10 Smart Solutions to Maximise a Small Bedroom
Today I am handing my blog over to Emma from Home with Emma, who is going to share some of her smart solutions to maximise a small bedroom. Something I definitely need tips on myself as I really do struggle with ours.
Are you struggling to fit everything into your small bedroom? You are not alone. With our apartments and houses becoming more compact it can feel impossible to squeeze everything we own into our small rooms.
These 10 smart solutions to maximise a small bedroom will help you utilise all of your space to create the clutter-free, organised bedroom you have always dreamed of.
1. A bed with hidden storage

The space under our beds is so often wasted. Accessing all of the available space can be tricky which is why ottoman beds are a smart solution for small bedrooms. They lift to reveal an ample amount of storage space that is super easy to access from all sides of the bed.
Alternatively, try to find storage boxes that fit under your bed perfectly so that no space goes to waste.
2. The perfect wardrobe for your small bedroom
The second biggest piece of furniture in our small bedrooms is typically a wardrobe. Too often a large, traditional style wardrobe is purchased without considering whether it is the right storage solution for our needs. Consider a wardrobe alternative to ensure no valuable space is being wasted. This could be a clothes rail, a bed with a built-in wardrobe or even a mirror with hidden storage.
3. Extra hooks

Every room could benefit from a few extra hooks and your small bedroom is no exception. Consider adding some hooks to your walls to keep your bedroom floor free of clutter. They are a great spot for hanging clothes that you plan to wear again or that are waiting to be put away.
4. High shelving
When living in a small space it is essential to maximise your walls especially if you are in need of more storage. High shelving is a great way of adding more bedroom storage space to your room. Place items into simple storage boxes rather than directly onto the shelves to keep your bedroom looking organised and clutter-free.
5. Clever interior organisers

Interior organisers are a game changer for maximising a small bedroom. Add some to your drawers, dressing table and even your wardrobe to get organised and utilise all your available space.
6. Maximise the space above your bed
Don’t let the space above your bed be wasted. A wall-mounted storage solution will provide a great spot for storing items you don’t need access to every day. Use the space to store out-of-season clothing. Seasonally rotating your clothing means you can opt for a smaller wardrobe and it will help keep you organised.
7. Rethink your dressing table
A dressing table doesn’t need to be a big, boxy desk. Most of us dream of having a dedicated vanity area but that can be tricky in a small bedroom. Consider using a floating shelf or even a drop-leaf table that can be folded away when it is not being used. These are just a few dressing table ideas for a small bedroom but there are lots of options to explore.
8. Floating bedside tables

Opting for wall-mounted bedside tables will help make your bedroom feel much larger. Wall-mounted bedside tables are also a great idea if you have under-bed storage boxes as you’ll easily be able to slide the boxes out without having to move any furniture out of the way.
9. Door storage
Utilise the space behind your door with a nifty hanging organiser. There are many different hanging door organisers to choose from so you’ll easily be able to find the perfect solution for your storage needs. Why not try using a hanging laundry hamper to free up some valuable floor space?
10. Multifunctional furniture

Multifunctional furniture is a small home essential. Find pieces of furniture that can be used for multiple functions to help save space. A dressing table stool could have hidden storage, and a stepstool (you’ll need one for reaching those high shelves) could double as a bedside table. The possibilities are endless.
A small bedroom shouldn’t stop you from having an organised space you love spending time in. There are lots of smart solutions to maximise a small bedroom, the trick is finding the right solutions for your needs. Check out Home With Emma for some more smart organisation ideas.

Great ideas, my teen daughters share a room and it is a squeeze even though it is a double room. i’ve managed to put a divider down the middle so they both have their own space & I have got the headboards which has shelves built into them
Some great ideas here, you really do need to think outside the box (no pun intended) when living in a tiny house. Not sure I like the idea of storage above the bed though, I’d be too worried about it crashing down on me in the middle of the night!
Great ideas here I love the thought of floating bedside tables
Some really great ideas. We don’t have an overly large bedroom and a lot of it is also my husbands office! I love the idea of putting storage over the bed.
I find you can actual fit quite a lot under a bed, although it can then turn into a game of tetris if you need to find something!
Some fantastic tips, my daughter is in a box room so this is very helpful! 🙂
Great tips thanks but always think do I need this stuff and donate as much as possible. Also the loft can be used for your out of season items.
Such a useful read as our bedroom is pretty small. We definitely need to install a few shelves and the addition of hooks is a great idea. Recently I also discovered a wooden cabinet that has a pivoting table too. I do love multifunctional furnituree
