August 17th – Life After a Lockdown #72
It’s Tuesday, it’s been a week so that means it is time for Life After a Lockdown week 72.
This week saw England kick off with some new rules. Now if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive and are either under 18 OR double jabbed you no longer have to self isolate. Yes, you can go out and spread your germs all you want! Because the jab doesn’t stop you from catching and passing on covid.
I know some people will see it is as another step towards “freedom” or “normality” but for many who can’t be vaccinated or are clinically vulnerable it is another worrying step with them being put more at risk.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1. How are you feeling/coping?
2. What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
4. What tips do you have for others when out and about?
5. What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
6. What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7. What has made you smile this week?
8. Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 72 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’m starting to get a bit worried about how exhausted I have been of late. I don’t seem to be getting any rest bite from it and even just writing simple blog posts are leaving me struggling.
Hopefully, it is just my body trying to get over everything it has dealt with this year. I mean I don’t normally have much energy as it is, so this just feels silly.
I do worry about if the spread will pick up again as well with people no longer having to self-isolate when they have been in contact with covid positive people as well.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
I spoke a couple of weeks ago and getting a new wheelchair and we took it for a spin down to the local cafe.
Hands up I am a bad driver. I am OK on straights but any curbs or slanted driveways at the moment are my nemeses. Hopefully, with more practice, I will get better at the wheel!
It was nice to just sit and have a drink and a piece of cake as well. Something we haven’t really done since last summer when we used to go to a canal-side cafe.
We also watched Spiral which I had been really looking forward to. I think they needed to lean less on it being from “the book of Saw” and more on it being a completely different movie.
3) What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
Go at your own pace. Do things as you feel comfortable and don’t let people make you feel bad for doing that.
4) What tips do you have for others when out and about?
Look out for yourself, if you feel you need to cross the road then do it, want to use sanitiser and a mask go for it. Do what helps make you feel safer.
5) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
With a lot of us living on income which is far lower due to covid, it is worth knowing if you can apply for the Warm Home Discount. Pounds and Sense goes into some information about which suppliers offer this helpful winter payment and how you can apply for it if you an entitled to it.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Getting out on the wheelchair, it felt amazing to just see somewhere different and get to explore a little.
I miss walking and this has given me some freedom (even if I do need a group of people at the moment with me).
7) What has made you smile this week?
Speaking to friends, we’ve not seen each other in a long time but it is nice to have a catch up over messaging for sure.
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

I hadn’t realised the change in rules but it is so silly! As you said, the jab doesn’t stop you from spreading it! I definitely agree with going at your own pace.
Yeah, it is crazy, isn’t it? I don’t get it at all. All about the money I guess though.
I’m glad you got out in your wheelchair, I bet you’ll improve in no time. I think you’re right, that each person has to d9 what they’re comfortable with in this strange time. Mich x
Thank you so much I hope so! I’ll update on next weeks post this weeks drama in it! Haha!
I have found I am more tired recently too. I have put it down to doing more now that things are trying to get back to normal.
It is so strange isn’t it – I just feel exhausted 100% of the time and I’m like just give me a day off please.
We are still being very careful. It’s quite scary to think that there are people out and about who may have a someone who has tested positive at home.
Definitely, some people seem to have just forgotten the pandemic even happened I think.
I am visiting my dad for a week tomorrow and I am looking forward to it . First thought was kids will love going into mcdonalds , as we haven’t got one locally we live in a small village. Then straight away second thoughts ” covid ” but I probably will take them i have been double vaccinated but still very wary
Oh I hope you have a lovely time visiting your Dad. Definitely if you can feel safe doing it, give it a go perhaps take some anti bac wipes for the tables?
Sorry you are struggling with fatigue, from experience with C it is your body dealing with everything it has been through and in a crash, just give yourself time and do not overdo it. Have you tried supplements C’s ME Consultant is a huge one on supplements as well. It is great you got out in your new wheelchair, I remember when my Grandad got an electric scooter I crashed into something within a minute
Thank you, I have some Well Women (is it) supplements which I had started taken as my iron seems to go down quickly once I’m taken off it, but I haven’t tried taken them since I went into hospital and I was a bit worried about that having an impact (gosh my brain will blame anything lol).
