Donnerberg Shiatsu Neck and Shoulder Massager: Review and Discount
Back in 2016, I wrote a review on the Donnerberg Shiatsu Neck Massager, it is actually one of the posts I get the most emails about. People often asked where they could buy one, as theirs was getting old.
For a long time, the answer was, I don’t know, as they were no longer for sale in the UK. However, Donnerberg has now realised a new Shiatsu Neck and Should Massager, which is perfect for those who are looking to replace the original or looking to try for the first time.
So how has this massager changed and why might you want to buy it?
Donnerberg Shiatsu Neck and Shoulder Massager.

Much like the previous version, this generation of the Shiatsu Neck and Shoulder Massager features 8 deep-kneading massage heads, and the ability to use infrared heat and vibration.
With a choice of three-speed levels, two infrared heat levels and two vibration types, this massager uses the principles of shiatsu to offer a massage that both relieves achy muscles and restores the bodies balance. As such offering a relaxing and tension relieving massage.
While this is sold as a neck and shoulder massager it is important to point out that, it can in fact be used all over the body. Including; hands, feet, the base of the back, legs and arms.
While this particular version must be plugged into either a car charger or plug socket to be used. There is also a rechargeable version that utilises a Samsung battery. This is great for people who perhaps don’t have a plug socket in reach of their chair. This version came complete with a UK plug socket, so it no longer needed an adaptor.
Depending on the way you use the massager, you will find different benefits. For instance, the infrared (which can get up to 55c on the highest setting) can help; promote sleep, reduce stiffness and promote blood circulation.
While adding in vibration can help; relieve muscle tension, relax the muscles and reduce stress.
Much like the original massager, this one turns itself off after 15 minutes so you don’t overdo it. However, you can use it for a shorter period by just turning it off as and when you wish. It also includes a removable soft cloth cover for those with sensitive skin.
So What’s Different With The Neck and Shoulder Massager?

While unsurprisingly there are many similarities between the original neck massager I reviewed and this one, there are also some noticeable differences.
In a post-Covid world, we are all perhaps taking hygiene more seriously and this is true of this edition of the Donnerberg massager. As it includes 3 exchangeable covers which are made of a breathable soft mesh. These can easily be zipped on and off the massager and washed at 30 degrees.
The buttons have been changed, and I feel the designs included are much more logical when it comes to working out what they do.
I also feel that this version is more compact, yet still offers the same powerful shiatsu massage as before. Personally, I can’t pinpoint where they have removed the bulk from, however, it does also feel lighter and easier to manage.
Overall Thoughts.

Much like my original thoughts, I did find for me the massage was a bit too strong. That however is down to my fibromyalgia pressure points and nothing to do with the massager itself. You have to remember that Traditional Shiatsu uses methods such as a deep kneading technique, to help relieve tension deep down.
However, there are ways to make the massage “deeper” or lighten it off a bit. It is all about how firmly you pull down on the machine using the arm straps.
For someone who doesn’t feel pain in the same way I do, this is a great at-home massager. Which obviously when it came to the original version many people agreed with, from the emails I received.
So how can you get hold of the Donnerberg Shiatsu Neck and Shoulder Massager? Well, it is available to buy right now on the Donnerberg website, where it costs £179 (€189) for the corded version which includes free and fast postage (1-3 working days).
However, you can get yourself 10% off by using the code: LIFE10 at checkout.
What do you think of the sound of the Donnerberg Shiatsu Neck and Shoulder Massager, do you think it would work well for you?
I received the item shown in this post free of charge for the purpose of this review. This, however, doesn’t affect my opinions which are as always honest.
This post contains affiliate links if you buy anything via these links you get charged nothing extra however I receive a small amount from the company.

This sounds perfect for the knots in my back caused by cutting hair all day!
This looks really useful, although I think the rechargeable one would be even better.
Definitely I think something that doesn’t tie you to a plug is always helpful.
Brilliant machine…. But now it’s only holding it’s charge for about 20 mins atm…. So can the battery be replaced…. Or do I need to buy a new machine….
I have to admit I am unsure I will try and do some research for you and let you know if I find anything out.
This sounds great – I want to try it! Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome – it is a really relaxing product.
This sounds really good, really beneficial for me to destress and unwind.
It is definitely worth thinking about getting, it really helps you relax and unwind.
Oh this sounds like heaven. I might start dropping hints now in time for Christmas !!
Ohh definitely and don’t forget the discount code as well, remind them they can get it a bit cheaper ;).
Sounds like a must-have in any home. I love that it can be used all over the body.
Definitely, I thought it would be hard to use in certain areas but they have made it so it is easy.
It sounds as if it should be beneficial to those suffering from neck and shoulder pain. My pain is centred round my pelvic girdle and hips – so not really suitable for a massage device. But I do enjoy the massages my local beautician gives .She has great, firm hands!
You can move this down to around the hip/bottom area and hold it around the front – that could perhaps still be a little too high though depending on the exact area.
This sounds great, I do not suffer that much but my husband does and this would be perfect for him as am sure it would be much more beneficial than my half hearted attempts to massage his neck
It is a good massager – definitely gets in there to release those tense spots.
This shoulder massager looks really useful. I need to check it out.
Definitely worth looking into – it is a great buy for any home.
I’ve pulled my shoulder at the gym and it’s been absolutely killing me , I definitely think some thing like this would help me out loads
Owch I hope it is feeling better for you soon! Definitely worth looking into something like this.
I have been having neck pain, need to order one of these for the holidays
I hope it helps you out – the heat setting is wonderful I have to say.
This would be amazing for neck pain.
It is perfect for use all across the body for sure!
My mum often suffers with neck and shoulder pain and I’m tempted to treat her to one of these for Christmas.
Ohh that would be a lovely idea! Ash’s Mum struggles to so we are going to get her to try this one out.
This sounds amazing, especially after long, stressful days at work! What a great gift idea.
It really is a good gift idea perfect for anyway who has had a long stressful day!
I really like the idea of this massager and it would really come in handy when I or my mum have back pain. The battery operated one sounds ideal.
It’s great isn’t it – I like they have bought out a rechargeable version I think that will make using it so much easier for people.
This is something my husband could use. He damaged his shoulder overlifting and now is in pain almost daily.
Oh gosh that sounds awful – I am so sorry your husband is suffering daily pain.
This sounds like an amazing massager, and I would love to have it. Thank you!
You are welcome – I hope if you get one you really like using it.
I think this will work out well for me. Thanks for sharing an honest review
You are welcome it is definitely a good tool for the right person.
Steve uses a massager often but his one is a fairly cheap and rubbish one! I might have to pick one of these up for him!
Is it cheeky to say remember to use my link and code 😂
This sounds like a great gift for a massage lover. It is good to know that it is a bit much for fibromyalgia sufferers.
I hope it helps people – I can obviously only talk about how it is for me – but I can see how bar it hitting pressure points it would be helpful.
I definitely need to get this thing. I’m on the computer all day and it wreaks havoc on my neck and shoulders.
Sitting at a computer all day can be the worst, it really messes with your neck and back.
My husband would love this. Then I would not have to give him neck rubs.
Haha the perfect reason to get one I think!
My daughter has one of these and she loves it, gives her such a great relief. Her job as a nurse, involves a lot lifting and as a result she does suffer with her back and neck
Thank you to your daughter for all she does! Ash says for him it works really well, he likes it with the vibration on as it takes off the push a little. However, I can’t deal with vibrations so that’s a no go for me – I can see how it would work nicely if it didn’t keep hitting those pressure points.
