Finding a Plumber Made Easy
If you are anything like me then when something goes wrong in your home, panic mode turns on.
We seem to have a lot of things go wrong around here and while I normally end up calling my Dad for help.
It is always good to have other ways to quickly and easily get help for issues that are happening that’s where MyBuilder comes into play.

MyBuilder What’s That?
MyBuilder is a website which is a hub of tradesmen across the UK.
It puts you in contact quickly and easily with people who can help you with your issue.
Such as Plumbers in Birmingham.
Now before you start worrying, but I don’t know if they are genuine. After all, we all have these fears from time to time.
MyBuilder not only allows tradespeople to list themselves but also allows people to rate and review them.
Each person’s profile lists a picture, years in the trade, trades they skilled in, qualifications and a personal description.
There is also a quick low down on reviews, the number left, plus the percentage which are positive. While you can also read them through in the next tab along.

So How Do I Approach Someone?
Well, of course, you don’t want to just book outright.
You want to get in those quotes, so the first things to do is sent an invite to offer a quote to all those you like the sound of.
Once you have those in you are able to think over the responses.
If you aren’t sure who to approach yourself, then you can just post a job and not invite anyone in particular to respond.

Overall Impressions.
Personally, I am really impressed with the MyBuilder set up.
They have tried to think of everything when it comes to information you may want to know and allows you to approach a number of qualified people, simply and quickly and await their answers.
For people who aren’t able to rely on word of mouth and don’t want to just pick a random name from the phone book. This is the website to have to hand when on the hunt for a tradesperson.
What do you think of the sound of MyBuilder, have you ever used a website like it?

