  1. I love these ideas. I am terrible at decorating, but I am actually looking forward to trying some new ideas this year.

  2. Absolutely love these ideas! I have always wanted to try and DIY a twig hanging Christmas tree and with lockdown this may be the year I get around to doing it 🙂

  3. I always struggle to decorate for Christmas because I’m the only one in the house who actually enjoys Christmas! This year, I have absolutely no motivation to do it. I hope I feel better closer to the actual day.

  4. I love the idea of foraging for decor, and to decorate outside most! It’s going to be a very different Christmas this year… Making sure the house looks cheerful on the outside will bring a sense of community in a time where there isn’t much of that.

  5. Those are such good ideas, especially bring nature inside. We used to do all homemade greenery when I was a child. I need to do that again!

  6. We will be reusing last years decorations like always but like our tradition, will pick up one new one for the tree.

  7. As someone who is trying to watch the pennies, I thank you for sharing this as it will come in handy. I always look forward to Christmas, but even more so this time round after what a chaotic year this has been.

  8. We often make decorations with the children, they make a lovely little gift for friends and neighbours. Definitely going to do it this year as everyone needs a smile!

  9. Those were a few great ideas so many families should use. It is so smart to reuse and repurpose and also good for the environment.

  10. These are such great ideas. I just love decorating for Christmas. I plan on bringing all my decor up after Thanksgiving. I am not one for DIY since I’m pretty uncrafty but I buy many pieces of decor.

  11. I LOVE these tips so much! I love going all out on my Christmas decor, but that can get crazy expensive if you’re not careful.

  12. I like these ideas a lot. I’ve never been one who thinks you need pricy stuff to make your home look great. These are fantastic.

  13. I love the idea of making Christmas decorations, especially some thing like the twig tree featured in the image. My daughter used to make so many decorations when she was younger! Sim x

  14. Me and the kids love making Christmas decorations from old Christmas cards, pine cones, acorn, twigs etc. The natural things are my favourites.

  15. I love the idea of bringing nature inside and using things you’ve found outdoors as decorations. I can’t wait to get some holly in my house!

  16. Budget Friendly :- Years ago I had a pretty Fairy decoration. I cannot remember what it cost. But it would have been reasonable, and bought along with other Christmas decorations for the Christmas tree, and the house / home. Probably bought from Woolworths (which sadly no longer exists).

The Fairy decoration was so pretty, and practical, and easy to store away :- It was placed on top of the Christmas tree for many years. Till it did eventually come to some damage. Certainly was a good buy, Was admired by children and others.

Re – use seems such a sensible thing to do. Economical, and can be nostalgic / sentimental, etc. As some may have been gifts, some bought specific year :- New Home, First Child, etc.

    1. Ah it is such a shame that it got damaged in the end – it sounds like it spent many Christmas with you.

  17. I’ve got lots of family birthdays in the run up to Xmas; this year it’s my Daughters 21st so I always struggle financially. I enjoyed reading this post and will put some of the tips into action to save some money.

    1. I hope your daughter has a good 21st birthday. It is so hard when birthdays come in the run up to Christmas.

  18. What a lovely idea to make things. My daughter tends to do lots of pictures which we put up (she is 5), I might have a go at doing a home made wreath this year from things in the garden or from parks.

  19. I have cross-stitched a few ornaments – Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore with Santa hats on – gives me something to do and they are cheap to make!

    1. Oh gosh, I bet they are so cute! When we had room for a tree I used to have Winnie the Pooh with a star on top of it. My aunt who is no longer with us got him for me, so its a special one.
