Build a Life Plan That Will Get You Out of Debt and Saving Again
While most people will spend time thinking about their life and the things you want to accomplish as you live it, not everyone will create a legitimate life plan. However, doing so not only helps you feel as if your life is successful, but it can also help you meet a specific goal. For instance, some life goals may be to own a home, while others may be to get out of debt. If the latter sounds like you, use the following information that will help you build a life plan that will get you out of debt and saving again.
Set a goal…and write it down.
No matter what your goal may be, it’s very important you create one. This means taking the time to look long and hard about what it is you truly want to do. When you want to get out of debt, try to be specific. For instance, do you want to have your debt paid off in one year? Two years? Etc.? Do you want to have your debt paid off and a specific amount of money in the bank by a certain time period? After you have decided upon your goal, you need to write it down, as this will help you stay accountable and hash out any details.
Tell someone.
We can all make promises to ourselves, but if we don’t verbalise what these goals are, then there’s no way for us to be held accountable. If you instead tell someone about your goal, it makes you driven to actually prove to this person that you’ve done it. Maybe tell your spouse or close friend or relative, or maybe even consider sharing it on social media, as that can help you want to prove to all those you know how you can accomplish your life plan.
Create an actionable plan.
In order to truly accomplish your life plan, you need to have an actionable plan. When it comes to getting out of debt and saving money, the first thing you should do is create a budget. This way, you can see how much money you’re spending and bringing in each month, which will help you create a better system to pay off the debt.
Once you have your budget, try using a debt consolidation strategy to help you. For instance, Dave Ramsey offers the snowball system, which allows you to pay off debt from smallest to largest by rolling it together like a snowball.
Another way to create an actionable plan is to find out how you can either cut expenses or bring in additional income. For instance, can you cut your car insurance by opting for lower coverage, or can you find a salvage value for that old car and use that money to put down towards your debt or into a savings account?
Set smaller goals.
Paying off debt and having a savings account is a large goal, and it’s usually not something that can be accomplished in one week or month. When this happens, you become discouraged and no longer want to try to obtain your goal. However, by setting smaller goals on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, and then reaching them, you will feel the power you need to keep moving forward. So maybe you make a goal to put $50 into your savings every month for two months, and then increase it to $100 the next few months.
Celebrate.
Staying motivated means celebrating the smaller victories, which can include your smaller goals as well as your overall life plan. No matter what accomplishment you may have, be sure to celebrate it and let everyone know how you’re accomplishing your life goal.
Having a life plan is something to cherish, but once you’ve accomplished your goal, don’t stop pursuing other goals and life plans you may have for your future.

The smaller goals is the key. Just starting the plan with small goals would be easier
It’s so easy to get into debt. Not so much to get out, but you’re totally right about making small goals. Achieving the little ones makes it more manageable to reach a larger goal.
It really is so simple, something can break down at the wrong moment, someone can lose a job. I don’t think anyone sets out to be in such a situation.