I’m always so thankful for websites like this- I never know where to start when hiring trades people, especially if I need them in a rush.
This is so cool! I’ve needed an emergency plumber quite a few times, so it’s always a plus when you can find one in a pinch and get to see their reviews.
It really is you never know when an accident is going to happen do you!
Plumbing problems always suck! Definitely important to know how to get a hold of a good plumber.
That is so true they are the worst thing to happen aren’t they!
Finding a good and reliable plumber is so important! It definitely can be hard to find though, this is great advice. Thanks for sharing!
It really is such an important thing you are letting them loose on your piping after all!
It’s such a good idea, although I’m also guilty of also ringing my dad when anything goes round despite being 32 and married with 3 kids! It’s always tricky knowing who can be trusted so these websites are a brilliant resource.
Dad’s are so useful haha! I honestly don’t know what I would do without the help of mine a lot of the time.
This is good advice. I love that each city has an online service for professionals too.
It is great isn’t it – such a simple and easy way to find someone you can trust.
Sounds like a great service!
This website sounds great – it is always tricky to know how to find trusted tradesmen, especially as I am a single mum. Kaz
Most definitely I still hate having people come into do things!
This may be useful of the normal recommendations route doesn’t get you someone. I find local Facebook groups I am a member of the most useful for tradesman recommendations.
They can be great as well – especially when a lot of people are recommending the same person you know your onto a winner then.
This sounds like a great idea and far better than the days of yellow pages where you never knew who was going to turn up. Sites like these help to keep people accountable x
That is so true – I think they sent out the last yellow pages ever this year and it was tiny!
This sounds super handy. I panic straight away too! I really like that they have a rating and reviewing system in place.
It is good isn’t it – makes you feel more secure in the people you are hiring I think.
You are lucky to find the website. I got the leaking pipe problem recently. Thank God the problem has diasappeared after my husband put up a new pipe.
Oh no what a nightmare for you – I am glad your husband was able to fix it.
It’s a great idea for people that have just moved to a new area and haven’t had the chance to make new friends and get recommendations from them!
It is so hard when your in that position isn’t it!
Luckily I never had to find a plumber, leaving in a shared flat and all but this would sure make it easier to find one when i’ll need one!
It’s useful when you don’t own you home sometimes isn’t it.
I almost used this site for something the other day, but I didn’t as I wasn’t sure how legit it was. I’ll definitely use it next time I’m after someone to help when things go wrong at home now I’ve read your post 🙂
Louise x
Oh that is so interesting to hear – at least you know now! Woo! I hope it helps next time.
We have had the worst luck with repairs. I definitely need a more reliable way to find plumbers and other services. This sounds like a much better system than just crossing my fingers.
Oh no that is such a shame, I hope this helps you a little more in the future!
Yes it is hard to find a trusted plumber. Plumbing disaster happens unexpectedly.
It really can be, it’s good to have a website where you can check what real people think.
This sounds like a great resource, I hate the lottery of plucking a name off the internet and hoping for the best
It is so hard isn’t it – you are trusting them with such an important thing.
I’m super thankful that I have not had to call a plumber when we had our house. We sold it a little over a year ago and I’m kinda glad because now the landlord gets to deal with those issues. Sewer backups are the worst and having access to a plumber is so important when you own a home.
Most definitely that’s the best part about renting, it’s all down to the landlord!
I love that you can post a job without a certainty of who you want to go with to see the options that come back and that you can see the reviews and thoughts of those who have previously used that service, sounds great
Most definitely I think it would be interesting to see who gets back to you, what they offer and what people think of them.
I always run to my dad with stuff like this (and car stuff…and any house stuff….) but this is a good idea! x
Haha I have to admit I turn to my Dad a lot for help as well lol.
Great! I’ll be home alone in the next 2 years so I think this information will be helpful for me. I don’t know anything about plumbing, I might need to contact one.
I really hope it comes in helpful for you if the need arises.
Wow, MyPlumber sounds like a really impressive website! It looks like a great service that can help lots of families, especially that they show us the reviews of each listed tradesperson. Thank you for sharing this.
It really is an awesome website and somewhere, where you could get the help you needed.
This sounds like such a useful website. I remember when I moved a few years ago and I needed my washing machine connected to the pipes. I didn’t know any plumbers so I called the number which was listed in the elevator. Needless to say that I spent a fortune and after he left, the dirty water from the washing machine would go into the sink, as he connected the wrong pipe.
Oh no what a nightmare for you! It is something that happens way to often though isn’t it 🙁 which is such a shame.
A plumber is one service purchase where you want to research those reviews. Not all plumbers are created equal. I like that you’ve offered a way to find one easily!
Most definitely – it is one of those jobs where you want to know you are calling on the best.
As my boyfriend is an electrician there’s a lot of homebased/ DIY work that he can do but plumbing isn’t one of them, but my friends dad knows pretty much people who can do anything so I think I’d go there for word of mouth x
Word of mouth is such a powerful thing isn’t it when it comes to tradespeople.
I think it must be quite difficult living in a city to find reliable workmen. Fortunately, I live on a small island where everyone knows everyone else, and word of mouth is the best form of advertising. 🙂
Most definitely I think it all depends on the area you look into and how well word of mouth works within that.
Sounds like a fantastic service. I also always ring my dad 🙂
Haha I think Dads are often a first port of call aren’t they.
I am lucky that my husband works in building maintenance so can manage most of those problems for us, but this site sounds like a great resource for those who don’t have that kind of knowledge at hand!
It is so useful when you have someone around who can do all those jobs for you and who you really do trust.
This is helpful, spared you all the time researching and looking for a great plumber.
Most definitely you are trusting them with your home – you want to know they are reliable.
This is such a great service! I am so glad I came across this as I need some service!!
I am glad it sounds like you something that will be of use to you.
Finding a good plumber is hard. Thank goodness that my husband knows quite a few from working in restaurants.
It is always good when you know them and know they are reliable.
I have been in need of a plumber 3 or 4 times and I remember always calling friends to ask if they knew somebody. This looks like a great service.
Word of mouth is such a great thing, it is amazing all the different things friends can help us with.
It sounds like a really good way to find the right person, kind of like Angie’s list here in the U.S. Word of mouth is great too, but seeing reviews and experience online can seal the deal for me sometimes.
That sounds like you have a great way to get hold of similar services in the US as well! Awesome!
Plumbing disasters always scare me. We have had a few little issues since we bought out home, but thankfully my husband has been able to fix them all so far.
They can be awful can be awful can’t they! We’ve had some that have had me wanting to cry!
There are so many scammers pr there shop it’s great this service allows reviews to find the good guys!
It is such a shame that there is so many people out there to scam you isn’t it 🙁
This is so helpful. Thanks for sharing. Everything involving water is a matter of concern…
Most definitely – especially with the winter coming on as well – last year out pipes froze!
I’m so scared about plumbing disasters and any home disaster that includes water. It is so good to know about this service.
Thanks for sharing.
It is something that can go so wrong so quickly isn’t it. Quite scary sometimes.
Wow very good for you. As for me, we use an app to look for handyman using the online service.
So sort of the same thing then? Just that this one is via a website not an app 🙂
This sounds like a helpful website! I never know how to find a plumber. I always want to make sure I’m getting one for a good deal!
It is so hard sometimes isn’t it – we rent at the moment so we rely on the landlord, I think I would panic if I had to do it all myself.
Oh my goodness, a good plumber can be so important. Plumbing issues are the worst, we just had to deal with them recently and I’m pretty sure we will again. I think eventually I’ll have to replace my whole sewer line, ugh.
They are awful aren’t they! I managed to make it so our toilet was constantly overflowing earlier in the year it was a nightmare! So glad we had a plumber come up quite quickly.
o be very honest I have never needed a plumber. I know it sounds weird but I will keep it as a reference. In future who knows I might need it.
Oh wow that’s so lucky to have never needed one! We seem have one in every couple of months lol.
Plumbing disasters always happen when you least expect them! This sounds like a great service.
It is nightmare isn’t it – they just creep up on and it’s like the worst thing!
