Caketoppers: Review and Competition
Cake, cake we all scream for cake! OK that’s not exactly true, however when the lovely people over at Caketoppers got in touch and asked if I would like to review their cakes, I did indeed shout yes please.
Now over the years I have eaten a lot of cake and I have come to find which ones I particularly like, for instance I am definitely a moist cake person and I do love a good fruit cake. So I was really interested to see how Caketopper stood up to mine and Ash’s taste buds.
Now one of the fun things about Caketoppers cakes, is they do all different toppers and one of the ranges, which I think is particularly cool is they can pop your photos onto a cake. Of course there was no one else I could see on top of a cake other than Sally so off I sent to them a couple of images and with baited breath I awaited their arrival.
I was really surprised to find the cakes arrived next day and as with any food, Ash couldn’t wait to dig in and so with a brew in one hand and cake in another we tucked into them.
Caketoppers sent us one chocolate cake and one classic sponge, both however were lovely and moist, with the classic sponge cake being topped with plain icing under the photo and the chocolate, surprisingly, with chocolate.
We both agreed that while the chocolate was nice, for us, the classic sponge cake won hands down. There was something about it that was just delicious and it went down perfectly with a good cup of tea.
I personally think these cakes would make for the perfect gift if you couldn’t get to a friend for a special occasion, or they could make for a really unusual cake for a birthday or even wedding. It is worth noting that all these cakes are made by hand and they use only the best ingredients including free range eggs and all the cakes have a 5 day freshness guarantee.
