from down.
However, thanks to the ThermoPlume, while still offering the equivalent of 550+ fill power down. It doesn’t actually take up much room and as such you aren’t going to feel like it is all puffy.
Overall, we all agreed, that the items offered by Simply Hike were of great quality and they offer a wide range of items for all sorts of outdoor activities, no matter which one may be your favourite.

Its hard to appreciate the winter season when your nose is red and your ears are numb! I love what North-face puts out, they seem to really care about warmth. By the way your parents look very nice together!

I’m impressed with these! As you say, I expected them to look puffy and frankly a bit scruff, but they’re really nice!

Dressing in layers is TOTALLY important when it comes to outdoor winter activities. I love these!
It really is such a good thing to be able to do, my Mum can fit a fleece under the jacket which got her very excited.

Simply Hike has some really elegant and nice gear. The grey jacket worn by your dad looks really nice. I guess it is comfortable too and has just the right warmth.

It has been a cold year! It’s so important to have good quality winter gear! It’s amazing how warm it keeps you.
It has been horribly cold hasn’t it – I sometimes find I go out and then I just can’t warm up.
I mostly rely upon Quenchua and Wildcraft, they are sustainable and come in my desired budget.

North Face has really quality outdoor wear. Dressing for the weather is important. Luckily I live in a state where we usually don’t get temperatures below 30 degrees during the winter months.
They really do offer some amazing pieces are they, great value for money and long-lasting.

A nice jacket or coat through the winter months is essential. You have to have a nice one that will last a long time.
It really is when I was younger I could go without – not so much now without getting chilled.

Having a good coat or jacket is so important when hiking. It sounds like Simply Hike has a lot of great hiking gear.

I have learned that paying money for good quality outdoor gear does make a big difference. North Face has always been a brand I can trust! I live in Wisconsin and going outside is cold, but I need to get outside for walks otherwise I go stir crazy. So bundling up is a must!

She actually normally has one on, on cold days – I think it was slightly warm the day we went out and so we didn’t pop on on her, she has a red raincoat and more thermal one with flashing lights on if she’s being walked after dark haha!

My Mum is the same, in fact she worked out she could get a fleece on under this jacket and was thrilled.
North Face has really quality outdoor wear. Our ski jackets that we’ve had for nearly a decade are North Face. I admit I love the jacket your mom chose as it doesn’t look all puffy as some other down filled winter jackets tend to look. Looks comfy AND warm and it fits her well.
It is amazing how high-quality North Face items are. The fill on my Mum’s jacket is so warm but it isn’t bulky we were really all surprised by it.
I loved reading about Simply Hike. I get overwhelmed when I go to stores like REI and try to find what I want. I love your mom’s jacket and that it ISN’T puffy but still warm.
It is fab isn’t it – she decided on it to replace an old one and the difference in sizing was huge! Though she says they are both as warm as each other.

It really is a lovely thing to be able to do, before my mobility went down hill I could spend hours walking with the dog.
I am always cold, so it’s important for me to keep warm. I love the jackets and totally want to get one for myself.
