How to Effortlessly Craft a Certain Mood for Your Home
Home is where the heart lies, right?
We all want our homes to be the perfect place on this planet. If you want to decorate your home, you don’t always need a professional!
Follow these simple tips to set the décor of your room, according to your choice.
Interior decoration is very important to set the mood of each and every room in your home.
There are thousands of colours and you can make endless combinations to set the colour scheme for your room.
So it is quite common to be a little overwhelmed when you sit down to decide the paint colour to use for your home.
Also, you have to be careful while choosing the patterns and prints of your wallpapers, carpets and upholstery, etc, keeping in mind the mood you want for a particular room.
The mood of a room also depends upon the angles of the furniture used, and the accessories you add to it.
Ask yourself, what mood do you want for each room?
It is suggested that you pick a different mood for each one, depending upon the use of the room or upon the personality of the resident (this is especially in the case of bedrooms).
Once you have decided on that, follow the simple guide given below to find out what paint colour, patterns and prints, angles and accessories will complement the certain mood.

Calm Mood
For a calm and peaceful mood, the colour palette of the room should have soft neutrals like off white, light brown, peach, mauve, bluish grey, grey, beige, and so on.
These colours are soothing on the eye and will bring an effect of tranquillity to the room.
With regard to patterns and prints, you can use any pattern or print in a neutral soft colour, such as Chevron and quatrefoil.
Make sure that the patterns and prints are not too big or loud.
Choose subtle curves in furniture to accent the straight lines of the walls and doors. Avoid sharp angles in your furniture as far as possible.
Accessorize your room with flowers like white hydrangeas, lilies or chamomiles. Flowers such as these always have a calming effect on our minds.
It’s a good idea to set a calm mood for your bedroom as it is sleep-inducing.
Lively Mood
If you want to build a lively, vivacious mood for a room, choose very strong and bold colours that stand out ̶ such as scarlet, dark brown, dark olive green, deep grey, rose pink, red, ashen grey and white (for contrast), etc.
The colours must be eye-catching, so remember to match and contrast colours wisely. Any pattern or print will work in a bold colour.
Try Greek key or striped patterns. Opt for some pattern or print which does not get overshadowed by the bold colour palette of the room.
Choose straight lines which will complement the lines of the walls and floors. Use minimal curves and sharp angles for your furniture.
Use coloured furniture and abstract artwork having contrasting colours. To achieve a dynamic look for your room, accessories are very crucial.
Frame and hang your favourite paintings, quotes and photographs. You can go for custom canvas prints of personal photographs of cherished memories, as well as artistic photography of your choice.

Warm mood
To craft a warm and cosy mood for a room, use warm tones like yellow, orange, light red, yellow ochre, buff, off white, etc.
These colours will make your room light up with a warm glow. Use hounds-tooth, striped or ornate patterns to achieve a warm room.
Opt for curved lines in furniture, curtains or rugs to create contrast within the room.
Choose items such as gourds, bright flowers or throw pillows to add interest and colour to a room. It’s a great idea to create a warm mood in a room which has a fireplace if you want a perfect aesthetic.
Creative mood
A creative mood is the best for your study room or the room where you spend the most time working, especially if you have an artistic profession.
Feel free to experiment with colours like purple, bright pink, cyan, electric blue, lemon yellow, yellow-green, light brown, etc. Mix and match bright, bold patterns and solids to achieve an eclectic feel. Attempt to combine angles and soft curves.
Look for unique items such as throw pillows, lamps, funky frames and chic furniture to use as accessories for the room.

Classy mood
If you want to build a classy mood for your room (for example for the living room or the home office) go for cool colours like shades of deep greyish blue, yellow ochre, white, greyish white, grey, bluish white, brown and so on.
Choose patterns that have contrasting light and dark shades.
Try using patterns sparingly. Go for subtle curves to accent straight lines. Add plants and flowers which will brighten up the room.
