A few weeks back I received some beautiful children’s books by Christine Penberthy through the mail which will be going off to a lovely home. However, I know a lot of you have children yourself, so I thought it would be fun to offer one of you the chance to Christine’s books for yourself.
However, before we get into the competition let me tell you a little about her latest book In the Garden.

Christine Penberthy both writes and illustrates her books, with In The Garden being the perfect summertime read for children.
In The Garden follows two caterpillars and the huge changes they face as they transform from chrysalis to butterflies. During the book, we meet different hidden inhabitants of a summer garden, from a pond full of frogs to the insects that skip across the water, all of which happens while the two children of the house run and play in the garden. Of course, the book sees the caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies who fly off into the summer sky. While it all ends with an owl and a starry sky and all being well within the garden.
As you might expect each of the pages within the book is beautifully accompanied by an illustration.
Which, perhaps unsurprisingly, means it has been said to be a great bedtime read for children.

Have you ever wondered where you might go if your car grew wings? Well, Bert and Doris get to find out when their little yellow car sprouts wings and they end up going out into space. While on their adventures they come across rides on bumper cars, rainbow slides, leaping dolphins and a sailing boat through the clouds.
The illustrations bring to life this magical adventure and allow the child to explore this beautiful tale with them.

I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Seemed like such a great place to visit.
I loved the Famous Five books as I thought it was fantastic the adventures they got into.
I loved the Faraway Tree books from Enid Blyton as a child. Such a great story idea with wonderful characters.
Pippi Longstocking
I loved The Faraway Tree Stories by Enid Blyton. Such great stories and I just loved the character Moonface.
I’m showing my age but I loved the ‘Milly Molly Mandy’ books and Pippi Longstocking, when I was a child. Now I love reading to my 3 grandchildren aged 7,4 and 1 and they’ve all loved ‘Guess How Much I Love You’
We love Mog The Forgetful cat, because we have one of our own
I love Dogger by Shirley Hughes – it’s so sad and always makes me cry when he loses Dogger!
my favourite was also my childrens favourite growing up. The crunching munching caterpillar by Sheridon Cain. Brightly coloured and could make the crunch munch noises which would never fail to get a smile or giggle from them. it also had texture on the caterpillar that they loved to touch.
Loved Heidi when I was little, so wanted to live in the mountains in a cabin!
My daughter loves the David Walliams books. She fully immerses herself in his stories.
I’ve Broken My Bum by Dawn McMillen, no matter how many times we read this my grandchildren find it hilarious

Charlie and the chocolate factory because it was the first book I read.
I was such a big reader as a child and had so many favourites! My most favourite was a book called the midnight teddies! I knew it off by heart!
I always go back to Room on the Broom, so many happy bedtime memories of this
Winnie the pooh books have always been my favourite, they are timeless and can be enjoyed by generations x

Enid Blyton Mr Pink Whistle you just wouldn’t get away with the things he said or done now a true classic

The Hungry Caterpillar I loved reading it with my 3 grandchildren and how in awe they were that a Caterpillar could change into a beautiful butterfly. And they all used to love poking there fingers through the holes (the Caterpillar had made with munching) and I used to grab their little fingers and they did giggle ,Great little memory.

Has to be Charlotte s Web, I remember ending up in tears when Charlotte died!
I love Mog the Forgetful Cat by Judith Kerr as I adore cats and I’m the proud owner of a tabby cat that looks just like Mog.
We all love reading The Gruffalo, I think it’s because we can really animate it and make it come alive!
lion, witch and the wardrobe was my fav! I would sit in the wooden wardrobe reading the book with a torch desperate to find Narnia for myself.
This looks like a wonderful book that my great grandson would enjoy
Oh this couldn’t be more perfect for my son as he’s learning about minibeasts at the moment and the lifecycle of a butterfly. Thank you for the giveaway
