4 Essential Tips for Designing a Stylish Home
AD
If you’re thinking of embarking on a home renovation, either because you’ve just moved in or are looking to breathe new life into your old property, then you might be searching for ways to ensure style in every room.
Embarking on a renovation project can be a challenging process, but it’s also the best way to create the home of your dreams.
So, if you’re planning to update your property, here are just four fantastic ways that you can design a stylish environment to entertain, unwind, and spend your free time.
1. Seek Inspiration

Before you begin any renovation project, it’s important that you seek inspiration in order to help narrow down your ideas. This can help you to keep you on track and within your budget.
Whether you opt for the traditional route of interior design magazines, or choose to browse online platforms such as Pinterest, you’ll be able to find a wealth of ideas that can help you pick the aesthetic that suits your tastes.
2. Be Cohesive with Your Colours

While each room should have features that best suit their uses and help to differentiate them, having a cohesive colour scheme throughout your home will help each room feel connected to the next.
Whether you choose to use the same colour wood furniture, or pick a cohesive colour palette for your walls, there are a wide range of subtle ways to create cohesion.
If you do choose to do so through wall colours, then consider using the virtual colour checker from paint experts, Dulux, this way you can see how a shade will look in each room without the need to buy a huge amount of test pots.
3. Choose Timeless Furniture

While it can be tempting to keep up with the latest trends when you’re shopping for your new furniture, it’s also important to remember that trends can change constantly.
Instead, consider opting for timeless pieces that will always look stylish regardless of how you choose to decorate a space.
And, if you aren’t going to be frequently replacing your furniture, then it’s important to choose durable materials that are going to stand the test of time.
4. Combine Various Textures

Adding visual interest and style to your space relies on more than just your choice of colours. It’s also a good idea to start introducing various textures to a space. A great way to do it and help you create a more inviting home is by bringing in plantation shutters. They add both a lot of style and that element of texture you’re looking for.
Opting for natural materials such as wood and stone can help to not only make a space look stylish, but help to add a splash of luxury too.
Of course, natural materials can be costly, so if you’re restricted by budget then consider using materials that mimic these natural options. The wide range of decorative panels stocked by experts such as Lawcris will allow you to achieve the look of real wood and stone without the high costs that can be associated with them.
If you’re working with a contractor, then ask them about decorative panel suppliers to ensure you get top quality.

This is a helpful article as I start to think about re-organising my home. I definitely agree about the importance of ‘timeless’ pieces of quality furniture – I don’t want to constantly replace things!

Oh no that’s not good at all! You would think at the very least they would be similar.
I love these ideas, especially choosing the right colours. My front room and dining room are in one and they really dont go well colourwise so I have been thinking of changing this for ages so they look better. Choosing timeless furniture is always a must as we cant afford to change with the times always.
Good luck if you do give a go with changing them! I hope you come up with something you love!
