July 6 – Life in a Lockdown #66
So another week has passed, could we be drawing to the end of this series with England set to reopen soon fully?
This week news has mainly been around football, with England managing to beat Germany for the first time in over 50 years. Then of course they beat Ukraine and made it through to the semi-finals. Honestly, I’m not a huge sports fan but you can’t help but hear the news.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 66 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’m still really fatigued and struggling to feel like I have any spare energy. I’ve spent most of my time curled up on the sofa when not in bed.
Other than that, I’m plodding along, I’m starting to really miss having an animal around the place to look after. So been trying to keep my mind occupied.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
If you follow my Facebook page or are friends with me over on Facebook you might have seen I took the step of having my hair cut.
This was a big thing for me in two ways as 1) hello pandemic and 2) I’ve not had my hair professionally cut in probably 10 years. I have urges when my mental health isn’t great to cut at my hair so I’ve always been a bit ashamed to go to the hairdresser, I did overcome those urges a little and rather than hacking tried to do more of a trim. However, I’ll be honest I’m far from being a hairdresser.
A lovely local hairdresser came out and did my hair (and eyebrows) in the garden and honestly, it felt good to have it done and gave me a bit of a lift.
It is something I am going to try and have done regularly when able even if it’s just a quick trim.
This, however, probably has had a knock-on effect on my fatigue as it took a lot to go through with the appointment.
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
I am trying to be better at mindfulness and have been trying out different techniques. So this post from Opposable Thumbs Blog on three breathing techniques is really useful. Box breathing is definitely one I’ve heard of and used before, however, the second two were new to me.
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
Nothing – I would love to feel able to go for a spa day but I do worry if that is something I will ever feel comfortable doing again.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.
Nothing this week I’m afraid – been trying to be good (if that is possible with me).
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
The understanding of people. The fact I was able to reach out to someone who understood I felt like I needed my hair cut outside was a big thing for me.
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
You second guess everything. Are you doing the right thing, is it too soon, should you be doing more, is staying at home OK?
It really can be hard to know what to do and when.
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

Managed to get a ticket for the England Germany game, absolutely brilliant day. Managed to get tickets for 3 games with England Croatia opening game and the Italy Spain semi-final.
Oh wow, I bet that was absolutely incredible to get to see all those matches!
Getting hair cut is definitely on my list of needs, I dread to think how long it has been! I am so fatigued this week, could actually sleep all day! hoping I feel better next week
I have the same feeling at the moment, I just want to curl up and just sleep for the year.
I’ve finally had my hair cut too and I’ve gone blond!!! Such a change but was definitely needed
Ekk exciting to have something different done, she’s going to look at dying mine next time too!
Only reason I’ve been taking notice of football is I’ve joined sky bet and doing a few promotions
Ohh good to be able to get in on a couple of promotions!
There’s something so exciting about a country coming together to support a team, it makes a change from all the doom and gloom from the last year
Definitely, it is nice to see everyone coming together and getting so excited.
Yay to having your hair cut! I’ve been trying to be good by not buying things too – how long will that last for both of us? Lol!
Haha, not long I’m guessing eek! I’m not looking forward to having to pay tax this month boo LOL.
I get how you feel with the fatigue C is struggling and bed bound every day. I bet you feel so much better for having your hair cut, I need to get mine cut but waiting for C to be up for a hair cut as well
It does feel so much better – feels very strange with it being so much shorter now though!
It must have been nice to have your hair cut. Mine always looks so much better after a trim. I’m not surprised you felt better after having it done. Bet it looks great x
It was nice and I felt at ease (mostly) which is a big thing for me – I don’t really like being around people LOL.
I’m not a big football fan but it is quite exciting that we’ve got so far. And that’s great about the haircut – I am not a fan of hairdressers at all and try to limit my visits to once or twice a year at most but I do always feel better when I get it done. Let’s hope the end to all this lockdown is in sight!
It’s amazing how different it can make you feel getting a hair cut I think. I’m the same with football always interesting to hear about but I don’t think I could sit through a match.
